Chapter 7: Chapter 7 : Team 10
A few days later finally the team assignment took place.
Shikamaru was thankful that neither his father nor the Hokage did anything after he suddenly appeared where Naruto stole the forbidden scroll.
For the next 2 days, Shikamaru finally rested before really starting his shinobi journey.
So here he was in the ninja academy where he was waiting for Iruka for to assign all of them to their teams.
"Naruto Baka, get away from Sasuke," Shouted either Sakura or Ino. Can't tell as both were equally annoying.
'Wait a minute,' Shikamaru looked at how Naruto was sitting on top of the desk, right in front of Sasuke and remembered what happened in the anime.
"Tch, just how troublesome these kids are," Shikamaru muttered to himself and immediately immobilised his shadow which rushed towards Naruto to catch him from giving his first kiss to Sasuke.
"Chu"
'Well at least I tried,' Shikamaru gave 2 minutes of silence for poor Naruto and to some extent even Sasuke.
"What were you doing, Shikamaru," Choji, still munching on chips, asked as he was sitting just beside Shikamaru when he saw Shikamaru's shadow extending towards Naruto.
"I thought that something like that would happen so I wanted to stop them but was not fast enough," Shikamaru explained as he pointed towards both Sasuke and Naruto who were running from the girls.
"Oh but your shadow is slow, you need to make it quick," Choji said and again went back to his eating.
Sigh, that's an issue with his technique. It's not very fast. He needs to find a way to fix that, and him being able to use the shadow in more ways than just possession. If that's the only technique he has in his arsenal that he can perform, as shadow summons are different as they are summoned and not him fighting, he better learn how to use this one technique to its entirely.
His current rate of training is improving but it's too slow.

Soon Iruka arrived and started to assign the teams.
"Alright students, listen carefully, here I have the team arrangement," Iruka said as everyone calmed down and sat down.
Once he saw that there was silence in the class, he finally started, "let's start with team one...
Team 2...
Team 3...
Team 4...
Team 5...
Team 6...
Team 7 will be Naruto Uzumaki...."
"Yay, I am in a team, awesome Dattebayo,"
'Eye twitch,'
"Team 7 will be Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno..."
"Sakura Chan, we are in the same team, .....
'Twitch'

"Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha, your jonin sensei is Kakashi Hatake"
"Whattttt, why emo Sasuke."
'Revenge'
'Happy smirk on the face from both Iruka and Shikamaru,'
"Team 8 will be Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inozuka Aburame Shino, and your jonin sensei is Kurenai Yuhi.
Team 9 is well in the roster and finally, Team 10 will be...
Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanaka and Choji Aburame, and you Jonin sensei is Sarutobi Asuma."
'So the team doesn't change, this just works out as I planned. This will also keep the story as close to a canon.
After all, my knowledge of the plot is a weapon I have, of course as long as I will be using that knowledge, the cannon will be changed one way or other but overall, I would like to keep the cannon as much as possible.' Shikamaru thought and silently waited for the Jonin sensei to come.
Soon enough the Jonin sensei came, there were many, and Shikamaru could even point out a few of them, like Asuma with his burry and buff physic and all that smoke around him by smoking, Kurenai with her striking red eyes and beautiful face and black hairs and even Hayate Gekko, Shikamaru doesn't remember what his role was in the anime, he is sure that it was not that important character.
"Team 10 with me," said Asuma after taking out another cigarette from his pocket after Kurenai snatched the one he was smoking.
But like little ducklings, all the members of the new Ino Chika Cho started to follow their new Jonin sensei.

"I am Asuma Sarutobi, I like barbecue and resting under the sun. My dreams, well currently I don't have any and I absolutely don't like manipulative people.
There, this is how you need to introduce yourself now go on," Asuma sighed as he showcased how he wanted them to introduce themselves.
"..."
Seeing no one coming out to start, Asuma sighed even harder with irritation, he never wanted to be a Jonin sensei but his father the third Hokage forced him to be one, anyway.
"Well ladies first, go ahead," Asuma pointed at Ino and sighed to introduce herself.
Ino didn't hesitate at all and immediately said. "I am Ino Yamanaka, I like flowers and .....*Blush*....., My dream is to be a strong kunoichi and .....*Blush*....., and what I don't like, well I don't know yet," Ino said with a bright smile on her face.
Asuma with his years of experience easily saw the signs of a fangirl inside Ino, after all, he was also in the same class as one Kakashi Hatake and damn it was annoying.
"Okay, you go next, fa..." He was about to say fatty but the immediate negative reaction from both Ino and Shikamaru stopped him, he internally thought that he just dodged a bullet there.
"I mean Akimichi, you go next," He completed his sentence and sighed for him to go on.
"I am Choji Akimichi, I like food, especially chips, my dream is to be a good shinobi like my pops and I don't like people calling me fat," Choji said while the last part was a little more personal.
Asuma just sighed and appreciated both Ino and Shikamaru for their help, "And you Nara,"
"I am Shikamaru Nara, I used to like taking naps and playing sogi, but now I am more into working out and training. I don't have any particular dream besides being able to live a normal life. I don't like being weak, so I am working hard to get stronger," Shikamaru said while making both Choji and Ino snap their heads towards him like they saw the ghost of Tobirama Senju.
Choji even once stopped eating when he heard Shikamaru is training while Ino didn't even believe Shikamaru, but when thinking how troublesome lying is for Shikamaru, she didn't know whether he was lying or not.
"Hmm, okay then let start our Genin test," Asuma said.
"Didn't we did it already, like 2 days ago," Ino asked with confusion.
"That is just qualifying round, the real test is gonna happen now. Its simple enough, all three of you attack me. If I don't find you three strong enugh then I will fail you," Asuma said with a smirk appearing on his face, something making Shikamaru believe that this test is goona be TROUBLESOME.
