Wtf Primitive your ass show some f*cking respect motherf*cker blacksmithing is an art is not about just learning blacksmithing is about experience it’s about understanding the metal and flame. And what the f*ck is treated 100 times you mean like quenching or folding the iron or hardening-tempering it makes no sense either way Abel: I once read a paper about black holes now I can make them at home

This novel has many things that i find confusing but these last ones do not really deserve such a beating as seen on the comments. So i will have to do the devils advocate for this part :) First hammering and heating repeatedly the iron to remove the impurities is a true thing. They didn't have a shop where they could by their already purified iron. The residues of the process are called hammerscale and are used extensively in archaeology to identify iron smithies. As for him learning to forge, the goal is not to learn the weight or lenght of a sword but to learn to control his strength and body by doing an activity where he has to use great strength and concentration. Preferably a different activity from the usual knight training. And i am sure he wants to do many things different from what he is doing now, but he is just a kid and has to obey his adoptive father. He must have practically no time or opportunity to do anything more. But everything will come to him if he has a little patience. Not like he can just ignore everything and everybody and do whatever he wants being 12 years old or did he already got to 13 by now?

I don’t understand why everyone is going up in arms about the forging process. Everyone is looking for realistic forging methods when reading a story about magic and knights. The whole world is made up by the author if he/she wants the forging method for their made up world to be that way then guess what guys... that’s the forging method. That is the logic of the world.

Author needs to just wave his hands and not try to explain things he doesn't understand. Nothing wrong with saying he's forging a sword and skipping the details. Probably needs to do the same with any distance or other details when they don't freaking matter. See that way to often, don't mention a distance from a to b in anything other than long or short or approx travel times unless the distance is somehow important to the story.

I assume those at the highest level of power can probably live a lot longer than normal people. So saying that if he can become a master blacksmith in a few years, he probably should do that at some point. Not all at once but slowly over the course of his journey and I am sure he will pick up alchemy or some magic profession for his wizard training.

Aaaand that’s all folks. I tried giving it a chance for character growth and challenges but I guess I expect to much. P.S. I never finished this chapter, I had to stop the moment blacksmithing processes were explained.

I assume the author is speaking of folding the iron, but he is horribly mistaken when he was speaking about pounding out the carbon. The knight marshal has an iron mine and iron is rather soft comoared to steel, steel is actually just iron that has had carbon mixed into it. So, back before they had good ways of making steel in a foundry they started out with a way to add carbon to the iron by flattening it out and then folding it and forge welding the piece back together. The more you do this process the more impurities you will beat out of the iron and the more carbon you will add (to a certian point). This will make a superior weapon to just a regular iron blade.

The comment section is wild. I’m just here for the ride. There is no such thing as perfection or complete understanding.

Cant he grab 54 lingots of iron, and fuse them together? that way he can create a better iron for the sword. If i was MC i would use the cube for experiments at least 1 hour per day
