Chapter 1: Chapter One

Again I take a last look in the mirror, looking for a defect in the clothing of the person in front of me. At first glance I looked normal, although I must admit that the dress I was wearing was beautiful, like many that I had made in my spare time and that currently decorated my closet. But to the eyes of the person behind me, it was stunning. I was just a few minutes away from going out with my best friend to a party a bit far from where we lived, although to myself, I was cursing for the bad decisions I have made for tonight. It was about two weeks before the last exams and the presentation of university projects, but as always, I have been carried away by the crazy Véronique Delacroix, who has kidnapped me to go out with her tonight. Something that did not excite me at all, but I accepted because of her insistence and because she did not want to leave alone in such a secluded place.

Véronique and I have been friends since we were twelve (12) years old, and we currently live together in a student residence. On multiple occasions I have scolded myself for agreeing to go to a party with her on a Saturday night and then spend Sunday with a big headache, but it seems that I have not learned my lesson and I cannot find a way to deny her. something to that beautiful brunette with brown eyes. Always so demanding and active for many things to which I end up letting myself be carried away by her. All those parties have always resulted in the same result: my best friend drunk in her room with any boy, and me, trying to make sure nothing happened to her during the evening, and sometimes with a headache from having drunk more than I should. For only having 5 years living together, that woman has not learned to control herself, and I have not learned to take better care of her. But I like her madness, it's one of the things I've always admired about her.

I do not deny that I also like to go out to have fun on a Saturday night, but if it is with Véro something always ends up going wrong ... At least for me.

Once ready and with all the necessary things inside my small handbag, I went to the entrance of the house, where my friend was waiting for me with a sparkling emotion in her eyes. A look that represented a billion problems.

-. Are you ready to have the best night of your life? - She tells me as we approach the car that is parked on the sidewalk and gets behind the wheel.

My mood to answer him was almost nil, but anyway I managed to convey my discomfort at this crazy idea.

-. Not really. I'd rather be home. Also, I think it's a bad idea to go to a party without being invited. -I didn't want to go out that night, but she was excited, so I took the first few minutes of walking in total silence to have a better mood.

-. Do not be afraid, you are going with me and that means that we will enter the party of the century - she says excitedly as she heads for the highway.

Certainly that woman was crazy, although I don't have much morals to say it, but the good side of her is that this madness makes up for it with beauty. Because she was certainly a really beautiful woman and she still can't figure out how she manages to look so good in just jeans and a low-cut shirt. Life is apparently unfair to other 25-year-old girls.

The happy party we were going to was one of the most exclusive of the year at the bar "Lazotea", a place that seemed to have nothing to do with the name of the place, and my friend had the intention of sneaking into it with the help of one of his new conquests. A tall, handsome, fair-skinned young man she met a few months ago. His name is Laurent, if I remember correctly and he was in charge of making my dear Véronique take a little more interest in finishing her usual duties. Something that I still have to thank you for.

-. I don't plan on being there any longer than I should, and as soon as I see that you're taking it as a bottomless pit, we're off! - I declared as any mother would do ... or that was what she tried.

Véronique didn't pay much attention to my claim and kept driving until she reached the premises. Going directly to the center of Paris was something that would take us about forty minutes, although that did not convince her to leave the house earlier. The rest of the journey was relaxed, and Véro played music so I wouldn't complain so much. She loved that woman, although sometimes she wanted to kill her for not listening to me.

Upon arrival, the place was already flooded with both people and cars. The neon lights, the bunch of women without a bit of modesty and the smell of alcohol was already flooding the place, something I noticed as soon as we got out of the car and approached the entrance. I was already beginning to regret it… again. But none of my regrets could go against Hurricane Delacroix, the purpose of which was to destroy my patience and mental well-being.

The car was not parked very far, which was surprising because there were many cars near the establishment. We walked together to the entrance, where a very attractive boy dressed in dark colors approached us to hug my friend with great effusiveness. An awkward moment. At least for me. That boy was Laurent.

-. Hello beautiful, I thought you would never come

–-. Sorry for the delay, the place is a bit far and I had to go get my girl - she said pointing at me for the first time. Her companion raised an eyebrow to then observe me carefully from top to bottom, although not with the same desire with which he looked at her just a few seconds ago. And with just that gesture I am beginning to like it. She will be faithful to him.

