No matter what Aspect Ability the blind girl had received in exchange for her sight, it was effectively a death sentence. A blind person had no chances of surviving in the Dream Realm, at least not with a dormant core. In some sense, the girl was already dead.

Is it? In this day and age I would agree, but back in the medieval times it becomes a lot less debatable especially if you are from a farming family. With magic being so readily available and seemingly not incredibly expensive they (her parents) will probably be able to pay her “medical” bills. But considering she will never improve her condition she will become an expensive a time consuming burden for her family, for the rest of her life. I know I would hate such a life. Also this is in a regular situation where we can’t assume the MC will somehow find a way to heal her which is probably what might happen.
The air in the room turned heavy. A lifetime of illness was barely better than no life at all.

Relationships are a two way deal. If you as a 20+ years old don’t try to mend it then don’t expect a -10 year old to do so. Also very childish to complain about your little brother being influenced too much by the older brother, but then ignoring him yourself giving no counter influence at all.
