Rumors about what happened in the forest were already spreading like wildfire, improvised storytellers gleefully sharing it all. 

How had a regular outing to get wood turned into 1) Finding legendary elves and 2) starting a war with them?! Many were already having headaches.

Some furious players were already petitioning, calling for Jack's demise, but others were simply chuckling as they reveled in the tales. 

"He waved his hand, and the shadow monsters charged at the—"

"Shadow monsters? Since when are there shadow monsters in the forest?!" 

"Tch— Who cares about that! So he drove the elves to hide in their village, and then he…." 

Jaws hung lower and lower as the man recounted the events. As the players were all shitting their slips expecting the shadows to turn and try to devour them, Jack had stepped forward.