-. Sorry for not introducing myself, my name is Laurent Lejuen

-. I'm Violette, Véronique has told me about you - she answered simply and my friend hit me with her elbow in protest.

-. I imagine that she has already done it, between women everything is always shared. - answered

-. Something like that –my friend replies and she hugs him again to divert the subject. It's her way of making me feel uncomfortable that tells me I've bothered her enough, at least for the moment.

-. Well girls, the night is young and a good party awaits us - said our companion before going to the entrance, where two huge gorillas were in charge of security.

It seems that the essential requirement to be a security guard for a club is to be physically huge.

Laurent approaches them and I'm not quite sure what he told them, or if he knows them from somewhere, because they hardly saw him, they said some words that I didn't get to hear and then they ushered us through the crowd. Some girls gave us looks of hatred for entering before them, although it did not seem to matter in the least to my best friend, so I just turned and followed her and hers accompanying her through the crowd.

The place was attractive and not at all like the phosphorescent lights at the entrance. Inside, everything was dark with simple lines of lights decorating some walls and a very dim light where the bar is, the rest of the place was dark with small neon lights that people carried like bracelets on their wrists, around their neck , and much of the makeup of many also stood out in the dark. I spent so much time thinking about the lights in the place that I didn't realize it the moment Véronique and Laurent took me with them to the bar.

-. Girl, is something wrong with you? - She asks me a little worried when she sees my complexion even paler.

-. It's nothing, I'm just surprised by the amount of fluorescent lights - she commented as if nothing.

Laurent asks us for drinks and apologizes for a moment to Véronique before disappearing into the crowd of people.

-. Isn't it amazing? I told you that we would pass without problems - she bragged as she took a sip of the drink that they just brought us.

He was not much of a drinker. He had already done it before, but honestly I don't like the taste very much, unless my friend prepares one or another martini. After a moment Laurent comes back and he takes my brunette to the dance floor. The atmosphere was very lively and agitated, it was difficult for me to distinguish the silhouette of my friend, although, honestly, I did not feel as scared and worried about her as on previous occasions. This time I knew she was with someone who would take care of her or so the mother instinct that Véronique says I usually have with her told me.

As the hours go by I get more and more bored, having as my only companion the small glass with a drink that warms my throat. I was not in the mood to dance, and receiving multiple invitations to do so was frustrating. This was the real reason I don't like attending parties: I always end up at the bar all night until my girl wants to come home. If it was just a party with acquaintances, it would be more entertaining.

After a bit more lost in the crowd, my favorite brunette appears in front of me.

-. Isn't it amazing? This place is fantastic: the music is good, the atmosphere is festive and I really want to never leave this place - she comments funny to me and then go and order a drink from the bartender. She turns to see me and that look of happiness with which she had arrived disappeared - What is it, darling? You feel bad?

-. It's nothing, just that I share your opinion, but I'm glad that she is so amused - she commented amused when she saw the beads of sweat on her forehead. The bartender handed her a glass of her drink and she finished him off as quickly as it came.

-. Stop being so boring and come dance with me - she said taking my hand to drag me to the dance floor.

The movements of the people around me moved me without me having the need to move. Dancing was never my forte, although I could get to dance one thing or another without looking like a complete shame to dance, but in this place I felt extremely ridiculous, although I could bet that no one is watching me dance. Once my friend was happy to see me on the dance floor, I decided to get out of that awful place and go back to a bench at the bar. My best friend noticed my estrangement and came to my aid. She took me by the hand to move me away from the bar and lead me to another place. She was wondering where we were going until I realized that we were heading towards some stairs that led upwards. Towards the roof.

-. No Véro, I don't want to go up there, there may be many more people than here - she yelled at him over the shrill sound of the music.

-. Come on girl, I didn't bring you to a party just so you could sit there - I point to the bar.

-. It's what I usually do, the bar chair starts to be my best friend - I say bluntly, although she amused me a lot to see her expression of "offended woman" - And Laurent? - I ask to divert her from the topic. We both reached the terrace of the place, also crowded with people, but at least she left me near the bar again.

I liked this much more because the view she had was much more beautiful of the city and in the distance you could see the illuminated Eiffel Tower. The view was wonderful, for that alone I could say that the long journey was totally worth it.

-. She went to look for a friend, she told me that it will come from her soon - she took her handbag and pointed out that she would go straight to the dresser.

