Honestly its a law of averages thing, the sword is the most useful weapon outside of a battlefield thus most cultivators use it. Plus admittedly all bladed weapons end up falling in that category by most authors, so it covers a wide range. Though very rarely do mcs pursue the path of any weapon let alone the sword, most of the ones that do pursue a specific weapon dont choose the sword. The rest rarely rely on their weapon to succeed and thus pick the sword since its the most used weapon and thus the easiest to find good techniques and replacements for.

Though honestly its a wide range since there are many different strengths of bleach, and you should never use scented bleach, also wont really help with radiation or poison, best to use a filtration system as well since a good filtration system can remove radiation and poison, left that out, if your really worried about the bleach, use bleach, then filter, then boil, best way to be safe with water.

Even if some reclusive experts do, the kid definitely doesnt and mc doesnt think anyone does since he himself doesnt believe cultivators are real.
