Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Letting go of the past

“Come here,” I say to her as I pull her hand and make her sit on my lap. “I need to be distracted.” She kisses my forehead and sighs; I can sense her uneasiness and it makes me curious. I am still angry at the world, but I need to know she is well. “I am sorry for all this drama.”

She shakes her head. “Don’t you dare apologize,” she says and kisses my lips, grounding me. “I don’t believe this. At least I don’t believe all of them had something to do with this.”

I shake my head as I replay the words in my head over and over again. “There was no hesitation in his words.”

She looks at Xavier while she wraps her arm around my shoulder. “Who told you this? Who gave you this information?” She frowns and waits for an answer.

How do I explain to her what was happening? How do I tell her about my plans? How do I reveal to her that I tortured and murdered others to get this information? She will see me for the true monster I have become.
