The story begins with a young woman who has completed school. Having been hurt by love in the past, she now wants to focus on her life. However, she becomes very close to a gentleman where she works. They did not expect this to occur, but they fell deeply in love. He becomes the only individual she can trust. Her family, however, is poor. Her mother wishes that they were rich, and so she always tells her daughter to marry someone rich. One day, the rich man happens to catch sight of her. He is drawn to her at once, but she does not like him. He is quite persistent and has a controlling nature. He discovers her address and begins sending her parents large sums of money and luxurious items. Her mother loves the money and pushes her daughter even harder to marry him. The girl is stuck. She wants to be with her boyfriend, but the pressure from her parents is too much. When she takes her parents to meet him, her mother says no right away since he does not have enough money. Her boyfriend tries speaking with her mother and promises that he will be able to provide for her. The mother makes it seem like she agrees, but when the girl goes home, both parents inform her that she must break up with him. Then, the rich man proposes a marriage contract to the mother. The contract says that money will flow to the family forever if the woman weds him. Her mother promptly signs. Now, the girl must make a difficult choice: marry a man she does not love to save her family from poverty, or struggle for her own happiness and possibly lose everything, including the love of her family.
