Year 50345 (in the future), the world has advanced to a state that no one could ever imagine that it would be possible. With the new HCN (Human consciousness) chip technology, humanity can continue to live a life beyond death. Only in the digital world though. In the digital world; the creator called it, “The Death Realm.” Or “Shisha no Sekai”.

How the HCN chip works are relatively simple. Once a baby is born the child get a shot in their brain that contains a super microchip, and it would record the baby’s brain activities, religious people call it the “human soul”, while scientist called it “Human Consciousness”.

After the person passes away; the chip is to be removed and all the data that was recorded by the chip over the years would then be uploaded onto a server computer. The person’s consciousness is now placed inside “Shisha no Sekai”. The people inside the virtual world had a nickname for the world, they called it, “Shinkai”.

Meet Hikaru, a regular and average 17-year-old boy; who is in his senior year of high school. However, after an unfortunate accident, he had sadly passed away. It’s okay, life for him has only begun! In the digital world of “Shisha no Sekai” meaning: The world of the dead. Hikaru’s consciousness has now been uploaded into “Shinkai”. Life was never easy for him when he was alive, yet now after he woken up inside Shinkai, he finds something is completely wrong with him.
