Early next morning, Enoch was out in the martial training field along with the rest of the gradating class. Before graduation, the students had been instructed to gather here the morning after they graduated. Here they would form a party with one of the veteran heroes as their leader and instructor. The veteran heroes were all experienced and willing to pass on their knowledge to the young heroes, raising their knowledge and experience in the world. This kind of heritage was what made the Kingdom of Flora such a powerful military force.
At the front of the crowd of people was the Hero-King from yesterday, Mordred. He looked at the crowd of young heroes and smiled.
"Sir, you don't need to be here." A man next to him said in a low voice. This was Folnar, one of Mordred's aides, an elite hero who protected the kingdom.
"It's all right. I must see these young heroes. They are our futures. When we're gone, these kids will be the ones running the world." Mordred replied, his words were unhurried and relaxing to hear. His eyes swept the small crowd of the eighteen young heroes who had just graduated. Some of the children looked disinterested, while others were filled with anticipation, wondering who they were going to party up with.
"There are less than a thousand heroes in the kingdom, and with this graduating class, we will have added eighteen more to our forces. These little ones will eventually surpass us, no doubt." Mordred continued.
After waiting a few more moments, Mordred cleared his throats, ready to begin speaking. "Ahem, we will now give out the party assignments...
The First Party: Enoch, Ruby, Mark..."
Enoch heard his name as well as two other names. Ruby, and Mark. Enoch turned his head to look for the two. These two...
Enoch recalled what he knew about them. Ruby's pink hair made her stand out from the crowd, but she was otherwise somebody who blended in. However, she was very knowledgeable, and her written test scores were among the highest in the class. As for Mark, he was quiet to the point where nobody noticed him. He was always extremely low profile, to the point where Enoch had to spend the longest time just to remember his face.
While Enoch didn't really interact with his classmates, he also didn't purposefully ignore them, so he had a bit of knowledge on these two, fortunately. Ruby was a magician class hero, while Mark was an archer class hero, from what he knew. This would mean that Enoch was possibly going to be on the front lines alone, if their party leader wasn't a front liner.
While Enoch excelled in magic in his previous life, he would not grow in terms of magic anymore, so he was going to learn to be a fighter. He had decided that he would be a fighter class hero.
There were five main classes of heroes: Fighter, archer, thief, mage, and acolyte.
Fighters specialized in fighting on the frontlines
Archers specialized in ranged attacks
Thieves specialized in speed
Mages specialized in magic
Acolytes specialized in support
A good party would have a rounded composition of the classes for balance. Enoch was relatively confident that his party set up was a good one, but he would be in a very risky position if he were to be alone in the front lines. Still, Enoch remained confident. If something trifling like this was stopping him from becoming a great hero, then he might as well not become a hero.
Once the parties were all arranged and formed, all the young heroes moved to each other to get closer to their party members. Enoch himself moved over to the two. Ruby noticed this and greeted him, "Hey! Let's do our best." She said in a friendly manner.
Enoch nodded, "Let's do our best."
"R-right." Mark's responded nervously. "I'll do my best not to drag everybody down."
Enoch patted him on the shoulders, "You'll be fine." He said, reassuring him. "Where is our party leader?" Enoch looked around, all of the other graduating students all had older heroes coming to get them already, and the crowd slowly dwindled away, leaving the three of them without their leader.
His question was answered almost immediately, as Folnar approached them. "Your party leader will come pick you up in a little bit, I've been informed that he is running late." Folnar told the party. Without another word, he vanished.
Whoa, the speed of a top tier thief is no joke. Enoch thought to himself before giving his party members his attention. "It looks like we'll wait here." Enoch said. After he said that, he sat down and closed his eyes to wait for the party leader.
Ruby and Mark also did their own thing, waiting for him. They were curious what kind of man he was, and why he was late.
