Overall, I would say this novel is definitely worth a read but there are a few things that may put some people off 1.) Be ready for a lot...and I mean a lot, of details and info dumps. They are typically well constructed but sometimes talking and information can go on for multiple chapters at a time 2.) The MC's personality can be seen as sort of naive at times considering everything and contradictory at times as well (gets better as time goes on and doesn't affect the story too much) 3.) Be ready to agree with the villains more often than the MC lol ( Most of the big villains are the type that have the right idea but go about it the wrong way) All this being said, how I described it may sound worse than it actually is and I would recommend giving this book a try.

Ok i am jumping right into the dislikes because the author does it a lot. Overexplaining, author will take 4 chapters to explain simple economics or a simple part of Dragon Cities lore. Honestly a lot of auttgors do it on this site because they dont storyboard and lose track of the narrative every other chap but i think this author just wants the word count. due to that the story doesn’t proceed to about the 100th chap, Hang in there if you can afford to get that far into it on this sight if not id suggest another novel with an author who doesnt write like hes explaining Calculus to a child.

Almost as good as FMOC, similar to FMOC it is a book with superb world-building, dealing with complex problems in a sci-fi world, wonderful action scenes and surprising plots.

This novel have an Overlord type. The Mc have a villain side. If only it will have an anime adaptation because it is so good that it stoke my excitement after three years of reading webnovels.. and oh, this is not your face slapping, it is more like a clash intelligent monsters and human, and collision of principles and morals which is my favorite..... .

Unique world background. Check Unique personality of mc. Check Unique personality of characters . Check Unique System. Check Unique cultivation system. Check Clashes of different personalty, principles, and behavior between villains and Mc. Check At first I thought this is the same old system cultivation novel that is overpowered and have villains that are unreasonable and getting angy for no reason at all or I say the villain did not state the reason why they hate and become angry because others slap them a little and kill them for that reason. And guess what this is one of the novel that poke the nerve in my mind and at the same time, it answers the questions that are bugging me 3 years ago. Rich and poor. Weak and strong. This is a novel that arouse my my whole interest after getting numbed reading Chinese novels. More importantly, it reformed my life views a little. And oh, wish that this novel will have an anime adaptation because if it did it will become popular in no time......

Great novel. Don't think its a usual system novel. There aren't annoying 2 dimensional enemies around every corner. It is like Worlds Best Martial Artist. Very fun read.

the novel is really good but I am stopping at chapter 310, I read webnovels to relax my mind and imagine myself in a different set of circumstances not to really think about human existentialist theories.

dropped chapter 334. story setting is truly amazing. also the story itself is very creative and logical without any broken logic or loopholes in general. but oh well author went side ways after chapter 270. the story suddenly became 99% filler and 1% development. he literally just described a ideology over and over again for almost 40 characters. in my humble opinion 3-5 is maximum.

One of my favourite novels at the moment. It has a good pace of progression, balanced with intriguing schemes and reasonable power ups. Combat writing is solid, with enemies enhancing at a rapid pace.

this book reminds me of those book during the first and second years since webnovel was made. its really awesome and i really hope that this book would also have an anime adaptation like the "king's avatar" because really this would be a hit if there is an anime or even a comic. i hope the author and translators will continue to write this book till the end😊

As of Chapter 461, this Novel has been pretty good. I have seen a lot of reviews talking about some selection process, and I don't really know anything about that, but the novel has one of the better settings I've seen. The setting is unique and circumstances are interesting. The story takes place on an unknown world after an entire city transmigrated 50-100 years ago. There seems to be a sort of system in place to help limit the destruction, but it seems that in this era its slowly fizzling out. MC has returned back in time after the City was destroyed 50 years in the future, and He has a system that rewards him for contributing to humanity. It really doesn't give him much direction or anything, but he knows the previous history to some extent and works to help the City survive. Part of what makes this novel different I think is the scope of the decisions the MC has to make as the novel progresses. He starts out dealing with his own issues in his life and affecting the classmates around him, but eventually he has to evaluate the city's society as a whole, but from a position where he doesn't have control. At this point he has a middling amount of influence, but has to tackle society wide problems like inequality, unemployment, and contrasting political factions. The Cultivation is not really the main focus of the novel at this point, but there is an aspect of detective work, as he remembers who the enemies were, but doesn't remember or know the finer details. There are many unsolved mysteries, and as the scope of the novel grows I'm hoping we get more answers. That is not to say there isn't fighting. There definitely is, but the MC has had to go against the grain of the Society's one-shot fighting style so that everyone can better understand how the future fights will need to be won to minimize casualties. So the MC has less focus on overwhelming power. The side characters are interesting and varied, although it seems like after a certain point they lose their place as an active member in the story. Not that they are forgotten, because they tend to show up in small ways during crisis, but more that they have lost their place as part of the storytelling. It's a situation where they still exist in the world and are mentioned from time to time, but are not necessarily a device for plot progression anymore. However that does lead to a wide cast of characters, and lets many people become important parts of the story at certain times, and at least the are not completely forgotten. Overall I would recommend giving this novel a shot. I can't make any promises about what the future holds, but up until this point it has been very good.