I watched her move her lips for a few more seconds, and I wish I could hear what she was saying, but the loud volume of the music didn't let me hear anything, so I didn't hear anything before she walked away on her way to the bathroom. I'm not sure how long she's been sitting gazing out over the city, but it wasn't until someone took the stool next to me and sat on it that I realized she was still rapt.

-. Why are you so lonely precious? - A tall boy asks me, little by little I will detail it until his figure becomes familiar to me. His reddish hair would give him away wherever he goes.

-. Hey Nath! -From the smile that carried on his face it was more than clear that he had recognized me before sitting down to flirt with me.

-. How are you feeling Violette? –He said in that flirtatious tone that he always uses when addressing me.

-. Well, a little tired of the music and the stunning colors - he commented frankly. It was hard not to be honest with him.

-. Why did you come? I know you do not like these places at all, especially if it is full of strangers with whom you do not dare to talk.

-. And I will still not find a taste for these scandalous places. I just came to accompany Delacroix. You know, like always - the truth is that he could finally entertain me, even a little with his presence. I turned around a bit and drank some of the hateful bitter drink they served me, one that has a strange name that I wouldn't even remember in a long time. I did not want to continue in that place and Nath may be my escape route– Nath, could you take me home? -That was a crazy idea and my words could even be misinterpreted, but I was willing to sell my soul to the devil in order to return to my cozy home, where I could lie down to watch Netflix the rest of the night.

Nath was surprised by my request and when he was about to answer me a great shout of joy from the great mass of people behind us exploded. Nathaniel and I did not peek over the roof and the entrance to the establishment was clearly visible. For some strange reason people began to crowd at the entrance of the premises, as if they were harassing someone. All those people began to push each other, in order to reach a goal still unknown to my eyes. The crowd of people who had previously been downstairs were now on the rooftop, and they had even lost sight of Nath. They may have taken it somewhere and it is that among all these people it is difficult to locate someone.

I was really tired already. In addition, I lost the opportunity to continue a conversation with someone in this place, although it was not that I had listened much. I took my things and went in search of my friend with red hair to ask for help and get me out of this hellish place, but no matter how hard I looked, it was impossible for me to find him. He had disappeared without leaving a trace and that bothered me a lot, not to mention that people prevented my step every so often.

I had already given up on my escape when someone pulled hard on my wrist, it was a tall man with a strong grip. That unknown person hadn't even realized that I might not be the person he was looking for. But no matter how much he shouted some protest, the unknown raptor seemed not to hear me at all. He hurried me out of the bar, nimbly avoiding anyone who might delay us. He led us to a door that, although it is not the same place he entered, we were already outside. That must have been the back door of the establishment.

I could swear that this young man was trying to escape from someone because of the hasty and agile way with which he managed to get out, perhaps from the security. He flung the door open, making the door bounce off the wall. By the time it closed, it had hit my head.

I couldn't help a loud groan at it.

Thanks to that complaint of pain, my stranger turned around to look at me in bewilderment, finally realizing that I was not the person he was trying to get out of the club.

-. I'm sorry, are you okay? He –he asked me after having analyzed the situation. I couldn't help but look at him with a pout.

-. For now. That blow has been strong - I say while rubbing myself in the sore area - You should realize where you are going, what you are doing and who you are dragging away.

-. I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention. I thought you were someone else - he came to apologize about five more times, and in a way I can believe that he really feels sorry.

I wanted to answer him again, to let him know that I don't feel resentful at his outburst, but a severe pain in my head made me complain again. I walked back a bit but my bad luck made an appearance again and I was about to fall flat on the ground. And so it would have been had it not been for my mysterious captor. This one was even faster than me and I grabbed my waist so I didn't fall. For the first time, I raised my eyes to look closely at that person, but gray eyes managed to make the pain I felt cease to be important for a few seconds. The truth is that they were very cute. Then I looked a little more at the person in front of me, he had very attractive features, and his whitish complexion only made him seem more unreal, even for a second I thought he might be having some crazy dream, because men like him used to not be true and as far as I understood vampires only exist in books like Twilight.

But something in that look made me feel safe, so I might feel safe in the meantime.

We stood still in that position, as if neither of us wanted to move. As I detailed it, he was doing the same with me. Being discovered in that way saddened me, and although it was inevitable not to see it, due to the position in which we found ourselves, I felt as if I had been caught in the middle of some crime.

