At the very moment Vaughn began to introduce Valyr to his next reward, a faint hint of expectation appeared in the latter's eyes, wondering if it would be as amazing as the other rewards he'd obtained so far.

However, after seeing the man turn a normal-looking log into a wooden talisman before his very eyes, as well as give him a heads-up that the reward might seem lacking beforehand, that expectation instantly disappeared.

'A talisman that would allow me to request his help wherever and whenever,' thought Valyr to himself, faintly nodding as he had an idea of why Vaughn was giving him something like that.

In his mind, the reason why Vaughn had given him something like that was so that he could basically escape whenever he got into an emergency or an incredibly dire situation.

Then again, no matter how useful an item like that was to him in his current state, the talisman was ultimately just him borrowing the power of another person as help.