They talk about philosophy and ethics a lot in this novel but it doesn’t add up. They have only encountered “monsters” so far and not other civilizations but already talking about enslaving and conquering the world. No mention of allying or if the other races are hostile. Feels like they brought destruction on themselves (with their superiority complex). ...if anything a war for territory makes sense but from the mc flashbacks it seems like the whole world doesn’t like them.

at first you'll be surprised with the non-cliche humour and "humanity uniting to a common goal" in this novel...but be WARNED: in the latter parts of the story, the author would stuff at least 150 chapters here and there with filler content that is so diabolical as philosophical essays. Yup, we're talking about at least 45 chapters straight of philosophy on ethics, humanity and morality mixed with one or two sentences at each chapter about actual plot. it's so diabolical that you can't even skip it because the next chapter won't even make sense. it's so frustrating since the TL work is actually very good but web novel has just given the TL a trashy novel.

Amazing story. He isn't overpowered in an exaggerated way and the system element is not done in the usual manner. The story is fleshed out really well and the author has tied many plot points together with parts in the start of the story continuing to be relevant 100s of chapters later. No silly unexplainable powerups either. MUST READ!

Honest score : 2/5 Tl;dr MC is the biggest cowatd in the entire galaxy. World was good, characters were good, story was somewhar going somwhere but right when we focus back on MC inside the civilization everything becomes meaningless. Honestly the start was boring then it got good when I read some character development specially on MC side where he was supposedly becoming more of a veteran and bloodthirsty as he could awaken his memories; however after that, after the fight in the wood where he finally acted more like a man fighting against a wolf that almost got his arm; I had kept on reading further but it is just so damn bleak. The MC turns back to the biggest coward on planet Earth you’ll ever see, even after a spike up on his cultivation after a war expedition around chapter 200s~ where at one point he mentioned he won’t hide anymore because supposedly he’s become OP; during an interuniversity tornament you notice he has not changed one damn bit. Somehow he can have good fights when it is against monster and all then when it is against students he only knows how to hide, doesn’t have his supposedly veteran aura anymore that he has against beast. To be clear at this point I cannot be sure anymore if it is whether he is just truly that big of a wuss or he is going back on his words about not needing to hide his strenght because he also needs ressources. I am starting to understand this less and less as I read on because somehow the character develpment he had just gets nullified, at least that is how it feels to me as he awaken more and more of his veteran memories and skills, not only he seems to be weaker but more importantly incomparably timid. And it was clearly mentioned in the story at one point, the city and its organizations are seeking continuously promising youth to nurture and there isn’t even a clear explanation on why he has to hide his strenght as such while many others are just so open about it. It’s often read in the novel’s words how of a hero not afraid of pain he is but this MC is just a damn coward that cannot fight like omg I’m running out of words on clearly how embarassing it is when you have just read how awesome he is against some beasts in the forests then once back in the civilization he gets thrashed by some random university youth because supposedly he isn’t using the fighting style he prefers, which is to hide, like when did he had to when it was against the beasts though ?? And also how is he somehow able to promote the ultimate style while doing as he does ? For some reason you read spectators comment about how good what he did was, I mean thank god for these comments because without them I truly would have been able to comprehend in what way what he did was different than how others did or that it was meaningful in any way and of course the system counting it as a win (successful promotion) is beyond me. I am only so angry because the world building was good, the characters were good too but the MC himself is such a massive pain that I would have prefered to read the life of any secondary character in this novel; the novel wasn’t ruined by anything else but the protagonist itself, it makes me so angry. Translation quality, update stability 5 stars Story development 2 stars Character design 1 star World background 4 stars Overall 3.4

