Chapter 15: Ch. 14 - Hidden Quest And Reward

After collecting my healed Pokemon, I was about to exit the Pokemon Center when the crowd of players who were at the gym came into the Pokemon Center.

"Where is he?" asked the player in front of the crowd.

Players started to look around and one of them said.

"There he is." he points his finger in a general direction as me.

The players made their way towards me.

'Shit, did they recognize me? I'll have to run or they will pester me with lots of questions.'

But my worries were for nothing as the players walked past me and stopped in front of the player who came from the streak of light and was sitting while waiting for his Pokemon to heal.

"Hey, you were the last person in the gym. Did you see where that player who defeated Brock went?" asked the player who was at the front of the crowd.

"Sorry, man, I was so focused on getting beaten by Camper Liam that I couldn't focus on anything else." said the other player.

"Shit, It seems like we lost him. He possibly ran away by mixing in the crowd or maybe he already left the Pokemon world and returned to the real world."

'Good, they don't seem to remember my face and have no way of identifying me.'

After listening to the players, I didn't linger for much longer and hurried my way out of the Pokemon Center.

After walking a safe distance away from the Pokemon Center, I opened the system notification to see what that hidden quest thing was.

[You have completed a Hidden Quest]

I clicked on the quest, and the details of the quest appeared.

[Quest - First Conqueror {Hidden}

Description - Become the first player in the world of Pokemon to win against a Gym Leader and earn an Official Pokemon League Badge.

Reward - 1x Running Shoes

Deadline - Before anyone else beats a Gym Leader.

Failure - None]

Right after clicking the quest notification, the shoes that I was wearing started glowing with white light, and after some time, they were replaced with new and more comfortable shoes, but they still had the same color as my previous shoes.

'It seems that my shoes have been upgraded to running shoes. These running shoes will be a huge help in going around at high speed until I get the bike.'

I tried to run a distance to check the effectiveness of the shoes, and sure enough, I could tell the difference.

My speed has doubled, while using the same amount of energy I can run twice as fast.

After checking out the shoes, I checked my PokeDEX next to view the updated trainer's card.

[DIPPER - Issued 20XX-02-02

PokeDEX - 6

Money - ₽1,548

Max Obedience - Lv. 26

Time Remaining : 00:014:12

<Gym Badges>

1 - <Boulder Badge>]

My <Max Obedience> has increased from Lv. 20 to Lv. 26, and the previously empty <Gym Badges> area now has a badge added to it.

Looking at the <Time Remaining>, I only had 14 Minutes left in the Pokemon World.

I could try to run to the Pokemon Center on 'Route 3', outside of the 'Mt. Moon' cave entrance, but the forced Pokemon battle on 'Route 3' will take some time.

"I guess I can only try to clear as many battles as possible while I have the time."

After deciding, I ran towards the east of 'Pewter City' as fast as possible. Along the way, I bought 7 Poke Balls from the Poke Mart.

Currently, the bag contains:

[8x Poke Ball

1x Great Ball

1x Antidote

2x Potion]

There is also TM - Rock Tomb in the bag, but it is stored separately since it has a <Untradeable> tag attached to its name.

When I reached the eastmost part of 'Pewter City', there was a sign placed that reads:

<NOTICE!>

<Thieves have been stealing Pokemon fossils from MT. MOON.>

<Please call the PEWTER POLICE if you have any information.>

The thieves mentioned in the sign are Team Rocket who were stealing fossils from 'Mt. Moon'.

Before I could continue forward, my time ran out, and I was back in the real world.

''Pewter City' is a lot bigger and took me so long even when I had the running shoes.'

'I guess I can only try to clear the forced Pokemon battles and cross Mt. Moon on the same day.'

After exiting the Pokemon world, I went to my part-time job and stayed there till 8.

Coming back from the job, I opened the phone to check for anything interesting and for any news related to me and my battle with Brock.

[Unknown Player DEFEAT The Gym Leader]

Clicking on the article, The article mentions that multiple players of the 'Kanto Region' have witnessed and confirmed that a player has successfully defeated the gym leader of 'Pewter City'.

The article mentions the whole battle in detail, including my Pokemon, Brock's Pokemon, their levels, and everything else.

The article also mentions the reward of defeating the gym leader, which is a CD-shaped object called TM that can teach <Rock Tomb> move to a Pokemon of choice and a small badge called Boulder Badge.

The article also stated that the identity of the player has not been confirmed yet but speculations are being made as many players are claiming to be the ones who defeat the gym leader.

After reading the article, I was about to put away my phone and go to sleep when a new article appeared.

[The Identity Of THE Player who DEFEATED The Gym Leader Is Revealed]

"Oh, they found out. How?"

"Is someone fake trying to impersonate me?"

I clicked on the new article to check but the content of the article shocked me.

[The name of the player who has defeated the 'Pewter City' gym leader is 'Dipper']

"What? How? How did they find out my name?"

I continued to read, and my question was answered.

"Only an idiot will be blind enough to not notice that. No wonder they found my name so quickly."

The article mentions that the players who went into the gym after I defeated the gym leader noticed my name engraved on the two stone statues placed at the state of the gym.

The stone statue had my name engraved under the <Winning Trainers> section. Since there was only one name written under the <Winning Trainers> section, players were able to easily conclude my name.

"Now, my name is known to the whole world."

"Meh, I don't really care whether they know my name or not."

I closed the article and was about to put my phone away when something again stopped me from doing so.

A call from Lily.

Picking up the call, Lily asked me whether I was the same Dipper as the one who defeated the first gym leader.

I don't see why not tell her, So I confirmed that I am the same Dipper who defeated the first gym leader.

After hearing my response, Lily became so excited and kept asking questions about my Pokemon and how I made them so strong.

After almost 1 hour of talking and answering multiple questions to satisfy her curiosity, I ended the call and was about to put my phone away when another notification of an article caught my eye.

[Another name on the Stone statues. Someone else DEFEATED The 'Pewter City' gym leader?]

The article mentions that the players who have recently visited the 'Pewter City' gym again have found another name engraved on the stone statue under the <Winning Trainers> section.

The name that was engraved on the stone statue along with 'Dipper' is 'Blue'.

"It seems that Blue has finally reached 'Pewter City' and has defeated Brock."

The article was short, and after reading it, I switched off my phone and went to sleep.

[The Next Day]

Since I switched off my phone last night, the alarm didn't ring, and I woke up late.

After waking up and switching on the phone, I entered the Pokemon world.

I was back where I left, at the eastmost part of 'Pewter City', right beside the sign.

After looking around, I started heading out of 'Pewter City'.

[You have entered 'Route 3']
