Chapter 95: Zatanna!

Transarctic Mountains –cave

Circe and Ra's had left John to rot in the cave. John was kneeling in front of the pits of Pandora looking up at Zatanna. He tried his best to heal the wound in Ra's left in his heart, but healing magic was never his thing.

Zatanna was floating above a pit of Pandora; her pupils had returned to view however her face was blank and would remind anyone of a mindless droid. John kneeled in his small pool of blood as he asked her. "Z…if you…can hear…me…I'm in a spot of bother here…gonna bleed to death soon...So all help…would be…appreciated."

Circe walked up to the kneeling John; he saw the slight irritation on her face. 'Is…she acting…or…is…it real?' John wondered.

She walked in front of him while keeping her eyes trained on his face, "You told me you could give me the trinity. It was your idea to send the Deadman to possess me, Superman. Then you advised me to keep this other magician alive as another potential weapon to be used.

I suspect you lied to me trickster. I said I would heal you if you aided me. But now I think I shall let you die."

John looked into her eyes with a smug look, "Where's Ra's? Gone for a wander, has he?"

Circe bent down and ran a nail through John's dress shirt, the buttons on his shirt snapped off. While she said, "This should be your last concern trickster." As his wound became visible, John started chipping.

"I think he getting the hump with you…seeing through your…lies…you're dying…finally…that's why you're doing this…And prophecies are tired clichés…we both know it…"

Anger started to wash over Circe's face; she bit her lip in an attempt to stay calm. But John continued on "…Aw…I think it's sweet…you inventing all this, all because…for the first time, in your miserable life…you're scared…I know what it's like to lose a soul…the ironic thing…is that if you asked Wonder Woman...she would have helped you…an she'd make Geralt help you too…after all you're not like me…the demon lords don't have your soul…Do they?"

Circe ran her fingers into his wound a bit; he screamed in pain. But she didn't care, instead, she said, "How insightful alas, your agony will end soon."

"Your blood shall…" Circe paused and pulled her fingers out his wound, her eyes went wide as John's wound closed.

Circe looked back at Zatanna a dagger appeared in her right hand. Circe walked towards Zatanna with the dagger. "Zatanna still conscious after all? You know, you were right. This one's an impressive weapon.

The power of the pits is like nothing I have known in thousands of years. It is a gateway to hell I had thought lost...And yet she somehow able to fight its influence and save you? She must truly care for you…I envy that."

John stood up as the dagger floated closer to Zatanna heart, "NO! DON'T TOUCH HER!" John yelled. Circe smiled as he struggled to his feet. "Jason blood, Red hood, Bizarro, Artemis, and The Deadman. Whomever I sacrifice to the pit helps open the breach, little by little.

That is why I want the trinity…At the start, I thought they represented the only things that would allow me to fully open the pits…To pass through and gain that which I desire. But then I learned…it didn't need to be just them."

The dagger pierced Zatanna; a tear came down her eye, Circe smiled with delight and John cried "ZATANNA!" Circe smiled and turned. Her arms stretched wide and her head shot up, "abracadabra, she's gone."

Zatanna fell through the pit and Constantine looked at Circe with rage-filled eyes. Circe blew him a kiss as her body went to mist. John stood up and moved to rest in the corner of the cave. "Gotta regroup…refocus…this ain't over…This ain't done...it's only the first round…and I'm Ali."

Back in Gotham, numerous people gathered in hopes of trying catching shots of the ongoing2v5. At the start, they could only see glimpses of superman's heat-vision. Until Dendra had enough, then chose to cover the far limit of the crater with his flames. The poor people of Gotham charred, it wasn't every day they got a Meta fight this safe.

Porkum helped out by dropping globs of fire slimes all over the floor, but Geralt snuffed them out with water. Some of the smarter people watching started to assume Geralt's barrier let air in after all fire needed oxygen. A few criminals were tempted to carpet bomb the area with gas. But they didn't know the barrier was also acting as a filter.

Some people in the crowd started to complain about the limited vision, minor fights and arguments would breakout. One woman said, "I wish we could see more…some parts are still so dark."

