Chapter 20: Case Two Begin!

Hours passed while Drew and the others set up everything they needed to. Alex continued to wait patiently at the van, reading through the tablet she was given. Sam had given Drew a run down of all the research she had done on the trip up and he was preparing for his narration for the show. Terry was placing remote cameras all over the hospital, hoping to complete the take before night.

Needing a break from reading her test, Alex looked out across the landscape and saw an abandoned playground across the road from the hospital. The metal to the swings and play bars had rusted beyond repair and tall grass stood throughout the cracking cement. That is why it confused her to see a small girl in white sitting on a swing, rocking back and forth. Alex squinted her eyes to try and get a better look, to make sure she was seeing what she was. Confused, she decided to get up and investigate. She stood up and turned around to place her tablet in the van. As she turned to head to the swing set, she noticed the little girl had vanished from sight. The only evidence she was even there was a swing moving in the wind.

"All this talk of ghosts must be getting to me." Alex said as she slapped her cheeks, in an attempt to snap out of it. She sat back down and picked up her tablet again.

"Okay everyone let's get ready!" Drew said as he headed towards the van. He noticed Alex studying her tablet as he approached. "So, are you learning anything greenhorn?!" He teased.

"Only that there is so much, I don't know." Alex replied with a smile. "I am looking forward to the investigation tonight!"

"Yeah, I think this will be a great one." Drew said. "This place has some real creepy vibes to it. But with a history like this place that is to be expected."

"Oh?" Alex said. "You want to tell me about it?"

"Sure!" Drew smiled. "When I tell the camera in a few minutes!"

"Hey Drew, what tools do you want to bring tonight?" Sam said as she hopped into the van.

"I think the spirit box, and the FLIR would be good ones." Drew said. "I will take the spirit box; you give Terry the FLIR."

Sam got the tools Drew asked for and tossed them at him. He caught them and placed them in his pockets. She then picked up the camera and placed it on her shoulder. "Alright Drew, we should film the intro while we still have some light." Sam said.

"You're right!" Drew said while getting into position in front of the hospital.

Sam stood a good distance from Drew where she could get him and the hospital in the shot. She used her free hand to count down from five silently for Drew. As she finished her count the light on the camera lit up and Drew knew it was show time.

"Welcome to Paranormal is the new Normal!" He said in his host voice. "The show that brings the paranormal right into your living room! Tonight, we have an incredibly special case, at another highly dangerous volatile location. Behind me is an old tuberculosis hospital from the eighteen hundreds, so much death filled this place on a daily basis, but that is not all of its tragic tale. Oh, no! One day a man lost his wife and children all in the same day to the deadly disease. He blamed the hospital for their deaths and vowed to get his vengeance. He showed up the next day with a machete and chopped his way through the nurses and doctors in his rage. He killed twelve nurses and three doctors before the police finally arrived and gunned him down at the scene."

Drew paused before continuing, letting his words sink into the viewers. "So, we have a place that was already filled to the brim with death, and then faced with tragedy. What kind of activity will we see tonight? I do not know. It is quite possible that we will run into the spirit of that grieving man who the police had to stop, it is also possible that we see the ghosts of people who died from TB. Regardless, it is bound to be an eventful night!"

As he finished Sam cut the camera off. "Good job Drew!" She said, giving him a thumbs up. "I think you really nailed that opening."

"Thanks!" Drew said. "Although how many times have I done this? If I did not have it down by now, that would be a problem."

"I guess you're right." Sam smiled. She noticed Terry exiting the hospital and waved at him. "Hey Terry, did you finish setting up the cameras?"

"Yeah, I got it done." Terry said. "Really not looking forward to tonight though, this place gives me the chills. I could have sworn I heard metal sliding on the wall in there."

"Could have just been the wind blowing through the old windows." Drew said. "I honestly believe this is a haunted location, though it's odd how we found it, we should make the best of it."

"If that demon bitch didn't die before my eyes," Terry started, "I would think that she gave you this address and this is all some sort of game to her."

"Yeah, but we saw her die." Drew smiled. "So, we found her via a fan, maybe that same fan brought us here. Oh, what if that fan is actually part of some secret society that knows all about haunted locations and is sending us to them to cleanse them?!"

"I think your imagination got the better of you Drew." Sam sighed. "Someone probably just found the story to this place online and sent you the address."

"By burning it on a piece of paper?" Drew said.

"It got your attention didn't it?" Sam smiled back.

"I guess." Drew sighed. "Oh Terry, think fast." He said as he pulled the FLIR out of his pocket and tossed it at Terry.

"Oh, I'm on FLIR tonight huh?" Terry said as he caught it.

"Alright let's check the cameras on the monitor and get his show on the road." Sam said as she booted up the van's computer. He set up a multi screen display where all twelve cameras could be seen at once. "Alex come here." Sam motioned to Alex. "Let me show you how to work this. IF you see something click on the image and it will bring it full screen. You see the camera number in the corner? Well once you confirmed that you saw something, radio us and give us the camera number. We will then head to that location and check it out. Can you do that?"

"Yes!" Alex said excitedly.

"Alright then!" Sam said as she exited the van. "I'm going to shut you in the van now for your safety." Sam said as she shut the van door.

Drew, Sam, and Terry then walked out of earshot of the van. "Okay, now that she can't hear us, I am freaking out guys!" Drew said. "What if this goes as badly as the ranch?!"

"Drew calm down." Sam said. "Or I am going to freak out too. If I freak out, Terry will freak out and then he will speak in third person all night. Is that what you want?"

"Terry doesn't want to freak out." Terry said.

"Too late." Drew laughed. "Seriously though guys, before we do this, I want to make sure we are all okay with this, unlike last time we have the option to leave. We do not have to do this."

"Sadly, we do Drew." Sam sighed. "The new girl would be a problem if we ran away. I mean she has to have some serious connections if the higher ups just assign her to our show. No, I need this job, I see we do it."

"Terry needs his job too!" Terry said.

"Alright then." Drew said. "Let's start the camera and get this show on the road."