This is the second book of this author that's available on Webnovel. The reason why almost all my ratings are 3 star is because the story lacks of innovation and at some point to even became worse than the previous novel that was posted on this site (40 millenniums of cultivation). To be honest I highly suspect that this story might be written before 40 millenniums of cultivation because in many ways 40 millenniums feels like a better version of this story. But there are also hints that this story has been written this year with hints to the corona virus. Anyway where 40 millenniums of cultivation tells the story of how humans live and still fight their beast enemies after having lived in this world for 40 000 years, this novel tells the story of what happened when humans first arrived in the cultivation world and the start of the war against the beasts. The mc's roughly follow the same path and have similar backgrounds. They are both poor, have limited resources and struggle to stand out because of it. Where the mc from 40 millenniums has the knowledge of the spirit of a time travelling monster this mc has a system. They both break their bodies to save people and their heroic actions still allows him to join the university he wants. There is a small difference in that these things are written far more condensed than with 40 millenniums. It is these similarities and differences that made me unable to give an higher rating than 3 stars for most categories. Don't get me wrong I still admire the author for managing to expand on his original story world and the concepts he used there by telling how it all started. It is cool to see the beginnings of the mecha suits that were such a big part of the 40 millenniums story or the beginnings of the operator cultivators who in 40 millenniums are able to control massive spaceships and in this story are only able to operate some trucks and drones. But no matter how important a well written and thought through world is (and I understand if people would object to well thought through part), a story is carried by its characters. It is the characters who you want to follow and you want to find out how they survive the storyline. And if those characters follow the same path of the characters in earlier written books in the same universe it becomes not only important you have a good character but also good side characters and stories connecting them and so far this part is to me underdeveloped.

the start of this novel reminds me of the movie Star Ship Troopers, a lot. There are differences too off course, like cultivation and body development, but the tone of the novel and culture of the people are very much alike. Especially the indoctrination of we're the best and the macho culture. I'm afraid though that the cynicism and cultural commentary that was very much part of the Star Ship Troopers movies is not part of this novel.

Another half-brain dead novel. It started out fine and yet a lack of imagination, of plot progression, hinders this so much. It's like biting into a fruit expecting goodness but only tasting blandness instead. The biggest gripe is the MC. The author makes the MC out to be some sort of hero trope yet fails as the author fails to integrate other elements e.g. returnee knowledge and resulting character "issues" ( due to the MC returnee knowledge, the MC is "weak to the strong, but strong to the weak" i.e. a bully instead of just being weak all-around). It thus becomes disjointed and thus makes it a bland read. Readable but not recommendable.

I don't use spoiler tags because from my experience, people usually think it's filled with spam trash. Anyways. Dragon City and a few surrounding cities were suddenly isekai'd into another world. MC is born in Dragon City a few decades after the isekai. He lives in a somewhat poor family with a cripple mother, hardworking father, and demon (literally) little sister. This novel is filled with nationalism. Not chinese nationalism, but Earth Nationalism. The oldies that survived the isekai spread ideals of how Earth was cultured and civilized, and not to deteriorate into a typical wuxia world, they tried their best to maintain their human behaviors. Needless to say this goes completely wrong and right at the same time. The author loves to challenge MC's moral and ethical views on what makes a human with other very interesting characters. For example. If a human becomes a supernatural human that are able to cultivate are they still humans? If a human does genetic experiments to themselves with the parts of a monster, are they still a human? What makes a human? The plot is that the MC suffered many injustices before regressing with a mysterious system. And don't be alarmed, this isn't an omnipotent system that's been pulled from the ass of the author, but there's a moderately reasonable explanation for it. MC also doesn't have all the memories of his first time. Author says it's because the amount of memories suddenly surging into MCs brain would make it go boom, or something. I can understand with my limited IQ. Anyways in the future, dragon city and humanity takes multiple huge L's. MC doesn't like that, and MC family pretty much dies in the future too. MC tries his best with broken future memories, he's cautious, smart and reliable. Trying his best to protect his family, friends and humanity. However, MC has a personality problem, since he has two lives of memories, he is sometimes like a coldblooded killer and sometimes a naïve teen. It makes sense in the later chapters. You'll get annoying with MC's naïve views, but it gets better. The world is filled with violence and plots. Who is the enemy? No one knows. This is what MC has to find out, and save humanity. But what if the enemy was humanity?