A few gangsters were nearby when she said that, and one of them said. "Stop your bitching. Would you have the barrier down? I'm sure they drop it if you ask." The woman thought it over, some people heard his comments, and they looked at the woman with a face that said, "Don't you even think it."

Clark, Dendra, Ganesh, Bizarro had cuts all over their body. Porkum was unconscious; Geralt stabbed into all his joints then moved on as if the pig didn't exist. Porkum couldn't even heal the wounds because Geralt was constantly blowing the moister the slime off him with wind or damaging its atomic structure.

Normally Diana would have stopped him from being this brutal in public; however this time she made nothing of it. In fact, a small part of her was impressed. She thought he'd tunnel in on Porkum instead he dropped him in a brutal but efficient manner.

They both knew Clark would likely cry after all this was said and done. The man was a thru and thru Boy Scout, but frankly…they care. And if the audience outside saw him do this, most if not all of them would yell with glee.

Right now Diana and Geralt were surrounded by the five of them; they chose to stay back to back while limiting the use of the Royal Wonders enchantments. At one point everyone saw Clark fire his heat-vision at Diana. His attack bent around her and hit Ganesh right in his chest, they along with everyone watching thought it was Geralt doing.

But nobody knew it was the Royal Wonder's passive ability. The weapon was a destructive monster. When active its two main enchantments rendered projectiles useless and enhanced a user's main power.

Because of this Diana chose to stay silent, she represented truth and love. With the weapon in her hands, Clark, Boston, Dendra, Ganesh, and bizarre were already off their game. But she didn't want them profaning their love for things or people. She knew some villains could see thru the darkness surrounding them, and she would never forgive herself if an innocent got hurt.

This battle was quickly winding down, without the ability to land their ranged attacks they had to press forward. But none of them could break Diana and Geralt's defensives, for every attack they thru cuts would follow. Without Porkum's healing, blood loss became a real issue for them.

Ganesh was the second to drop; the lightning from the Royal Star had made his body go numb. Dendra followed next, his body never fully healed from his fight with Clark and now he had to fight two people with limited to no use of his powers.

Clark followed after; Geralt dropped him with red solar before dropping the Royal Star shield on him. The master-child seals security protocol to pin him to the ground. Diana stabbed Bizarro in the left knee and Geralt sent a gravity spear into his other.

They backed up and waited for Boston to leave Clark's body, instead, the darkness covering the barrier faded as a bright blue light blinded the civilians. The newly possessed Zatanna walked out of the portal yelling. "I dnammoc uoy emoc htiw em!"

Porkum, Dendra and Ganesh went flying into the portal. Geralt and Diana were slowly getting pulled in, as he looked into the portal he thought. 'Oh shit! It's connected to hell!' As Geralt push his currently limited power to its limit, his gravity caused the barrier to distort and crack.

Diana called the shield back while she held the sword out; when the shield connected she twisted the handle and slammed the ax into the ground. Diana's eyes began to twitch back and forth as she started focusing on something else she chose to trust Geralt with Zatanna.

The people-watching backed away; Zatanna raised her hand and said. "I dnammoc uoy emoc htiw me!" the portal's pull increased; Clark was pulled inside the portal. Boston brand was ripped out Clark, and the demon possessing Boston was ripped from him.

Geralt was about to reabsorb the 5'11 mini-me searching John when Diana yelled. "TURNED BACK, YOU JUST MISSED JOHN!"

Geralt's eyebrow rose, confusion was written all over his face. A light bulb went off in his head, "OH YAH! That seal spell allows us to share vision."

Diana's mouth dropped and her eyes went wide, "HOW DO YOU FORGE…NEVERMIND, just get him--." Diana stopped talked when Ra's came into view. Geralt pulled Diana in. And she asked, "What are you doing?"

He told her "No time, trust me. If things go south we need a way to render her plans useless from a safe distance."

With that he jumped towards the portal, their body began to glow with a blinding white light. The portal closed, Zatanna disappeared but in her place. Hidden by distorted light were a three-foot five tiny Diana and Geralt.
