Sometimes its worth reading the reviews. After reading how many people praised this novel, I gave it a try despite being put-off by the synopsis. Like really, a butler is the protagonist? However, after reading the novel, I couldn't stop myself from reading further and further, until I loudly cursed the author for going on haitus!

Sooooo good! Unique world-building. I love it! > < Characters are different than what you thought with fantastic depth. For me, I feel that their issues are relatable and grounded in realism. We have a seasoned writer here, fellow Daoists. The author, Sakhyu, created a vividly dangerous yet relatable world and interesting 'living' characters through her choice of words. I say, with only 3 chapters under her belt, I'd normally not read something like this because I'd feel it wouldn't be enough to satisfy my massive reading appetite. But this one is worth an exception. Quality-wise, this one is already good enough for paperback publication. Cheers to such good, original novel! More power to the author!

I really liked the tone of this novel. It sets up this kinda noir setting where you imagine everyone walking with trenchcoats under the rain. . . PLUS magic AND mafiosos?!. Sign me in

The chapters are very good. Having a dark soundtrack in the background really gives one feels and puts them straight into the story. The concept is very good and would recommend the story to almost everyone. Hope to see more, it is very good ;)

Really good writing quality. The characters are interesting and especially the main character is easily likable. His feelings and inner struggles are convincing and backstory as well as worldbuilding are mentioned in suitable places that wont disrupt the storys flow. The writing style has a nice pace that adjusts to the situation. It makes one feel and shiver with the main character. If the current quality can be held up, then this will surely become a gem in the near future.
