This is one of the gems that due to Webnovel structure fell of the top 50. The story revolves about apocalypse on earth with touch of Sci-Fi and other „relams” - (my naming not author’s). The greatness of this novel is the worldbuilding and character interactions - not typical xianxia/wuxia where only the MC gets OP. No this is a struggle of whole Earth and how our MC can assist it to save humanity and his loved ones, survive and maybe thrive through Tribulations. A must read for apocaly**e/ mystery/ sci-fi fans. Each volume gets its own tempo based on „state of apocalypse” and I throughly enjoyed every verse. 10/10 If I can I will someday buy this in paper format. Oh, btw the „universe/ concept) is author original - from what I read, so I recomendd to stick to it till the real fights start.

After 2 years and 300+ chapters, I will give my second review of my own work. Hope it will help you to decide to read the novel 1. It was first written for kingdom building competition, so there are a few base buildings in the story. you will see MC travel around the world-famous cities and prepare them for the apocalypse. 2. It's a slow start, I like to build my characters and there actually some chapters that would focus on other characters, but please be patience these characters will give meaning to the story later on. 3. You will not see any OP power of the MC until later volume. (its an interesting one) 4. This is a 2 years old novel, so you can see that the writing will improve in the later chapters. 5. There will be romance - but sorry No Harem The novel is part of a bigger universe with my other novel. so world-building is where I spent a lot of my research and thought in. hope you enjoy it. thanks

I am a fan of second chance, do-over stories. This uses a modern-day apocalypse trope. Not always a fan of these, but I like the uncertainty and concerns that even the main character can't forsee everything and has to adapt.

Well written and i like the fact that that the writing is straight to the point, without much unnecessary ado. Tho i have to say it's hard to relate and enjoy with the MC already have existing wife and daughter, especially when their character isn't explored at all in the story. The MC also only focus on preparation to save the world is kind of tasteless and boring without any side-plots to make.ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤAlso it seems romance tag won't start until far later in the story which disappoints me when i was really looking forward for the Apocalypse Romance match up. It should have #LateRomance / #SlowRomance too.ㅤㅤAnyway. i'm not patient person so i can't really invest my time up until 150 chapters for the real action to happen.ㅤㅤGood plot but unfortunately not my cup of tea, sorry gotta drop this ٩(ര̀ᴗര́)ᵇʸᵉ

Doomsday Pillars The last short novel I read on Webnovel has been a big disappointment. Seeing that Earth’s Greatest Magus has been consistently well rated for the past two years and its author wrote a short story, I decided to give a try to Doomsday Pillars, both to erase the bad taste the previous tales left me with and to see if I would go for the writer’s longer novel at a later date. The plot of the story is classic but pretty well written story of a reincarnator in a zombie and later « demon » apocalypse, but done in a very « realistic », pragmatic and griity style. Moreover the plot seems to indicate a more complex metaplot encompasing all the novels in the Avan-verse. This lead to one of the flaw of the novel, as the ending is a bit abrupt and in the form of a cliffhanger since it is the first part of this universe’s « Apocalypse Trilogy », whose second book is being written as of now. The main character is a decisive factor in the tales, as he is not a young man, but a middle-aged husband and father who acts accordingly, and with a perserpective of the bigger picture. The other characters are also well-made although not equally. By the the way, the author changes perspectives to other characters in many points of the story, often for a serie of chapters, which adds quality to the story. On side note, the realistic, gritty mood of the tale means that (good) characters will die, sommetimes in poignant ways. The power system is well made but rough (it seems it’s explained in more details in other books of the Avan-verse) but fine. A big flaw of this novel is the high number of vocabulary (confusion of homophone) and grammar mistakes that can be found, as well as the occasional typos. There are less of these in the last tenth of the book, but a recheck would be needed. In conclusion, Doomsday Pillars is a fine short novel with a griity, realistic mood, good character and a well-made setting, although some of it only gives us a peek in the author’s universe (in which all of his tales take place), but it is weakened by an uneven writting quality (vocabulary mistakes) and an abrupt cliffhanger ending. My final verdict is a solide 7 out of 10, and I will certainly read other novels from this writer at a later date. Kergonan out. P.S : Thank to Avan for writing this novel

Love how the author has used such detail in his world building. And if you read his other stories, most are inter-connected in one way or another.

Avan really wrote a beautiful apocalyptic novel. It's twenty times much better than those system based apocalyptic novels with stale themes. He went deep into research and world development starting from what was familiar to him and expanding outwards. You really must try it.

Great book. It takes a genre that has a lot of similar novels, and it writes that genre much better than most others. Takes similar building blocks and puts them together extremely well. A little disappointed by the lack of updates, but I understand that it is all for the "race" to get more votes for other novels, some of which I recommend. They do a good job of further building on the world, as they are all in the same "universe." It was updating super regularly until other novels became more profitable.
