Chapter 5: I should have studied the works of Machiavelli

The examples of using the weak to overcome the strong were truly too clear, especially in this world that had just emerged from the brutal Warring States Period. Simultaneously, due to the existence of ninjutsu, the tactics in this world were essentially limited to decapitation, head-on clashes, ambushes, and at best, the stratagem of "luring the tiger away from the mountain."

This was also because the level restrictions in this world were too stringent, making it extremely difficult to use the weak to overcome the strong. After all, in the face of absolute power, any stratagem would be rendered useless.

However, now the Land of Whirlpools could only rely on stratagems to achieve victory. To employ stratagems, it would require a clash between armies and commanders. Additionally, it might be possible to obstruct the invasion of the Hidden Mist Village.

Of course, if I also knew the military strategies of Machiavelli and others military strategist, I could share them, perhaps leading to some special gains?

But...

As a shut-in, how could I have studied those things? The only one I was familiar with was the "Honey Trap" strategy, and lastly the "Trojan Horse" tactic. The rest, I had no clue!

The Land of Whirlpools being a small island nation, due to its small population, they had not even occupied the entire island of the Land of Whirlpools. So...

"Use this as the boundary and lure all the Hidden Mist Village ninjas into this area." Pointing to a region on the map, an area with good vegetation and plenty of forests, which could serve as a barrier to obstruct the advance of the Hidden Mist Village. At the same time, they could hide their forces, utilize camouflage techniques, and combine the strength of the entire nation with the terrain advantage to hinder the enemy. This way, they wouldn't need to waste too many personnel to guard the rear areas. Additionally, residential areas, commercial districts, and other locations would be evacuated and demolished, while the command center and medical facilities would be relocated to secret locations, ensuring that those without specific responsibilities wouldn't wander around.

Witnessing this situation, the Hidden Mist Village would surely realize something was amiss and dispatch personnel to investigate.

Moreover, he didn't believe that the Hidden Mist Village had more sensory-type ninjas than the Whirlpool Clan. As long as they confined the enemy to a specific area, they could play a game of cat and mouse.

Uzumaki Ryuto pointed to the map of the Land of Whirlpools and said, "Remember, when the enemy advances, we retreat; when the enemy camps, we harass them; when the enemy is exhausted, we strike; when the enemy retreats, we pursue. Utilize your familiarity with the terrain to ambush the Hidden Mist Village." His tone shifted, and he looked sternly at the ninjas with grim expressions. "This is our only path to victory. I hope everyone remembers and executes it diligently. Any foolish actions will result in expulsion from the clan."

Uzumaki Ryuto's biggest concern was these idiots getting riled up and rashly charging into battle, claiming it was for the honor of the Whirlpool Clan, essentially committing suicide. With their already fewer numbers compared to the enemy, a direct confrontation without utilizing terrain and strategy would force him and Kushina to flee.

Upon hearing Uzumaki Ryuto's words, everyone's expression hardened, and they solemnly replied, "Yes."

Seeing their agreement, he nodded in satisfaction and continued, "The prerequisite for executing this stratagem is a battle between armies and a confrontation between commanders. If you can't win, retreat; if you can win..." Uzumaki Ryuto let out a cold laugh and said indifferently, "Kill them!"

Even the cannon fodder must be eliminated entirely. As for the powerful ones, those who could be sealed would be sealed, and those who couldn't be sealed would be overwhelmed by sheer numbers later on.

Hehehe~

Imagine when the Hidden Mist Village realizes they have lost so many cannon fodder without gaining any advantage. There would surely be dissatisfaction within their ranks, and even the Mizukage might not be able to withstand the pressure. In the end, they would have to reconcile with the Tsuchikage, after all, even cannon fodder are ninjas!

"Remember, if you can't win, run away." Uzumaki Ryuto said sternly, emphasizing the need to eliminate the low-tier fighting force first, leaving the high-tier forces to be dealt with later.

Next, they would need to disperse the enemy's forces. If the Hidden Mist Village sent a Kage-level shinobi leading a group of subordinates in a direct assault, this plan would fail. Therefore, they needed to deliver a significant gift from the outset.

Uzumaki Ryuto let out a cold laugh and said, "Big Brother Shuta, please bring out the supplies I've prepared."

Although still young, with no one listening to him, as the primary heir of the Daimyo's family, he enjoyed a certain degree of freedom and convenience.

He had never forgotten to prepare for this war.

Uzumaki Shuta and other attendants brought out ten large wooden crates.

"Open them!"

"Whoosh—"

Upon seeing the contents of the wooden crates, all the ninjas gasped in astonishment, and even the Daimyo and clan leaders looked at the crates in disbelief. Inside were...

So many explosive tags! No, wait, where did the money come from?

This kid didn't embezzle from the national treasury, did he?

Seeing everyone's shocked expressions, Uzumaki Ryuto nodded in satisfaction. These were the explosive tags he had worked tirelessly to acquire over the years, supplemented by funds he had secretly drawn from the national treasury. Ahem, no, not drawn, but rather, advanced... No, that's not right either; he had used the funds in advance.

Moreover, if the nation were to perish, these supplies would end up in the hands of others anyway. It was better for him to deliver a substantial gift. While not as numerous as the six trillion tags owned by the wealthy Shion, it was still a considerable amount.

"After they land, plant one billion explosive tags in this area as a welcoming gift." Uzumaki Ryuto declared. For them to dare invade the land of a time-traveler, they must have a death wish!

Only by provoking the Hidden Mist Village could they force them to split up, giving the Land of Whirlpools a chance at victory. To avoid detection, the explosive tags had to be scattered and arranged in a surrounding formation, leaving the enemy with no choice but to confront them directly.

Furthermore, he believed the Hidden Mist Village would not advance slowly against the Land of Whirlpools. A swift and decisive victory would yield greater benefits, while a prolonged conflict could lead to unforeseen circumstances. Therefore, luring, provoking, and harassing them were the only strategies Uzumaki Ryuto could devise for the moment.

Also...

Uzumaki Ryuto looked up at the clan leader...

"Uncle Clan Leader, did you bring the letter I asked you to deliver to Grandma Mito?"
