With all his caution around changing the events of the timeline, stealing the stone is going to change a lot of things. Honestly, Draco should steal it after Harry defeats Quill, from Harry. That way, Harry would still have the encounter with Voldemort. He can just snatch it before Dumbledore sends it off to be destroyed by Nicholas.

I’m glad that there is actual growth for Draco in this novel, it makes him more relatable
