Chapter 10: War
{Did a little editing on a previous chapter because it was pretty anti-climatic}

"Not even a week has passed yet you already resolved our problem, good work" Akaal who was kneeling in front of the shogun who was reading the reports.
"I couldn't have done it without your permission shogun"
"Well, we spent a lot of our food for calming that village down, I do hope they will not bother us anymore"
"I assure you shogun that village will not bother any camp anymore, but they are not on our side yet" The shogun frowned at the news.
"They will not bother our camp as long as we do not bother them" The shogun was visibly upset at this news. The reason why she wanted the village was because of its abundance of fertile land, if she couldn't access it then all that effort was for nothing.
"but once the mist goddess army plans their attack, they will surely attack that village first, and once that happens we can protect them from reinforcement at the nearby camp" Akaal's plan made Makoto's eyes light up, and a faint smile emerged.
Makoto was smart enough to figure out the rest of Akaal's plan, so he did not need to say more.
"Good job General Akaal, I acknowledge you have excellent foresight, now as a reward name something you want and I'll prepare it for you"
"If I can choose, keep that shadow guard's eye away from me?"
'So he managed to sense them? you're sharper than I thought' Makoto thought to herself.
"Granted" Makoto snapped her finger and the shadow surrounding them suddenly moved. "Sorry but you must understand your position is precarious on whose side are you truly on"
"No need to apologize, Shogun, if I were in your position I would do the same"
"Is that all you want? Nothing else"
"Then.. If I may be greedy, can I be granted a house?"
"Oh right, you're living under the roof of General Kujou, I must have forgotten about that fact, I'll quickly find a sizable house to settle you into"
"No need to find a large house, I'm quite comfortable with something small"
"Now what kind of person am I to grant their generals a commoner's house, thankfully the former general Miyahara Yukio has an empty house ready to be occupied"
"But-"
"Are you challenging my decision?" Leaving no room for navigation I quietly waited for the shogun to dismiss me as she quickly wrote a letter before stamping it before she gave it to the shadow guard.
"You are dismissed, if you have anything that requires me, just knock on the front door, you are welcome to visit me anytime" This statement made my eyebrow raise a little due to her suspicious hospitality but I kept all of the thought onto me.
As soon as the door closed, Ei's voice asked.
"Sister, why do you trust that boy so much now?"
"Well I'm certain he is on our side, he's not hiding his doubt about me and even asked for some of my decisions, compare that to a spy who would gladly take every word I say with a nod to curry their favor with me"
"I see, but I will see for myself if he is trustworthy"
"Ei, a large battle will probably occur, I-"
"You need me to participate?" Ei cut Makoto's sentence.
"You know me too well sister" Makoto explained the situation while Ei silently listened.
Spies she sent to Orobashi's main base noticed a large movement from their army and after an investigation, they are planning to take the shogun's main once and for all with a surprise attack.
Directly marching over to their base with no intention to hide it.

I was following the paper I received about the location of my new house. I arrived at a house relatively close to the shogun's palace.
Though 'house' is putting it lightly, it was almost 3 times the size of a normal house, walls covered the parameters of the house, with a training ground, zen garden, and even a place to meditate.
That is only the outside, the inside is many rooms that were recently cleaned. It was probably by shogun's order.
"At least my general status is recognized" As soon I wondered how to use my free time I heard a knock on the gate.
Opening the gate to see a messenger of the shogun arrive, I took the letter as he left without a word.
Quickly skimming the contents of the letter I sighed in weariness after.
'General Akaal is hereby ordered to participate in a large invasion against the army of Orobashi on the west beach' was the shortened message within the letter.
"No rest for the wicked" I quickly burned the letter before taking a nap in my new home, this battle will occur in a few days and may last days and nights, every bit of energy will help.

After doing my usual morning routine I quickly prepared myself for the departure, though all the belongings I have is the sword that was given by my father, the thing that kept me alive till this day.
"Father.. Mother, I hope you're doing alright with my disappearance, and once this is done I'll find a way back I swear" I reminisce about the time I had in Mondstand, its people, free wind, and the ever-expanding meadow.
After an hour of meditation, I exited the gate and went to the military camp where most of the soldiers were already packing their stuff and preparing supplies.
Compared to the original 2,000 men the shogun gave me, other generals were given an army of 3,000 to 4,000 men, which made me realize my army had the least amount of men there in a single unit.
But another figure surprised me, The shogun herself appeared, at the entrance.
"Attention! The almighty shogun is present!" This announcement made all the men stop what they were doing and come into formation including me who stood in line with the other generals.
The Shogun slowly walked in front of us and scanned all of us.
"My people, the battle ahead of us will be brutal" The shogun's honesty depressed the mood.
They all knew the Archon War had taken a toll on their peaceful island. War was brutal and unforgiving, giving no chance to rest as this war went on.
"But I promise as your goddess that once we live through this war I will grant the greatest funeral to every warrior and maintain peace, until then I will accompany you in this battle"
"HAAI!" All the soldiers cried back.