-. Are you sure ...? He –he began to say he and then be silenced by the scream of many girls inside the place where we were a few minutes ago.

Without even saying anything again, he stood me up again and pulled me back, only this time he took me through the alley we had left, we walked a couple of seconds more to where a luxurious black car was parked, this one something was hidden on the sidewalk near the alley. I do not know if it was a thief, but that security that I had felt a couple of minutes or seconds ago had not completely disappeared, no matter how much doubts began to attack me.

The stranger took keys from his pants and pressed a button that made the fantastic car turn on the lights. It was more than clear that the car was his. Once it was open he pulled me up to the passenger door and opened it for me, indicating with a small wave of his hand to enter.

-. What are you going ...? -I asked immediately, but he didn't seem to pay attention to me because he looked back towards the alley from which we left and as soon as he saw me again he took me by the arm and pushed me a little to get into his car.

I was stunned. Not every day you run into a stranger and this, apart from being hideously attractive, makes you get into his car. The stranger closed the passenger door and walked around the car until he was at the driver's door. As soon as he got into the car, he leaned back and covered his face with one hand as he exhaled.

-. Hears….! I started to protest but he just grunted for a moment and then answered.

-. You just… stay quiet and let me think a bit, okay?

I did not want to comment on anything else. She was out of place, mostly because of the lack of fear she had at that moment. I was in the car of a complete stranger and that at any moment he could take me to some unknown place, and most likely it is not at all friendly with me in that place. But I am not afraid. Véronique has always said that I'm weird for trusting people quickly, but I'm not afraid, I'm just curious.

Curious to know what it is that has him so tormented and for the reason that I take my hand to quickly leave the club. After a few minutes of extreme silence, the stranger started the car and left that alley as quickly as possible towards some direction unknown to me.

After they had driven a couple more streets, he stopped, turned off the engine, and stood thoughtfully, staring at the roof of the car.

-. Are you sure you're okay? He asked suddenly. "Does something hurt?" Want something? -I looked at him confused at his concern for me. He had forgotten that he had hit me on the head. I brought my hand to the affected area, it hurt a little but not enough to complain about it.

-. I'm fine, -I assured him.

-. Good, -he said simply as he lost himself again in his thoughts.

While he was in his own world, I had the luxury of detailing it a bit more. Maybe I am dazzled by his appearance at first glance, since he certainly has a very attractive face, he was wearing black jeans, a gray shirt with a thin red tie, and a black blazer. The truth is that his clothes made him look very attractive. It almost seemed like a sin to be, and even if he was not the statue of a Greek god, he seemed very attractive to me.

After a couple of minutes, I finished my inspection, and he, for his part, settled in the seat and turned to see me directly in the eyes of him, thus achieving that our gazes were connected.

-. I… –I started to say without knowing if that is what to say.

-. Sorry for taking you out of the bar, I hadn't realized that you were someone else ... and I'm sorry about the blow to your head, -she said, pointing to my head with a slight smile on her lips. A smile that did not quite reach his gaze.

-. Don't worry, you looked rushed. It was normal that you could not find anyone in that horrible place -I commented grateful to be able to say something coherent. Due to my words he made a gesture of surprise.

-. If you didn't like the place, why did you go to Lila's party?

-. Whose party? I asked, stunned because I really didn't know whose party it was.

-. Let's see ... you go to a bar on a Saturday night, to an exclusive party and you don't even know the name of the birthday girl? He raises an eyebrow as he says so.

I felt ridiculous for not having known it was someone's birthday party, all thanks to my crazy friend right now I was in pain.

-. No, "I admitted reluctantly and against all odds, he began to laugh. The truth is that it was almost inevitable not to laugh with him, mostly because of the ridiculousness of the situation.

-. You are amazing. He would never have thought that someone would go to a place without knowing what the reason for the celebration was.

-. Anyway, it hadn't been my idea to go. I only accompanied a friend who… abandoned me and did not find again.

Remembering my crazy partner, I realized that I would have to call her. I started looking for my bag until I realized that it was no longer carrying it. Great. Could anything else go wrong for me tonight?

-. Something happens? –He asks me. It was hard not to see the despair in my eyes, I had lost my phone, some money for, my favorite lipstick and my ID ... or well, the copy of this.

