Chapter 67: Chapter 64: Prelude To Phantom Menace Episode III

[Bright Jewel System, Ord Mantell]

(3rd Person: POV)

Standing in a small clearing, within one of the numerous junkyards which dotted the surface of Ord Mantell, Khaleen Hentz paced back and forth.

Still unable to believe she was in her current situation.

And all because of one simple mistake.

A few weeks ago on the outer rim planet of Garel Khaleen came across came across a mercenary who had recently been making a name for themselves.

Moriarty.

Having heard about said mercenary Khaleen decided to check them out to see if they lived up to all the hype.

Which normally she wouldn't do, but everyone knew the legendary mercenary Arwen Cohl worked for Moriarty in their newly created mercenary squadron called Dominicus, and given Cohl's reputation Khaleen find herself interested in the person who could get that man and his people to become their subordinates.

So she followed Moriarty around for a while, and in doing so learned they had some nice equipment.

This caused her thief instincts to flare up.

So Khaleen decided to steal a bit of Moriarty's equipment and sell it to make some quick creds.

Only when she tried to do so she was immediately caught.

By the droid Khaleen had seen accompanying Moriarty. Which the female thief assumed was just an ordinary protocol droid.

Khaleen soon learned how wrong she was.

Before she knew it the droid accompanying Moriarty had restrained her, and was then questioning her with a horrible ruthlessness.

Khaleen had never encountered such a droid in her entire life.

She felt as if she the droid was death incarnate.

As such she answered all the droids questions without fail.

Then once it was done with her it prepared to kill her. However before it could it's master and owner, Moriarty stepped in.

They then gave Khaleen a choice. Either come work for Dominicus or die.

Without any hesitation Khaleen chose the former.

Now here she was, a member of the Dominicus mercenary squadron.

Which she had to admit was not bad at all.

She got good food, training, and found the atmosphere her fellow mercenaries generated comforting.

As an orphan who grew up on the streets, thieving to survive she had never experienced such a thing before.

But Khaleen had to admit, she liked it.

Thus before Khaleen Hentz knew it she was a full-fledged member of Domincus. Whether she herself admitted it or not.

Continuing to pace back and forth Khaleen stopped in her tracks when she saw a ship descending towards her location.

Looking at it she knew it was the ship belonging to the people her fellow members of Dominicus had arranged for her to meet here.

In order to procure a shipment they had arranged for. A shipment they didn't want anyone tracking, so they used illegal means to obtain it.

Before Khaleen knew it the ship had landed.

A few seconds after its landing gear hit the ground the ships boarding ramp descended, and it opened up.

Right after this occurred three figures walked down the ramp. Two of them pushing repulsorlift carts filled with crates.

The two individuals in question pushing the repulsorlift carts being droids. Specifically two IG-86 Sentinel Droid's.

While the third and last individual was the smuggler Dominicus had contacted to bring the shipments here to the meeting spot on Ord Mantell.

The Devaronian, Vilmarh Grahrk.

----------------------------------------------

Perched on a large pile of ship scrap over a kilometer away from the meeting that was taking place between Vilmarh and Khaleen, HK-47 lay prone, observing said meeting through the scope of his sniper rifle.

An IQA-11 blaster rifle.

Which just like all his weapons he modified to his own specifications.

While he watched the meeting go down HK-47 heard everything that was said, for Khaleen was wearing a hidden comms device that the hunter-killer droid had synced his own internal comm system with.

"Hey there lovely lady, so we doing this deal or not?" Vilmarh asked.

"We are." Khaleen replied. "But before I hand over any credits I need to see what's in those crates. You show me the goods, you get your money." She spoke.

"Sure, sure." Vilmarh replied. He then snapped his fingers.

The second after he did so the IG-86 Sentinel Droid's opened the crates, revealing their contents.

Which is exactly what Dominicus, or rather his master Van had brokered a deal for Vilmarh to bring to this meeting. Large amounts of Cortosis and Phrik.

Seeing the contents of the crates was exactly what Vilmarh had agreed to bring Khlaeen nodded her head. "Alright, you kept up your end so I'll keep up mine." She spoke.

Khaleen then raised her left hand into the air and made a gesture.

A moment after he did another Dominicus member came out of hiding and walked up to Khaleen, holding a briefcase in his hands.

Handing it to her she then opened it and showed its contents to VIlmarh, which was a large amount of credits.

"Just as promised, your payment." Khaleen spoke.

She then closed the briefcase and handed it over to Vilmarh who easily accepted it.

"Thanks lovely lady." Vilmarh replied. "This was a good deal, but you know, given what I went through to get all this Cortosis and Phrik I think I deserve a bit more, don't you?"

"Don't get greedy. You've already been payed so leave." Khaleen coldly replied.

