Chapter 1: Scenario One - Try Not To Die (I)

A/N: This fanfic is for some of my readers that were bugging me like some kind of parasite lmao.

Honestly, I quite missed this, and as I read more and more novels, that "spark" only seems to brighten up. It's a weird feeling, y'know?

Well, this time I won't really end the fanfic entirely like before... ahem.

I'll just take a break and upload when I feel like it, so don't really expect something like daily uploads...

That's it~, I'm glad to be back.

If you look at the world, people can be separated into three different groups.

Heroes, ordinary people, and villains.

However, not all heroes are well-known people, just as ordinary people aren't exactly "normal".

Therefore, someone shouldn't say that others are bad people just because they are villains.

Though, many people will force those kinds of stereotypes.

And if you asked me, what am I?

Without a doubt, I'd say that...

"I'm a Villain."

Do I care about that?

Not really.

After all, with the current world, I'd say that being a villain would definitely be the thing that benefits one the most.

A knife that hides behind a smile.

A traitor.

And more.

Well...

All of that started a few years ago.

When "that" started...

It was just a normal day...

"Yo! What are you doing in the afternoon?"

"Oh... Daniel. I'm definitely going to the bar."

"Ah? Again? Shouldn't you stop drinking for a few days? Last time, I was the one that brought you home."

"Shut it."

"Tsk."

This guy that just struck up a conversation is Daniel, one of my best buddies. I met him during my childhood, and we have been friends since.

"What classes do you have now?" Daniel asked as he picked up his phone.

"Uh... Fuck. I'm too lazy; I might as well skip them."

"Didn't you skip yesterday?"

"So?"

"...You really are a lost cause." He sighed deeply.

Well, I'm just too fucking tired of hearing professors hypnotize me with useless stuff that I'll probably never use in my entire life.

The world is quite boring...

Go to school, graduate, get a job, have a family...

Or simply drop out of school, but still go and do the same thing.

Like... can't the world turn into something more... fun?

"L-Lucius...?" Daniel suddenly called out to me.

"What?"

"Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" He pointed forward.

I looked in that direction, and my eyes widened as I saw a floating screen in front of me.

[Scenario One - Try not to die.]

"The fuck is this?" I scratched my head.

"You're seeing this too!?" Daniel turned to me.

"No shit."

Did I just jinx myself?

Fuck. Either way, I needed to figure out what was going on.

"Ah... another screen appeared." Daniel spoke, which made me turn back to the screen.

[Protocol 42069 activated...]

[The planet "Earth" has entered the state of apocalypse.]

[The player's character profile will be created...]

"Apocalypse? What do you mean by that?" Daniel blurted out after looking at the system.

"Follow me." I immediately said to Daniel.

He was quite confused but simply nodded. With that, both of us ran towards the roof of our school.

We could see the blue sky, however, as our eyes landed on the city...

"Fuck..." Daniel cursed.

It was a disaster.

Some buildings were burning while black smoke flew into the sky.

In the streets, loads of giant yet strange creatures roamed around.

"I'm gonna... puke...aheguh!" Daniel took a few steps away from me and vomited on the ground.

The worst thing about this was the huge number of dead bodies on the streets, some were missing limbs, while others were missing heads.

There was also just a part of the body on the ground, while the other seemed to be eaten by those creatures.

"You alright, bro?" I asked, patting his back.

"Blegughh!" He vomited once again, which made me sigh.

To be honest, the scene really disgusted me. However, I was quite messed up when I was younger and did things that I'm not proud of, so this scene is quite light for me.

"F-fuck... it's really an apocalypse." He cursed as he wiped his mouth with the sleeves of his hoodie.

"Take off that hoodie. It smells terrible." I couldn't help but say.

It really did. It was covered in vomit. He was somehow dumb enough to vomit into his own hoodie.

"Sure..." He took off his hoodie.

"What are we going to do now?" Daniel asked me.

Useless.

"Why the fuck would I know that?"

"Well... you're the one that likes getting into fights."

"And? Do you want me to go down and get in a fist-to-fist fight with a creature of that size?"

"No..."

"Sigh... Can't we get more information about this so-called scenario?" Daniel sighed deeply.

"Oh?" He suddenly exclaimed.