-. I lost my bag, I should have left it at the bar, -I tell him. I began to remember to what extent I had seen it, and the truth was that before this boy trotted me out of the bar, I had my bag in my hands.

It may have fallen without me realizing it. Curse!

-. Most likely, he dropped me at the bar while you were stumbling me out, -I say, unable to hide my annoyance over it.

That was one of my favorite bags and it was one of the few that matched whatever I was wearing. I began to analyze the chances of success that I would have if I went to look for him again, but now I was many blocks away from the place and if I tried to enter the premises again there was little chance that I would be allowed.

Now thanks to this stranger I had: a small concussion on my head, I had no way to communicate with Véronique, I was left without a phone, and I don't even know where I am. In conclusion, tonight is going from bad to worse.

She was furious, my companion seemed like she was going to say something for a moment, but as I looked up my anger seemed to surprise her.

-. Yes… if you want I can take you to your house –she offered. That proposal brought me out of my bitterness for a moment.

Without even answering him, he started the car and started again.

-. Was what you lost very important?

-. The phone could be said to be the most important ...

-. Anything else? He asked nonchalantly.

-. How do you know where you will go? If I haven't told you where I live.

Suddenly he stopped the car, the streets were clear so that was not a problem, although I must say that I was surprised by his action.

-. You're right… Where…?

-. I live in Résidence universitaire Marcel Pagnol-CROUS de Créteil

After saying this, my unknown companion opened his eyes with surprise, although there was still a certain hint of seriousness in his gaze, he also looked puzzled. For some people, it is incredible that someone takes 40 minutes on the road just to get to a party that you weren't invited to. Even so, he took his time before starting the car again.

The first minutes were a wicked ordeal. My companion was the most silent, and to tell the truth I felt too sorry to start a conversation. I did not feel that he had the courage to say something, but above all any prognosis he spoke before me.

-. Here, you will need to call your friend –he said as he took a gray telephone out of his blazer. I stared at him for a few seconds before taking it, this was the strangest thing.

When I turned on the phone, the gaze of a woman with yellow hair and lively gray eyes greeted me. She was very beautiful, like seeing a woman out of a fairy tale. The background was in a field of flowers and she had turned around just in time for that photo to be taken, but it was relaxing to watch, as if all your problems were gone for a moment. It was soothing and haunting. A beauty captured at the best of times. A woman this beautiful had to be someone important to him.

The phone appeared to have no password, so it was very easy to access it without having to ask you to unlock it. I dialed Verónique's number and waited for her to answer, but no matter how many times I tried she wasn't answering any of my calls. She had more than five minutes trying until I was fed up and I went to the mailbox to leave one of her on her phone. Only then would I read it when I check the phone, most likely she will check it to call me as soon as she does not find me.

With that in mind, I just wrote to her that I was fine and that we would see each other later at home, so she would also be calm. Luckily she was with Laurent, and something told me that I could trust him, so I didn't feel uneasy about leaving her alone.

Once you send the message, give him the phone. But she pushed her device aside and stared at me.

During the next few minutes I waited for an answer from my friend, but the lucky man was silent, no notification had arrived and the silence made me desperate, it made the journey much more uncomfortable ... well, the situation was uncomfortable. We still had several minutes together in the car, so I would have to start talking if I did not want this discomfort to continue, it was most exasperating.

-. What is your name? I asked without further ado after gathering a lot of courage to overcome the pain. My companion took his eyes off the road for a moment and looked at me.

-. You do not know who I am? That question puzzled me for a moment.

-. You are somewhat vain if you think that everyone should know who you are, -I said with a touch of hostility. I'm surprised how vain he is, but my answer instead of annoying him amused him because her gaze lit up a bit and a few laughs came with it.

-. Agree. My name is Alphonse, and again I'm sorry I stumbled you out of the place, it was not my intention.

-. Well, if we put that aside, you look nicer than you did a few minutes ago.

-. Because you said so?

-. You looked very annoyed ... At least now you seem clear - again he laughed at what I said, that annoyed me a little - I just found out that now I am a court jester.

My companion just unscrewed a little more of laughter for about a minute, I still did not see how funny it was, but the little annoyance went away as fast as it arrived to join him in laughing. You could even say that it was impossible not to laugh with him if he looked more animated than minutes ago.

-. You are the first girl who has entertained me so much in such a short time, and no, you are not a buffoon, just that it amuses me that you have noticed my discomfort.

-. It was very obvious.

