Maybe not a good idea to bring your essentially best friend/brother to a blacksmith who watched as Brann killed his own brother in cold blood. Its just a bad thing to risk. Karl would not be a great travel companion anyway because he does not have runes so he is essentially useless in a fight and would drag you down.

So he wants to bring a guy without a clan meaning no skills on a journey. What is the point if your travel companion can’t contribute or is a burden cause that is what he will be normally. Might as well travel alone.