"What?"

"When I said those words... another panel popped in front of me."

"Really? Scenario information...?" I called out, trying to see if something appeared.

"Oh, something really appeared." I exclaimed as my eyes landed on the screen.

[Scenartio One - Try not to die.]

[Time Remaining: 23 hours, 56 minutes...]

[Objective: Kill at least one monster within the time limit.]

[Success Rewards: Random Item, 5 Random Stat Points, Newbie Gift Pack.]

[Bonus: If you kill more than ten monsters, you'll receive another batch of rewards and an exclusive skill.]

[Failure Penalty: Death]

"Oh, that's interesting..." I mumbled.

"Bro... we're fucked. How are we going to kill one of these things!?" Daniel turned to me and shook my shoulders.

That irritated me.

Thud!

"Fuck, that hurts!" He groaned in pain after receiving a punch in his stomach.

"Shut it. Well... think of this as a game. And those monsters are exp. You play games almost every day; shouldn't you be better than me at this?" I sighed.

"Right... you bookworm."

Crack...

"Do you want to get punched in the face this time?" I asked coldly as I cracked my knuckles.

"I'm kidding, dude! Chill out..." He took a few steps back in complete fear.

I had put quite the trauma on him.

"Alright..." He slapped his own cheeks, as if trying to focus.

"If this is a game, there's a status window. In the start, something related to a character profile also appeared..." He spoke.

"Character Profile!" He exclaimed loudly.

And sure enough, at least from what I saw in his eyes, something did appear in front of him.

"God damn! This is really like a game. Here I can see my attributes and more. I'm so damn excited." He was very excited.

He was also moving his finger quite a lot.

"Ah... I don't have any skills. What about you?" He turned to me.

"Sigh... character profile." I spoke.

[Opening character profile...]

[Name: Lucius Sirius (18)]

[Current Level: 1]

[Title: - ]

[Sponsor: - ]

[Attributes: Strength 13 | Dexterity 21 | Constitution 13 | Magic 1]

[Skills: - ]

[Unique Skill:

Secret Eye (Level 1)

Allows the user to see things that are hidden from players.

N/A]

[Stigma: - ]

Looking at my status, I was quite thoughtful. I didn't know if my attributes were good or bad compared to those of the average person.

However, that unique skill should be quite rare, considering that Daniel doesn't have one.

But that made me think...

"Daniel, what appears in the panel of scenario information? Tell me every single item, one by one." I spoke.

"Wh—!"

"Just do it." I interrupted him before he could utter a word.

With a sigh, he started uttering every single thing that appeared.

And when he finished, I couldn't help but smile widely.

"What's up with that smile? It's creepy..."

The reason for this was that Daniel couldn't see the [Bonus] item that appeared. Which meant that only I could see it.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but if it's a unique skill, it's something that only I have. So, the chances are pretty high.

"Ah... and what are your attributes?"

"Mine...? Strength 7, Dexterity 7, Constitution 9, and Magic 0. I don't know if that's good, though."

"What about yours?" He asked me.

"Well... pretty much your status, but almost doubled." I replied with a faint smirk.

"The fuck!? But well... It kinda makes sense." He scratched the back of his head, and I could see that he was annoyed by this fact.

"By the way, explain to me what a stigma is. I don't know about this fucking shit." I said annoyingly.

I guess not playing games or reading fantasy novels wasn't very helpful in this kind of situation.

"Stigma...? Well, from the novels and manhwas I have read, they are abilities that are passed down by your sponsor or constellation. You can either receive them from your sponsor or do something crazy enough to get one yourself."

"Interesting..."

"By constellation, you mean...?"

"Ah... constellations are basically something like "gods" that watch over us players, they'll grant us rewards for doing something that they want us to do, or simply give them because they like us, or anything like that."

"At least... it's like this in some manhwas and novels." He added with another sigh.

"I guess your nerdy knowledge came to be quite handy." I smiled.

"Now, let's go downstairs. We need to figure out a way to kill those fucking creatures." I added before walking towards the stairs.

"Hey! Wait for me, dude!" I could hear him calling out to me.

Well.

Now, I already knew what to do.

I needed to kill ten of those creatures to get the bonus.

I'll do anything...

To survive.
