Chapter 44: Chapter Forty-Four(44)
Elysium was divided into several states to make things easier and several governors were picked to rule over each state. This was to make ruling a bit easier but at the end of the day, all power was still placed on the Smith family. With the entire continent mapped out and divided according to the various states, things were easier on the family then with James' governmental design that integrated Paris into basically everything. James didn't have to worry about any case of corruption or things like that because Paris was always there to catch the offender on time before or when said person is already on the act due to her limited Omniscience.
Anyway, Paris was normally able to perform octillions of tasks without straining herself so James didn't think this would affect her that much but still planned to Upgrade her nonetheless. Due to the Smith Family becoming Royalty for a mighty nation that its government was still a fledgling, they were extremely busy which meant a little less time with the family so James was stuck babysitting his cousin. The girl was cute and all but oh god, what James would give to make her sleep and rest, he loved children but it didn't mean that he could handle them well. Just a day with her had f**ked up his biology, he isn't supposed to be able to get tired, sleep or eat but a day with her and he is already tired as hell.
"Okay, sure, anything you want there, now let's go pick up some candy" James said in an exhausted tone then turned back to the store front. He didn't even know why he was here, he wanted the girl to sleep, not destroy the entirety of the East states with her hyperactive-ness.
"Thanks!!!" She shouted and grabbed James' hand as she happily dragged him into the store
"Good afternoon, sir, I want to buy candy" Cassy declared to the store owner as soon as she entered the store
"Aww! Who's this cutie, what type of candy do you wa…. Oh My prince!" The store owner suddenly remarked when he noticed James standing behind with an awkward smile
"Hi.. good day sir" James said awkwardly at first then responded with confidence a bit later.
Yeah, James was the absolute face of Elysium and you can imagine all the "freedom" that came with that. As the one behind Elysium, James was made the face of the entire nation so his behavior was basically always under scrutiny but it didn't affect James' life so much because well, he was more of the indoors guy and is only outside when it was needed unlike now that due to the absolute boredom of staying with Cassy at home, they had come out for a stroll. James didn't have to worry about anything like kidnapping or so simply because Paris had the entire nation's security under absolute control with all of the Elysium police, one sees on the streets just been an A.I controlled mini-hard-light construct.
These things were created by using a small hard-light hologram projector then Paris took control, projecting whatever she wanted, mostly images of people of all colour and gender, each manning a station like real policemen. This was made so simply because James wanted the nation's police to be absolutely trained and actually knew what they were doing. James believed that the reason why some of the policemen in his past life were so messed up was simply because they didn't work that hard for their uniform.
Take the army for example, you would hardly see a soldier misbehaving in uniform simply because they know how hard they had worked to get it, they had gone through hell and back just to put on their uniforms so even if soldiers are just basically giant babies because they can do some very stupid shit but they understand the purpose of their uniform and job unlike the police that just gets out of training after three(3) months or even sometimes less then next thing you know, some bastard somewhere is trigger happy. On Elysium, James wanted the police to spend at the very least, three(3) years of training before being posted on the field so that when they put on that uniform, they know they worked for it and would be too scared to misbehave in it and until then, Paris was the security of the Nation and goodluck trying to corrupt her.
Anyway with Paris providing absolute security, James could go around the streets of the nation without any form of entourage and still be absolutely safe, not that he really needed it, the Nullification Field may have suppressed his God-like powers but they were still there and maybe affected only him and on top of that, the nullification field doesn't work on physical abilities that are perfectly natural. For example; The Nullification Field took away his reality warping powers but James was still able to lift up to five(5) tons and run faster than a speeding race car. This was because this was a natural part of his body, his muscles and all had been strengthened to that level so anyone with strength that isn't a result of some sort of Gene like the X-Gene or Inhuman gene, was somewhat safe. People like Captain America were safe, then the Sentry and Hulk would immediately revert back to normal because they draw power from extra-dimensional places.
Hulk draws power from the Below-place and Gamma Radiation so the field would basically cut off his connection and erase all the gamma radiation in him, Sentry on the other hand was tricky since at times, he draws power from the sun and things like that but if James was right then Sentry's abilities really came from some extra-dimensional space with literal endless power as it was in the old days. The guy was omnipotent, a serum can't make you omnipotent, it can only connect you to a place to gain such powers so theoretically the field would remove all his powers but even if it doesn't, it would definitely remove all his extra abilities that isn't just based on his body, like his molecular Manipulation, his telekinesis, his telepathy etc. Even his strength would be massively reduced to acceptable levels. With all that in place and James as the face of the nation, you get a situation like this.
