Another military snafu: in moving 500 calvary plus the captured spoils of war they leave a nice fat trail across grassland that a blind man could follow backwards & upside down. The tribesmen can't be that stupid & not follow the trail to the river & discover that no other tribe would be likely to escape across the banks or by boat since they dont use boats etcetera... its elementary deduction 101
This novel lacks the thrill that war stories have to offer, the battle thus far seems too lacking/easy/smooth? It can't make one blood boil with thrill like a war stories has to. It's just seems that there isn't worthy foe out there.
