I was going to burst at the thought of Mitsuko and of our pointless argument. If only she could read my mind while she slept blissfully, she would have comprehended how much I truly tried. I searched for a meaning in my head, flooded with infinite dilemmas. Suddenly, I felt like thousands of voices screamed within my brain, powerless to shut them off, it hurt more when I attempted to calm them down.
"Follow me," Sheila said, as she called my name from the halls, she waited for me to come, and I did, chasing her to the main library.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I don't have enough time, you need to go and meet the Seer."
"I don't know who she is or where she lives."
"I need you."
"Why don't you tell me what you know? Since you came into my life, everything fell apart."
"If I only could, I would have by now. I was watching you for months. It was the Seer who told me of your arrival."
"Are you by any chance dead?" I asked.
"I don't think so. I feel very much alive."
"You don't know if you're alive?"
"I constantly return to Kalhal, and escaping is becoming each day challenging," she said.
"Yes, did you tell anyone what happened at the wendigo cove?"
"No, I don't even understand what occurred."
"This is why you should go and meet the Seer, she'll explain to you all there is to know."
"Where can I find this Seer?"
"Under the Mediterranean Sea, near the island of Sicily," she said.
"You want me to venture under the sea?"
"You can do it, you can breathe underwater. Mermaids will take you to the castle of the Drakoons. You don't have much time left, the guardians will have a midnight break of five minutes, this is your only chance."
"What? Real mermaids?"
"Tell the mermaids 'ene ast salahar en ne re vanti'," she said, as she vanished into thin air, yet again.
"I knew you were hiding something," Mitsuko said.
The sound of her voice made me jump from the shock. I could clearly notice the air of disappointment as she looked at me.
"Who were you talking to?" She asked.
"I have to go," I said as I walked briskly away from her.
"No!" she shouted, while her fingers clung tightly to my left arm.
"You need to tell me what's going on. You have to stop doing everything by yourself. We are a team, you can't keep us in the dark."
"I know, but you won't believe me. Even I have trouble accepting what's going on."
She loosened her grip, coming closer to me, as her beautiful feline eyes stared at mine intensely.
"I have accepted and viewed you as a potential friend, while everyone judged you for being a metin rae. You have all the credentials to be a powerful reymir if you trusted us. If you only trusted me," she said.
"I really need to go."
With a flickering of her fingers a strong breeze appeared, closing the library doors.
"If you can't find the words, then try in some other way. I'm not moving from here and neither are you, I understand we don't know each other as well as you and Robert, but we also have a bond," she said.
I knew she wanted an explanation, and what if I told her? No, she would have never believed my loony story. Perhaps, rather than clarify this entire mess, it would have been better to let her experience it. I was able to connect with Dominique's soul, as I witnessed his memories, with her telepathy I might have amplified any power I already had. I approached her, placing my hand on her rosy cheek, I focused on every memory I had, the death of my mother and the presence of Sheila were only a few of what she was going to witness. I tried conveying what was locked deep in my subconscious, as I passed it on to her, to let her finally comprehend the reality I was going through.
"Close your eyes. Concentrate on my thoughts, and I'll make you see what I saw, make you feel what I felt."
Once she received the images recorded in my mind, she glared for several seconds, perhaps, in disbelief of what she saw. She caressed me with one hand, while the other one tidied up every strand of hair covering my face. As she kissed me softly, a tear came down my cheek.
"You were never alone. I promise we will find her together," she said.