"Yeah, I think not." Vilmarh spoke. He then raised his free hand. The moment after he did so the IG-86 droids pulled hidden blaster pistols out of compartments on their bodies and aimed them at Khaleen and her ally. "Nothing personal darling jut-"

*Bang! Bang! Bang!*

Vilmarh never got to finish his sentence, for before he could HK-47 fired a round from his rifle which hit the Devaronian right behind the eyes. Killing him instantly.

The other two shots HK-47 fired disabled the IG-86 droids.

Once this was done HK-47 contacted Khaleen through the comms

"Statement: That was a fine job you did pink-haired female meatbag. It seems my master was in his right behind when he kept me from terminating you on Garel when you attempted to steal from him." HK-47 spoke.

Wondering why his master would save just a simple thief, when it would've been so much more efficient to simply end her life.

Yet like most of the time HK-47 got no definite answer from his master on his actions.

A pattern the assassin droid has noticed ever since he made Van his master a couple of years ago. HK-47 noticed how his master seemed to know things other didn't.

And while HK-47 was curious as too how much exactly his master hiding from him he chose not to pursue an answer.

For he really enjoyed having Van as his master.

Or as close to enjoyment as robot with HK-47 origins and personality could get.

After all Van had kept to his word and has allowed HK-47 to engage in glorious battle and the extermination of various meatbags. He is even now putting his assassin skills to the best of use.

Like just a short while ago his master had him eliminate a female meatbag known as Jenna Zan Arbor.

Who actually proved to be quite the challenging target to eliminate for HK-47. Even so he still accomplished his mission and exterminated her.

Working with Van, HK-47 couldn't help but access his memory banks and recall his days working with his creator Revan.

"Nostalgia: Ah, I missed this." HK-47 stated.

His eyes glowing with intensity after.

A moment after this happened HK-47 stood to his feet, collected his rifle, and went to join up with the meatbags working with his master so he could help secure and deliver the Cortosis and Phrik to him.

-----------------------------------

Pushing a single repulsorlift cart, filled with the crates of Cortosis and Phrik that Dominicus had collected from the now deceased Vilmarh Grahrk, HK-47 entered the cargo hold of the Milano.

Where Van was practicing the lightsaber combat forms, using the Jar'Kai style.

While the Noetikon of Light was open, and Jedi master Wole Vahn was observing him.

"Yes, good. You are making excellent progress. But you still have a long way to go." Master Vahn.

"Yes, I know master Vahn." Van replied.

Then when he saw HK-47 he stopped practicing. He then gave a slight bow to Vahn. "Once again, thank you for your instruction." Van spoke. He then stood back up.

Giving Van a curt nod Vahn's hologram disappeared and the Van closed the Noetikon of Light.

Once he did so he put it back in the case he first discovered the Noetikon's in, alongside the Noetikon's of Science and Secrets.

After Van did this he went over to HK-47. "So, I take it everything went well?"

"Sarcastic statement; Oh no master, everything went horribly. We did not get the shipment and I am simply bringing you empty crates for my personal amusement" HK-47 said.

"Right, so is Vilmarh dead?" Van asked. Ignoring HK-47 usual snark.

"Yes, that Devornian meatbag, and those inferior assassin droids, he used had to be terminated for they threatened the life of the purple-haired meatbag who attempted to steal from you on Garel." HK-47 explained. "Query: I do wonder why you did not let exterminate her then?"

"I thought she could be a good asset." Van replied. "And it seems I was right." He spoke.

Not telling HK-47 the real reason he saved Khaleen is because he would feel bad if his droid killed Quinlan Vos's potential future wife.

He never expected to meet her like he did.

But since he did he decided to recruit her, for he knew what she could become.

And once again Van's instincts didn't fail him, since ever since he "recruited" Khaleen into Dominicus he had only heard good things about her work.

"Statement: Very well master." HK-47 replied.

He then helped Van organize the crates of Cortosis and Phrik.

Once he did HK-47 left Van alone.

A moment after he did so Van walked over to the Noetikon chest and took from it the Noetikon of Science.

Van then opened it.

A second after he did so he found himself face-to-face with a hologram of Jedi master Arca Jeth.

The Arkanian Jedi who not only lived during the time of his ancestor Nomi, but was also her Jedi master for a brief period of time. The same with the Qel-Droma brothers Ulic and Cay.

"Greetings young Jedi, I am Jedi master Arca Jeth. What knowledge do you seek from the Noetikon of knowledge?" The hologram of Arca asked Van.

"I seek to know if you can help me forge Jedi battle armor?" Van asked.

For that's why he went through the trouble of obtaining Cortosis and Phrik in the first place. It was going to be the basis for his Jedi battle armor.

Vilmarh's death was an added bonus. Considering all the trouble that bastard was involved in.

"Yes, the Noetikon possesses such knowledge and me and the other masters will assist you in your endeavor young Jedi." Arca Jeth spoke.

"Excellent." Van spoke.

Unable to stop a grin from forming on his face.

For he couldn't wait to see the look on Maul's face when they finally faced each other in battle.
