Hello, the author here. Just reviewing my work in order to promote it, and offer the readers some idea of what to expect. This is my fourth novel, and the one I'm most proud of. My main focus when writing has been on creating believable characters and relationships that we can empthaise with. A genuinely brilliant work. The characters are multidimensional and realistic, the setting and attention to historical detail are superb. The story itself is also great, building at a good pace with a really interesting premise. I love the way that Gengyo adapts to the world that he's been sent to. The action is also exciting and nicely presented, I hope that Gengyo will use more of the sword / be more formally schooled in it in the near future also, as I imagine that it would be very exciting! Thank you Nick for what's looking like an amazing novel. I really hope that you continue to stick with it as in terms of overall quality this is the best that I've seen on Webnovel.

Worst piece of ****. I stop reading after chapter 91. This novel is the worst there is. The author just killed the characters that has best potential in this novel. Don't read this I'm warning you. Fuck this ****. The worst novel I've read in my whole life.

It seems that the author did his fact checking with anime. Almost everything that could be wrong is, I had higher hopes but this story would be horrible if you have even a little knowledge of Japan and the structure of it at this time.

This is the first and maybe last book review I’ll ever come to write. But since this book is just that good I wish to express that in this short comment on the book. I won’ go intot too much detail since the reviews before me are already describing it well, this book is greatly written. As I’ve progressed in the story I’ve found myself to be very invested with almost all characters and it’s honestly hard to see some parts of this book as fiction and not a factual retelling. I dearly hope that the author is going to finish this book, even though the last chapter update was quite a long time ago. Ig I’ll just have to hope a little. And if you read this, author, I hope that this review will give u at least a bit of motivation to continue this work, for one more person at least was mesmerized by the world you’ve created.

Good intro but I would probably not be able to fully read the book in the next couple of years... I would buy this if there are Printed books out there. I don't trust this site or the people running it to give it any monetary support.

the novel is fun for the most part. it has a decent plot and pace but it gets worse with time, and starts to have more unrealistic and fantasy element's. you can clearly see why the Arthur quit because he wrote himself into a corner and jumped the mc tech by about 500 years and gave him a computer.

You are a shut-in self-hating white man twisted by delusions of mythical Japanese superiority and exposure to Japanese media into a disgusting mockery of nature’s perfection. All 'validation' you get from other people in this position couldn't be worse in making you believe that spending years of your life learning a globally useless language to a first-grader's level was a worthwhile use of your time, but one can't expect that an individual as pathetic as you will ever know the value of the youth you threw away in doing that. Actual Japanese are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of linguistic evolution have allowed natives to identify frauds from mannerisms and vocabulary alone. Even if your written text of self-hatred and attention begging akin to a stray dog's somehow passes as normal (it won't), any Japanese person will immediately cut all ties when they hear the voice and accent of someone who is not only a basic Japanese speaker at best, but worth no more than garbage in skills, accomplishments, and likeability. You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile and laugh to yourself believing that watching a content creator that you understand 20% of at best is somehow superior than watching your own kind, as you project your disgusting traits onto your entire kind. However, deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight, and you know that. You know that all you do now is have an entirely new linguistic medium in which to be ignored, and not even the exotic trait of being foreign makes up for just how uninteresting of a person you are. Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your parents will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll bury you with a headstone marked with your birth name, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a Western man is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably Caucasian. This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back. Hate yourself and apologize for being white to some Japanese entity that exists only in your mind while actual Japanese people put in effort to learn English for the valid reason of it being the global language.

This story was very good till the end. The last few chapter, espicially the last one, were terribly. Espicially compared to the well thought out parts before it. The updating stability was good, as there used to be another update every day. The chapters became quite short halfway through the story, which was quite annoying.

Good noval so far but I can't finish it as I have to pay for the rest of the novel. Although even with how far I got before I couldn't continue the story looks good. Only whish is that this would be free to read.

The novel is great at invoking emotions and the characters feels alive. The world moves and develops behind the scenes. Protagonist's actions have repercussions of which are most likely forgotten by regular amateur authors. Some of the tactics are great but the protagonist keeps forgetting that he has range advantage during field wars so his tactics doesn't make sense sometimes. I just take it that the genius protagonist is still learning warfare.. The story would have been great if the author continued the slow burner pacing and didn't introduced out of the way concepts too fast. Concepts should have been foreshadowed even as a passing side note. These things made it looks like that author didn't planned for it and have just thought of it during the moment of writing.. The technology development is sensible at first but then turned crazy at one point which the author said he regrets in one of the comments. My advice for technology uplifting stories is to just nudge the development into the right way lessening the trial and error part of the natural development so that you can maintain what make sense instead of outright producing a high technological product which isn't satisfying.. A great novel with technology uplifting that makes sense with the plot is "Sword of the Dawnbreaker" here on this site also titled "Sword of the Daybreaker" on mtl sites since it's dropped by translator but is still ongoing in raws.."Magic Technology Empire" is also a great novel with technology uplifting that has a model that makes sense and is still being translated for free. Author might want look for these for inspiration.. Overall: great characters, good story but the author got impatient at one point and started concepts left and right because they're 'sparkly'..

I believe as many of my fellow readers that this is one of the better novel to be read on this app. Despite those who denounce this novel due various opinions, the characters are well made, the plot retains a steady flow and the rise and falls of the story are intruguing and keeps the story exciting. I have found myself many time in awe of how the author was capable of capturing the emotions of the readers through each battle. Having read this novel to the lastest chapter, I can truly say this was a good novel. Though I do believe this book may have been dropped. I am thankful for what author has created thus far and am looking forward to reading his future works. An honest review from a fan- P4rkchopz

really overall the story is a decent read. but there are problems with it. frist off the story kind of takes a sharp left turn around chapters 100 on up. and while for a time it seemed things were getting back on track it took other jump of a cliff with the death of a number of major historical characters. while not a problem on it's on one character was really given a cheap death that didn't feel right. still the story is worth reading and perhaps one of the better stories I read in some time.

This story is gritty and sorowfully dark at times. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the ride even if the plot got a bit lost in the final chapters. Thank you authour for your hard work.
