Chapter 238: Haru You Had Friends?
"Well My Lord said that he will be fine on his own, Anyway I will go and clean the bedroom and your room is on the first floor furthest on the left wing," Queresha answered Jin-woo with a sigh before exiting the room leaving a surprised Jin-woo.
"Wait isn't Haru's room in the right wing?" Jin-woo muttered as he was pretty much sent to the other side of the house. It wouldn't matter much if this was a normal place since the range in which he can sense people is quite large add his shadow servant and it hikes up.
But the point is this house is anything but normal.
'I wonder what Queresha did to reduce my range down to 50 meters? And I even lose the connection with the shadow servants if they are 100 meters away from me,' Jin-woo was curious about how Queresha did this but he knew that the price for this will be steep.
As for why he didn't think that Haru was the one who did this?
'Eh~, I can just beat up the person who tries to sneak in,' Jin-woo can already imagine Haru saying those words with a lazy look.
"Plus it is not like he needs something like this anyway," Jin-woo shrugged while finishing the tea.
'Should I take some back for Joo-hee? She might like it,' Jin-woo thought and walked back to his room after he tried to find the light switches for the room but gave up since he couldn't.
"I guess they don't need to worry about the electricity bill here?" Jin-woo tapped his chin while closing the door and went towards his room.
But after 5 seconds of him leaving the room, the lights went out.
In the middle of the night,
'Let's see how things turn out, It is also a good chance for everyone to grow especially Jin-ah, Zenobia, and Alea,' Haru thought while lying down on his bed.
"Haru what are you thinking?" Jin-ah asked in a somewhat sleepy voice.
"Nothing just go back to sleep," Haru spoke slowly so that he doesn't wake up others.
"Okie," Jin-ah said slowly hugging Haru tightly feeling him pat her back slowly.
"….Say Haru do we really have to fight them?" Jin-ah asked slowly, if possible she didn't want to fight humans or human-like creatures.
"It is not like they will leave us be if we don't do anything, But it is fine if you don't want to," Haru spoke in a gentle tone, he didn't want to force Jin-ah if she really didn't want to participate in the fight. Even after bringing things to this stage, it didn't matter, if it had any adverse effects on Jin-ah Haru will just abort the mission.
"But….." Jin-ah stopped because she didn't know what to say.
'I do hope she can get over it, But it will be fine even if she doesn't…' Haru thought while holding Jin-ah close.
"No need to worry just take things at your own pace all of us will support you, Right everyone?" Haru spoke up surprising Jin-ah, And hearing his words Queresha, Kanae, and Hae-in who were sleeping or more like pretending to sleep woke up.
"C'mon Haru there was no need to do that," Hae-in pouted.
"Yes H-Haru there was no need," Queresha also agreed but she was still a bit shy since she was calling Haru by his name.
"U-Unnies?" Jin-ah stuttered coming out of her stupor.
"Jin-ah we all knew how you were feeling about this because we have been through it as well," Kanae spoke after she finished glaring at Haru making him wave his hands.
Jin-ah looked at Queresha and Hae-in as they nodded in agreement to Kanae's statement. They've had their own experiences with it.
"...How did Unnies do it?" Jin-ah asked making the other three look between them before looking at her again.
"Jin-ah If you are thinking listening to our situation will help you then that isn't going to be the case," Queresha spoke up first since she was the one with the most understanding on this matter.
"Taking another person's life is something that will never get easier no matter how many times you do it," Kanae said with a slight frown.
"It is easier if you are a psycho and have something wrong with your head," Hae-in added to Kanae's words making the others look at her.
'That wasn't necessary,' the others rolled their eyes as they saw Hae-in smile wryly.
Jin-ah had a sullen look since she really thought that talking to everyone will help her ease her anxiety but that wasn't the case.
"Jin-ah you should know that what we are doing isn't indiscriminate killing, We are fighting people who wouldn't hesitate to take our lives the moment they get the chance, Although I am averse to taking another's life but if that someone threatens my loved ones then I see no problem in ending them, Since mercy to an enemy is being cruel to yourself, That is what I have learned in my life," Queresha said making everyone look at her.
It wasn't a secret among them at this point that she suffered a lot watching her own world being destroyed by her own body and even before that as an Empress she should've seen many different things. They can't all imagine the helplessness she must've felt at the moment but here they can see how she is still living through them.
"Well, in my case it was during a mission when my guild had to exterminate some underground hunter guild based in the Shiba district, They were running a human trafficking ring there," Kanae spoke with a sigh.
"It must've been hard for you unnie," Jin-ah answered as she looked at Kanae. No matter how tough Kanae looked they all knew that she was the kindest person in the group.
"It was necessary so don't worry," Kanae smiled a little patting Jin-ah's head. Hae-in was snickering at the sight while Kanae ignored her.
"What about you Hae-in unnie?" Jin-ah looked at Hae-in.
"Me? Well I had to kill some Hunter killers that attacked my party in the dungeon and this happened just after I became an S-Rank hunter, It wasn't easy as I nearly died because I didn't want to kill them at first, Although Kimchi Jigae didn't taste good for a couple of days, I was able to get over it since it would be fatal in my line of work if I brood over this because we face a lot of humanoid monsters," Hae-in answered with a wry smile.
'Kimchi jigae (Kimchi Stew) didn't taste good for Hae-in Unnie? Isn't that like her favorite?' Jin-ah thought a bit shocked, Kimchi jigae to Hae-in was like Fried Chicken to Jin-ah.
But that thought didn't last long as hearing the three's words sent Jin-ah deep into thought.
'Queresha Unnie said it as well, what if I make a….mistake?' Jin-ah thought thinking if something happened to others because of her choice.
"Oh, I didn't know you were so naïve?" Kanae scoffed at Hae-in.
"Come on I don't need to be chided by our neighborhood softie," Hae-in laughed at Kanae making the latter angry.
"Who are you calling a softie? And what are you smiling at?" Kanae growled at Hae-in before snapping at Haru who was looking at them with a smile. Kanae's words brought the other three attention to Haru as well.
"I was just really happy seeing you all being like this," Haru spoke with a soft smile. Kanae was blushing a bit with Queresha and Hae-in smiling.
"Fufu, I bet you are surprised seeing your harem being so well-behaved, eh?" Hae-in grinned impishly while hugging Haru.
"H-Hae-in what are you saying?" Kanae's blush deepened.
"I have heard about many such cases of infighting in my empire," Queresha nodded as well, Jin-ah was confused since her knowledge of harems was limited to novels and the Harems always worked out in those.
"Why are you guys like this?" Kanae pouted unhappily while getting closer to Haru followed by Jin-ah and Queresha.
"Say Haru how did you feel about it?" Jin-ah asked curiously since she heard about everyone's experience she wanted to know about Haru as well. The other three were also curious.
"Well it wasn't good, But it is not that we can change the circumstances now can we?" Haru spoke while patting Jin-ah's back. The others thought about his words as well since it was the same for them. Circumstances make people do things they won't do.
"Anyway my friends helped me with it, so it was all fine," Haru spoke with a bright smile.
"You had friends? Why didn't I know of this?" Jin-ah was shocked.
