I am the author of this novel, so of course I am biased to myself.
Welcome to my book!
I thank everyone for reading my work, even if you don't like it.
I have read a LOT of webnovels, many of them translated from chinese. I have seen a lot of commonly used tropes, and as a change of pace, I wanted to create something different.
There will be nearly no "Young Masters". Only a very select few. (The absence of at least one idiot is just as bad as overfilling)
There will be no "I must save (the Honor of) my Family!"
There will be no "Heaven sent lucky chances". Heaven controls luck, and Heaven does not like the MC, at all.
I also want to show a real change in Gravis' personality as time goes by. He won't always be a wimp. He won't always be a cold-hearted killing machine. Just as emotions change, people change with them.
This is a lot to live up to, but I'll do my best.
Updates will be 2 chapters per day.
I have a backlog, so updates will be constant.
Thank you all for reading!
I love how the mc try his hardest to not form emotional attachments, as he know that it would be extremely dangerous for those involved. I also enjoy how he insults Heaven, but they cannot do anything about it directly. Honestly, 5 stars aint enough for this novel.
This is probably the first review I ever did with this account, and I will inaugurate it by writing one here.
Good, Amazing, Epic, Excellent, Easy... I don't even know what to say.
I read at least half a dozen of cultivation novels, but the cultivation system here is probably the easiest but trickiest I have ever read about. Usually, cultivation will always start with the condensation of qi or energy in their dantian, but here everything starts with the body because you would be unable to withstand the pressure of the energy in your body.
Also, it is possible to switch up the order of what stage of a cultivation realm can be cultivated first! I don't know if you are the first of have thought of this, or you copied it from someone else. I don't care since I read your story first, and this was a genius idea.
As for Gravis, I don't know about everyone else's opinion about this kind of character. I am more of a fanfiction fan so I am usually stuck in the fanfic section, trying to find the smallest bit of gold among all that wish fulfillment trash. Because of that, I am used with the kind of mc that does anything he wants just because it's the most effective way to deal with problems.
Instead, here we have what it feels to be too cocky and getting biten back, attempts to switch to a comic side of the story, anger, insanity, sadness, obsession, and grief. It's a great intake of fresh air. I am still around chapter 180, so I don't know of you already did it, but I would suggest to give a further push to Gravis. Not in anger though, since there is still that guy whose name i forgot that threw him in the cesspool. Rather, it would be good creating a long-lasting relationship with someone, either one of brotherhood or romanticism, before cutting it apart in some way. Because with Stella, even if it was sad, it was also too short.
It sounds weird, but I like feeling sad for characters. No Game No Life Zero did it for me, Code Geass did it for me, Assassination Classroom did it for me, I believe you also have the potential to make my heart go doki doki.
As for the world, I can't really say anything because I just reached the core continent of the lower world in terms of plot location. There is still a lot missing, but I will give an update when the story will reach a certain point.
Grammar is all perfect for me, and I have no comment for updating frequency because I have still half of the story to read about.
In summary, I will hack through your pc and find your location, before banging your window with my naked ass and then punch you in the face if I reach the last chapter and read that it is dropped for a stupid reason.
I'll hold my eyes on you, sweet source of my own entertainment.
I am just giving up. The story is just depressing to read. I understand the point of the story. I understand why everything is happening the way it is. It isn't that the story doesn't make sense.
The story is fairly well written with consistent updates. The pace of the story moves along at a good clip as well. The issue really comes down to the character design and world background. Both of these are intrinsically linked due to the primary antagonist, Heaven, also being an integral part of the world design itself.
It just isn't fun to read. Who cares if the MC is overpowered if things are manipulated by Heaven so that he never has a real challenge? Who cares if the MC's Dad is one of the strongest beings in creation if he just allows the other strongest beings to harass and ultimately kill his children? Who cares about the MCs goals if he destroys himself in the process?
The entire time I was reading I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop, for it to feel like the MC was actually making progress. After 100+ I am done. The story is just depressing and not fun. You know that every time he gets close to someone they are going to die or have their life ruined. You know he is never going to stumble upon something interesting unless the purpose of stumbling on it is to hurt him.
Tragedy: "Tragedy is a form of drama based on human suffering and, mainly, the terrible or sorrowful events that befall a main character."
This story really needs a tragedy tag so that people who don't want to leave in a worse mood than they started can avoid it.
the loop-holes are few or none at all. All of the points or the flaws of the main character are addressed understandably with reasonable context . There are no OP -surprise systems without careful deliberation and a good understanding of how these might future chapters and how this event was built up by previous chapters such as his lightning seed and losing elemental synchronicity . Relationships are dealt with realistically if put into the human world. All I want is for him to meet his brothers and father to explain to him what actually happened to his body. Overall amazing novel with good vocab and storytelling. World building is slightly lacking in flora and fauna concepts and ever since he reached the middle continent in the latter parts we never seem to see beasts as it focused on his interactions with other human enemies which is a bit saddening.
Literally one if not THE best eastern type fantasy book I have read. Almost no cliches, unique story, actual character development, great world design, amazing side characters that the author makes you care for and last but not least, the MC has no actual plot armor, meaning he doesn't just not die because he is the "MC" but because it makes sense.
he creats a curiouse world for the reader and makes you want to read more. The character himself as the author says dose start off distained but trully dose change along with his charatcher, with some how not forrgetting his past self.I gave the writting a 4 becuse as there are a few spelling mistakes and the writing in some places could read smoother his flow and pacing are great along with the narrative. The updates get a 5 cus he has stayed true to his words 2 chapters a day.
