If doing anything was all that important then why didnt they turn the cannons on the ship and open up on the landing party of Liu Bei? I mean come on people, battleship have been firing on land targets for centuries. It's a really nice way to soften up the enemy prior to infantry engagement. Stupid dramatic author.