-. I am sorry.

-. You don't have to apologize anymore, it's over.

-. Now will you tell me your name? She asked as she looked at me for a few seconds with her lopsided smile. Without a doubt he must be some kind of conqueror, because with a smile like that he would make any woman fall at his feet.

-. You are always like that? –I asked avoiding answering what he had told me.

-. As well as?

-. I wonder if you are that seductive with women you tend to "kidnap" from parties.

-. Well no, the truth is that I don't usually kidnap anyone, this was a mere accident, and as for the seducer, I don't know what you mean, I haven't tried to seduce you yet.

-. So you could say that you have a natural charm with women, right?

-. Well…. He had never thought about whether or not I have natural charm. I looked at him for a few seconds with a raised eyebrow, I didn't know for sure if he was lying to me. "So will you answer me?" -Topic change.

-. My name is Violette Bellerose.

-. Well, Violette, it's nice to meet you, -she said as she stopped for a stoplight and turned to look me straight in the eye. For a few seconds I was speechless, it was as if we were in a different space.

I am aware that I should feel different. I mean, I had never seen that man in my life, he stumbled out of a party and put me in his car. If she ever told Véronique that she would be scared that I didn't run away at the first opportunity, or she would say that my survival instincts are atrophied because I didn't feel fear, rather I felt relaxed next to him. I don't know if it was because she was reckless or if it was because he was really very nice, but the truth was that it felt good to be next to him. Also, he was going to take me home after I lost my belongings, this was like a breath of fresh air.

-. Something happens? –She asked breaking the spell in which she was submerged.

-. No, it's nothing - I didn't want him to know about my thoughts at that moment, it was something that I was going to reserve for myself at any cost. After the traffic light turned green again, her gaze changed again. It was as if her eyes were an open book waiting to be read, because it was very easy to glimpse her emotions - Did something worry you? Could it be that you're like this because of that girl you left at the bar?

-. No, it's nothing. She has to go to her house, although I must admit that she will be a bit upset with me.

The truth is that she hadn't thought about the possibility of him having a girlfriend. He may even have pulled me out of the party instead of her, that must be very bad for him. He doesn't want to find me in the middle of a couple's argument. Although it was to be expected that he had some relationship, after all it was seen that he was someone very nice and affectionate, and the owner of his heart may be in a rage for not finding him.

-. It's here? –I hear him say. The truth is that I was so deep in my thoughts that the truth is that I had not realized that we had already arrived at my residential complex. Time does pass quickly when distracted, although that was good because it meant it was time to get away from this already committed man.

-. Yes it's here. If you want, you can leave me at the entrance and I will walk to my building.

-. No, I couldn't make you walk. Come on, tell me what your building is.

I indicated that he would drop me off in one of the last buildings, although with each passing second I felt more and more restless. Once we got to the building that I indicated, he parked the car in front of him, decided I opened the door to get out, but he had taken my hand before he put another foot out of the car.

-. Wait… I… Here, -he said without further ado, handing me his cell phone. I looked at him strangely, although he didn't seem to understand why.

-. Why are you giving it to me?

-. You can keep it, -he said kindly, although his tone did not prevent my expression of surprise from showing. He was giving me his phone.

-. What? I asked as if I had some kind of delay, but the truth was that I still didn't believe what he was saying.

-. Because of me you lost yours, I can't give you back the bag you lost, but at least I can give you something as compensation for the bad time you had.

I really couldn't believe it.

-. I can not. Namely…

-. It doesn't matter if you keep it, I have a backup of it in my house. Anyway, he already had to change phones….

That explanation did not convince me at all, it still seemed unreal. Not everyone goes down the street giving away a phone, much less a man you branded a kidnapper more than half an hour ago.

-. I can't accept it, I… -I started to say, but he cut me off.

-. Keep it, please. I have no problem with you keeping it.

This whole situation was extremely rare, and for some reason I couldn't deny him anything. I took the device and got out of the car. I honestly did not know how to describe that situation, many would believe that I was crazy for accepting the phone from a stranger, and others would believe that I had lost my mind by trusting so openly in someone I knew under rare circumstances.

Alphonse raised the glass of the passenger door and started the car again to leave, although before he made a kind of farewell with the headlights, and like a fool raised a hand in farewell. It had been a very strange night, but tomorrow he would think about that, for now he just wanted to sleep.