This is without a doubt one of the better books on this site. Story-wise it is interesting right from the beginning. The pacing is excellent and the concept of the story is refreshingly unique.
The writing quality is on point. There is little anyone could say to argue the negative. The grammar and spelling are tight. The formating is structured in a that makes reading easy and the overall quality of English is excellent.
The story has enough chapters that new readers don't even have to think about update stability and continuing readers are given the content they crave.
The story development is on point. It flows well and nothing feels "grindy", gritty or stagnant. The characters are well fleshed out and refreshingly human. There are no cardboard cutouts to be found here. The Mc is interesting, faces constant minor and major challenges that make him interesting and has enough depth that you aren't reading about a potato with plot armour.
And as for world building, the Author handles it with a finesse that makes learning about the world apart of the journey and not just info dump that the Mc has to wade through on his path to power.
Over all the story seems amazing.
This story is one of the best ones I've ever seen. I don't want to spoil too much but this is actually my second time reading. The first time I was so sad about the death of one of my fav characters that I dropped it. But i liked the storyline so much that I came back, and it didn't disappoint. I got up to the premium part and unlocked every single chapter there is. I can easily tell how much effort the author put into this book. The story isn't fact nor slow, just the perfect pace. There is so much character development, the world background is also very complex and well thought through. everything is five star except for stability of update. The stability isn't perfect, but it's not too bad. Overall, really amazing so far author, hope u keep it up :D
I love this novel. The mc changes DRASTICALLY within the story, which helps to give the character more of a real feel, as you could see yourself maybe empathizing with him. You get to see how the things he goes through affecf him mentally and how he grows from them.
In conclusion, give it a try.
This is crazy good for an Original Work!!! I have only read a few chapters so far. Normally I would never leave a review after just a few chapters unless the author was really bad. But this one is so GREAT at writing and the logic behind his world and world building is fantastic! This LN actually has the "heavens" of the cultivation universe/world show an intelligence or capacity to think and that it is actively continuously working against cultivators growing stronger (or also called going against the heavens). Very great start to this LN and I really can't wait to read more and get an in-depth immersion into this LN's world :-)
I really liked the name of this novel and totally judged it by it's cool cover, like I'm supposed to. Writing quality is also surprisingly good: finding a cultivation novel that's not a complete moron shitshow is getting harder and harder, so no armies of arrogant punchbags for main character to feel smug about himself. The novel has an original take on protagonist vs heaven theme, which is also it's biggest weakness – the way heaven affects characters is really inconsistent and not clearly defined. I'm still not sure what the rules are and can't wait for the main character to eventually meet his demise by a heavy piano or an anvil falling over his head. This concept also attributes everything to heaven, so there's no real enemies except it and the whole story feels like a constant fight with one enemy and basically no place for any sidequests.
When I first picked up 'Lightning is the Only Way' I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into. I knew it was a Cultivation Novel and also that it would be my second such novel. What I didn't expect was to come to enjoy it as much as I did.
From page one, the story pulled me in and dragged me along on a wild ride that I won't soon forget. I'll admit it was a bit slow to get started, (only for the first few chapters 3 tops) and I might be singing its praises a little too much.
That said, once the journey really gets rolling it never fails to entertain. Several times I was left with my jaw hanging loosely and my mind racing as I tried to figure out how Gravis was going to come out of this one on top. Other times I was left simply speechless at the developments that went down.
The characters all seem pretty fleshed out and solid. There isn't as much character detail as I'm used to, but that's not really much of a complaint at all. In ways, it helps speed the story along, while also allowing me to fabricate images of these characters all on my own. Gravis as the main character is interesting as well. Watching the way his logic and thinking have changed over these, (almost 200) chapters has been quite fun to watch.
Updates have been consistent and almost always on time so no complaints there at all. Really not an issue if you're concerned about having to wait for further developments.
The world is where things get a bit iffy for me. Is it solid enough for the story to work? Absolutely! However, I personally find the lack of certain details to be an issue. I love world-building and while there is indeed some in this story, I want to know more about certain things. That though is only a personal qualm and has no real bearing on my opinion of this novel.
All in all, I would definitely suggest giving this Novel a read. The author works hard and has only improved on his storytelling abilities as this tale has gone on. I'm giving this Novel a Solid 4.6 but if I ignore my personal issues with this novel, (and that's easy to do) its a Complete 5 Star rating!
Shameless Author here, with a shameless review.
I wrote a novel recently, which is Call of Ring. It was my very first attempt at writing, and there may be some mistakes and errors in it, but I still feel extremely proud of it and enjoy it thoroughly.
Please give my story a try and leave some comments for me. Thank you!
Hey there! Here are some web novel recommendations for whom share the same taste with me. If you like this story, my recommendations are worth a try!
Even though this is a cultivation novel It has continued to truly Surprise me And keep me wanting more.
Written pretty well with some minor typos or spelling mistakes but nothing too noticeable
You do have to buy chapters eventually but there’s plenty of good stuff to get you hooked before that
It’s just generally really good
