Lich doesn't come from leech, it's based on funeral terminology. The lich gate was the last bit before the corpse was interred, so a lich was a corpse that refuses to enter the lich gate and accept their death. Usually people writing death magic make life leeching intrinsic to the mechanics of it, DnD liches needing massacres to create their phylactery for instance, but that isn't necessarily their basis. Assuming kalla is trying and will eventually become a lich, another mechanic may be advisable.
Well the battle is going better than the first chapter of today made me think. I'm waiting for the balor and lith join hands to kill the lich again and them they fight to the valor death because MC's dont die
