Chapter 37: Rejecting the Safety Net - Uchiha Toki

Listening to the pleasant voice of the system, Toki's lips curved into a slight smile.

"Another successful PUA," he thought to himself.

"Even though it's just 60 loyalty, it's enough to boost my family's reputation. And most importantly, it has added another 1000 points to my family's prestige, enough to exchange for the manufacturing technique of an A-rank scientific ninja tool scroll."

In the past, he would only get 100 points from a Chunin and 500 from a Jonin. Elite Jonin truly lived up to their name, offering more rewards.

[Host: Uchiha Toki]

[Strength: Shadow]

[Position: Clan Leader]

[Number of Clan Members: 1057]

[Family Prestige: 1547 points]

[Strength Distribution: Kage level (2 people), Elite Jonin (1 person), Jonin (3 people), Special Jonin (60 people), Chunin (374 people), Genin (121 people)]

[Owned Buildings: Uchiha Ancestral Shrine, Training Ground No.1, Ninja Tool Research Center]

[Inheritance: Uchiha Exclusive Fire Style Ninjutsu, Partial Ninjutsu, Shuriken Technique, Genjutsu, Taijutsu, Sharingan... etc.]

[Training Ground No.1: After unlocking related subjects through prestige, practicing in the training ground can gain ten times the insight.]

[Ninja Tool Research Center: Can purchase manufacturing techniques through prestige. Manufacturing ninja tools in the building guarantees a hundred percent success rate.]

After a month of family nurturing, Toki successfully elevated himself from an Elite Jonin to Kage level. This was mainly due to the comprehensive improvement in the abilities of many clan members through the training ground. Consequently, the various skill experience bonuses he received during this month were particularly substantial, experiencing an explosive growth, so to speak. However, Toki also knew that this was partly because he had already acquired the Mangekyou Sharingan. As long as he compensated for the lacking chakra and various combat skills, he could easily reach Shadow level.

That's why he was able to advance two levels in just two months. However, he understood that to progress further, relying solely on the monthly clan leader salary wouldn't cut it. This is because the gap between each strength level in the Kage stage is even greater than the gap between Genin and Kage.

In Toki's eyes, there were only two true Kage in the entire ninja world: Uchiha Madara and Hashirama Senju. Above them were the Six Paths level, and below were the pinnacle of Kage level like Pain and the Third Raikage, A.

Among them, the Sixth Mizukage was also Kage level, the Fourth Tsuchikage was also Kage level, and the Third Raikage, A, was also Kage level. Among these people, fighting someone like the Sixth Mizukage would be troublesome, while the Third Raikage, A, could go toe-to-toe even with the Eight-Tails. Therefore, although relying on the rewards contributed by his subordinates every month could steadily increase his strength, becoming a Kage level like them would probably take at least a decade or even longer, and it couldn't be achieved simply by compensating with chakra and ninjutsu. It required a bloodline upgrade.

So naturally, Toki didn't want to rely solely on the bottom line to increase his strength. Besides steadily improving, the only way to enhance his strength was to use the family's prestige to obtain various items and buildings that could enhance the family's strength. If the clan members became stronger, the bottom line rewards would naturally increase. With higher bottom line rewards, his speed of strength improvement would naturally accelerate. This was a virtuous cycle.

This is also why Toki is so enthusiastic about "PUA", or rather, helping his clansmen with their mental health. (Note : refers to "Pick-Up Artist". It's a term used for someone who follows a system of supposedly persuasive techniques to attract and seduce romantic or sexual partners. The text uses PUA sarcastically, implying that Toki is using emotional manipulation on his clan members to gain their loyalty, but rephrases it to "helping his clansmen with their mental health" to show it in a more positive light.)

Before, in order to deal with this war, he had used all the one-time clan prestige he had plundered from his clansmen to upgrade the Ninja Tool Development Center and purchase high-level scientific ninjutsu scrolls.

Now that the preparations are in place, Toki believes that he, a Kage, plus a B+++-level Guardian Treasure, is enough to deal with this war. So, he decides to activate another clan building to improve the training speed of his clansmen.

System buildings needed real family public buildings as a support to bestow special powers. The training ground and the Ninja Tool Research Center were both activated only after they were built in the new clan territory.

Toki opened the backstage and found that there were two types of buildings available for activation.

One was the Ninjutsu Research Center, and the other was the Summoning Beast Breeding Center.

[Ninjutsu Research Center (Level 1): Can modify, upgrade, and optimize existing ninjutsu, resulting in unexpectedly powerful effects. Activation requires 1000 points of family prestige.]

[Summoning Beast Breeding Center (Level 1): Can explore and search the Summoning World, obtain new clan summoning contracts, and train and strengthen the contracted summoning beasts. Activation requires 1000 points of family prestige.]

Toki's pupils contracted.

"1000 points!"

He recalled that the training ground and the Ninja Tool Research Center could be activated with just 100 points, and even the Level 2 Ninja Tool Research Center could be upgraded with 1000 points. Suddenly, Toki realized that the ninja battle system was dominated by ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu, and summoning beasts. Ninja tools and training grounds could only be considered as additional powers at most.

"Ninjutsu and summoning beasts, huh?" Toki gazed at the system panel, contemplating. "Then, it's decided! It's you!"
