Chapter 32: Planning to Leave

Whilst the sky turned dark, the temperature grew colder. It was chilling and at this point of time, they were all sitting in the camping bus, preparing to sleep. There were three beddings at the back of the camping bus and the top was truly narrow. If it was not children, they wouldn't be able to fit in.

"Can you get in?" Sienna asked.

Gloria nodded, trying to squeeze into the narrow place. It was only at this time that Gloria felt her small body was useful. The place was quite comfortable with the warm blanket. "It's pretty good."

"Good then."

Sienna looked at the others. There were three men and one woman while each bedding could only contain two people at most. It meant that she needed to either share the bed with one of them or took the couch instead of the bed.

"I'll sleep on the couch," William volunteered and sat down on the couch. He pulled the blanket that they have prepared there and put his gun on his hand, ready to be used whenever it was necessary.

"Thank you."

Yakov pointed to the three layer of beds. "Which one do you want to pick?"

"I'll just pick the second one so that you can get out easily," Sienna replied.

"Got it."

The beddings were already ready since Rozan already prepared it all beforehand. For the night, they all rested inside the camping bus. There was no one who made any kind of sound as they rested. No matter what they were thinking, time passed slowly.

William woke up the earliest when he heard faint banging sound. He stood up and grabbed his gun before he made his way to the door. His eyes were still adjusting in the darkness as he tried to get a clear view of everything around him.

'Xermo? Or human?'

He didn't know.

Slowly, William made his way around the garage. There was no one else inside the garage but the five of them. It was then he heard the faint sound once more. It was coming from outside the garage but the sound sounded near enough.

William walked to the pile of trashes… or could be said treasures by Rozan and stepped on them. There was one window in the garage that was located quite high. It took him some time before he could reach the top and peeked from the window.

There was nothing near them.

In a distance, William could see a few Xermo was roaming around. The gang members wouldn't bother to clean them up so early in the morning. It was still dark, probably because it was still 4 in the morning.

Normal people would still love to sleep at this time.

"Anyone outside, Willi?"

"A few Xermo," William responded and jumped down. He noticed that Yakov had woken up too. The two of them were soldiers, so it was not that weird that they would be able to wake up even at the slightest disturbance around them.

"What do you plan to do?" Yakov asked, his hands were holding onto guns that was ready to be used.

William raised his hand and shook his head. "We'll divide into two groups. One will go over to the convenience store first and the other one will stay in the camping bus."

"Convenience store?"

"We need to store water and food. You don't think the few canned food that we have brought with us is enough, right?"

Yakov opened his mouth then closed it again. Well, they only brought a few canned foods with them because that was all they could bring along. Now that they have more people, their food would decrease even faster.

"It'll be best if we can find a method to get food easily."

"Do you want to farm?"

"…It'll still take months."

"And the place is not safe enough," William added. He walked to the camping bus again, planning to wake the others. If they truly wanted to create a place that was self-sufficient, they would need a long time to reach that.

Besides, would there be a place safe enough for them to do that?

The dangers from both the Xermo and the lawless people around this place would not give them any chance to breathe freely. To be able to find a place like that wouldn't be easy at all.

"How about going to the settlement that the government already set up?" Yakov asked.

"That'll be for the best." Especially since many others might not be able to survive in this kind of situation.

"Wake up."

It took some time before William could wake the others up. Thankfully, after living in this kind of situation for a few days, they were already more alert and capable to wake up almost immediately after being told to wake up.

William briefed his plan to them. He wanted some of them headed to the convenience store first and began to unload the items while the others stayed in the camping bus and departed only after it was deemed to be safe.

"We'll need to list down what we need," Sienna said from the side.

"There's not many things you can find in a convenience store. We might only be able to take some food and water."

"Uhm, how about the women's necessities?"

"…We can bring it with us later."

"Thank you!"

After a while, their list suddenly got longer. They would need clothes too but for now, they would settle with only taking the soap, shampoo, and other bath necessities that they might need. Even though they wouldn't be able to take a bath for the time being, having the items first would be good enough.

Besides, the camping bus had a personal small bathroom inside.

"Alright, now that it's settled, who will go?"

Silence.
