Chapter 10: Protectors of Elsa
Chris carried Elsa to her room and confronted her dogs as soon as he tucked her in bed comfortably. There is so much he needs to learn about her and the mystery that is surrounding her so-called father.
He saw in his memories that he adopted Elsa when she was just a teenager and could not see anything beyond that. The memories were there, but it was as if there was a barrier preventing him from seeing them.
"Who are you mutts? You are not a regular wolf, you are smaller and disobedient to me." Chris glared at the dogs who were keenly watching his every move.
"We are not mutts, Your Highness. They call us huskies in this world, cousins of the wolves and we are the protectors of Elsa. She calls me Ciel." The white dog said.
"Protectors? Who does she need protection from?" Chris questioned the old dog with a raised eyebrow to intimidate them since they were clearly more loyal and obedient to Elsa. His alpha aura doesn't scare them a bit.
"I am afraid I cannot tell you. Our memories were erased by our creator except for our ultimate goal in life, which is to protect Elsa with our life no matter what," Ciel answered.
Chris squinted his eyes, 'Do you believe them, Yakobo?'
[Least of my concerns… hmph] Yakobo responded.
'You're still mad at me? Unbelievable!' Chris cannot believe that his wolf would continue with his attitude even after their encounter with Elsa's dad.
"How about Elsa's so-called dad, why are you allowing him to go near her? You should protect her from that man. He is hiding something." Chris said to test if they would spill information.
"She was already with him when Elsa took us in. He is a good man and loves Elsa like his own daughter." Ciel said.
"And you just beat him to death! You crazy war freak werewolf! Elsa will kill you when she finds out what you did to her father." Nile aggressively uttered. Even though Ciel tells them that he is a prince, he just simply doesn't care.
He is in their world, and in their world he is no prince. Nothing mattered to him other than Elsa.
"Oh! I almost forgot about him. Lead me to his room, I'll fix everything. I don't want my mate to be angry with me." Chris then took Dr. Arden to his bed and he cleaned up the mess that they caused due to their violent confrontation.
He has so many questions in his mind but even the dogs can't answer those.
'Do you think the old mage did something to Hera?' Chris asked his wolf while cleaning up. He recalled the old mage who was trying to keep the portal open as she tried to stay alive just to save Hera.
[She said Hera is granddaughter so it's only natural to do everything that you can to save a loved one's life. Magic is so complicated for me to understand, but I think it is possible.] Yakobo replied.
'This is good progress. You are talking to me again!' Chris jested.
[Only if it concerns our mate.] Yakobo tersely replied which made Chris chuckle. He knows that his wolf won't be angry at him forever and this is just the first step.
'So do you think it is also possible that the old mage cast a spell for Hera to be young once again and be Elsa?' Chris is trying his best to think of all the possible things that could connect Princess Hera to Elsa.
[That is not magic. That's witchcraft. Only witches can use black magic. Hera's grandmother is a divine mage so it's impossible.] Yakobo pointed.
'I know, but witchcraft requires a sacrifice. We saw her in her adult form and clearly no living sacrifices were made since we didn't see anything like that before we entered the portal right?' Chris explained.
[How about their scent? I cannot go wrong about it.] Yakobo is sure that Hera is not their mate since Elsa's Lavender and blueberry scent is different and it is strong. Not strong in the sense that it is pungent but it is strong in the sense that it makes his blood alive and evokes his strongest desires.
[They have similarities, but not the same.] Yakobo added.
'The mage was protecting Hera so she could have cast a cloaking spell on her, masking her true appearance and scent. Plus the huskies are protecting her so it is possible that it is all the work of the old mage.'
[You are forgetting something here, my prince. Princess Hera is also a mage. It could be that she has done all of those to herself to run away from you and hide. And it is also possible that Elsa is just pretending to not know anything. You have seen the glow on her wrist, it could be that she is the one who healed you.] Yakobo suggested.
Chris sighed. He is done cleaning up but he still has a lot of energy left. Yakobo's thoughts did not leave his mind and decided to investigate further.
He looked for the white husky for she seemed more friendly and wise compared to the hot-headed Nile and Nuri. The other husky, Gaia, doesn't seem like she will give him any information at all for she is too loyal to her master.
The clinic where he and Dr. Arden fought is in front of their huge property while their house is in the middle of it so he had to walk back to Elsa's house to look for the old dog. He found the white dog on the porch who was on alert mode even though it was already midnight.
"Where are the others?" Chris asked Ciel.
"Roaming around. Guarding."
"What are you doing here?" Chris added.
"Guarding too. And you, Your Highness? Why are you still here?" Ciel asked back.
"I told you, your master is my mate and I am not leaving this place without her," Chris said and he sat beside the old wise dog.
"Then you are looking for trouble. All four of us have superpowers. I'm sorry, Your Highness, but you can't take our girl"
Chris sneered, "Really? You have superpowers–" Chris pursed his lips trying hard to stop himself from laughing while looking at Ciel.
[HAHAHA! They are going to kill their enemies with cuteness. Right! That's their superpower! HAHAHA!] Yakobo laughed out loud.
'Shut up! You are making me laugh too! I don't want to offend the nice old lady, Yakobo. Where are your manners?' Chris scolded his wolf who just kept on laughing.
"I am curious though. Why do you keep on calling me 'Your Highness'?" Chris asked the old dog once again.
"Are you not? Shall I call you 'Your Majesty' then? You are a true alpha, only a King and the heir to the throne can have those eyes." Ciel explained.
Chris frowned and felt confused, "You said your memories were erased? How come you know about that?"
"Important and useful memories were retained. It only comes when needed. Now if you will excuse me, Your Highness, this old lady needs some sleep. Since you are claiming to be the mate of our girl. Why don't you stay here and guard the house for her? Goodnight!" Ciel turned around, swiftly ran to the back of the house, and left Chris on the porch.
"You!"
[HAHAHA! Trickery is also one of her superpowers!] Yakobo started laughing again and this time, it was no longer for the old dog but for Chris.
