i love the story line and characters specially mc. And it's not like that other characters are worse every character has its own uniqueness. I also like world building it's just that some are not described in detail (like power system mixup from other worlds and their comparison). i was searching for this kind of novel so I was brutally engaged with this novel. Overall good but I am still disappointed with the storyline.

The women surrounding Ling Ping'an are so annoying, especially that aunt of his, her wanting to get her niece a financee is not wrong but it became too much when she started impersonating him.

I am very biased towards this novel so maybe it's wise to take my words with a grain of salt. I like the premise of an op MC that has no idea that he's op. The world building and other stuff are very enjoyable to read, especially the way how the bookstore is connected to various other worlds. At some points the novel translation gets a bit poor and I guess the editor doesn't edit very well cause some mistakes are made that should be impossible to make, like constantly referring to the FEMALE cat goddess, Bastet as a he or a little guy(ik that this is a gender neutral term but the mistakes happen too often for me to think it's meant as one). I try to ignore the balant way how this books portrays China as the best place to be on Earth and how living there would be the absolute best. Other than those things this book is a very nice read.

this is the type of novel when read outside of China does more harm than good for the image of China. It confirms almost everything that racists have been saying about China and why China is dangerous to the rest of the world (in their opinion). Now don't get me wrong my image of the current China isn't very positive either but the world building in this novel basically shows how a radical Han Chinese thinks the world should look like. This goes as far as changing history, stealing concepts and ideas from other countries and put a Chinese stamp on it, etc. I don't believe every Chinese thinks like this but if a reader is not from China this novel could make them hate and fear China....

First 2 chapters are missing so that's fun... Interesting story though. Unfortunately the constant hunt for that sweet sweet social credit really pulls you out of the story.

Surprisingly good. Thought I would get some light evening reading and it ended up being a hidden gem. The main character is actually interesting (very rare trait in main characters in my opinion) and I love the scenes when someone visits his bookshop at night time. Mysterious and eerie vibes and the story is so interesting I just kept on reading late into night.

Guys, please don't read this novel. It is a complete rip-off of the original novel which is called 'I really am not the demon god's lackey'. This novel is a copy of that one in every way, and this novel just uses the original setting to make their own xenophobic, prejudiced views. Please read the original novel instead. It's much more interesting and well written.

There’s a manga about this concept and it seems to be better written than this. Just from the synopsis of which I only read for this book, I read the manga and it was and is great, don’t like the whole china takeover that has things like “he’s not simple” phrases so I’m not going to attempt to read this. Leaving it at 5 stars so I don’t ruin the ranking, tell me if it needs to be lower

Overall, I like it. A little similar to "I'm not the demon lord lackey". The mc is a little dumb sometimes. But he is a nice guy. I love it when the customers are afraid of mc.

I really like this novel very much but I rated this novel so bad just due to one reason. Chinese novels have one problem. And not all of them but most of them. They try to praise their country so much and degrade other countries even badly. Same for this novel. But it seems like that in this novel only their country is best rest all are waste - Beneath them. I just can't understand their confidence.

Interesting spin on the Lovecraftian horror, combined with Warhammer, Warcraft, Forgotten Realms and many more. Quite a enjoyable read overall, 4.2/5.0.

I do quite enjoy this novel. I like the concept of multiversal connections and such and the MC being oblivious to it all is hysterical. My only issue is how its a paid novel considering it blantly ripped off other novels/ games. Umbrella Corp. Tokyo Ghoul with their kagune Warhammer 40K Ect. I don't really care since it adds to the story decently however I dont know if it should be part of the fanfiction portion of the novel. I had this same thought with another novel that took place in a new world but he was able to travel to other fictions he summoned the main female lead of steins gate and the rail gun user from a certain magical index and traveled worlds collecting women and power. I just can't remember the name but that one had a lot heavier scent of fanfic but he still put it in the proper novel section. Much love to your book mate. I will obviously continue reading it. I just wanted to throw my thoughts out there

To give a very brief overview: The MC is an all-powerful super-being of some description that starts the story "asleep" and living the life of a mortal bookstore owner. The story begins just as his slow awakening process is starting. This is marked by occasionally at night a mysterious fog will descend and admit a (female) character from an alternate world who is in crisis to his bookstore. Then he will "sell" a book that happens to have some mystical power to resolve the crisis the girl is in to her, the girl will feel undyingly grateful and go back to fighting in her apocalyptic hellworld, and the MC will return to his mundane day to day. Meanwhile, all around him the ghosts and gods of his world are also slowly waking up and causing all sorts of tension which the various world governments are trying to hide. All this punctuated by occasional turns into blatent plagiarism (a great deal gets lifted from Warhammer 40k and there's even a whole arc lifted from Alien VS Predator, the 2004 film) using the infinite multiverse setting as an excuse. I'll say up front that I read up to chapter 450 before dropping this. Anyway, here's my review: I like this book. I find the "super powerful person who is unaware of his strength" premise fun to read. Also, the plot-line in the "main world" where all the various gods and deities (for example, there's an archangel awake in Europe who is trying to awaken the Christian "God" in the west, as well as a bunch of splinter factions waking up Norse/Greek/Roman gods) from our world are slowly waking up and battling each other for mortal faith is interesting and fun to think about. I felt like the author did a pretty good job of writing a main character who is struggling and confused as the beast inside of him slowly wakes up, which is a point in the book's favor. And the long-running plot thread where the supernatural government agents of MCs country discover how immensely powerful he is and spend a bunch of time overanalyzing everything and trying to curry favor with him are also fun to read. MC seems to have some sort of magical visual perception blockers that completely prevent him from seeing any supernatural phenomenon, so all of his conversations with the government agents are filled with misunderstandings and that keeps the plot rolling in interesting directions. Now for the parts I didn't like. First of all, it's been mentioned, but the nationalism in this book is a bit overwhelming. Basically, the "Federal Empire" (the clear China proxy) is perfect, infallible, and amazing in every way. Every other southeast Asian country wants to join them but, of course, the Federal Empire rejects their pleas. Meanwhile, all the western countries are cartoonishly evil and western characters have thoughts like "I really don't understand why the Federal Empire insists on treating these filthy commoners like equals to us, the elite." In fact, it's so bad that I honestly just started skimming the next five paragraphs whenever I saw any paragraph that started out with a sentence singing praises for the Federal Empire. I just have to emphasize that an absurd percentage of the overall wordcount in this book is dedicated to talking about how great China is and if you want to read it I highly recommend skimming. But I could handle that. Chinese nationalism isn't really a deal-breaker for me when I'm reading Chinese novels. The thing that broke me in the end is the one thing I gave a 1 star in the review categories: The translation itself. This book was translated with very little care. Starting from the very beginning, where the first two chapters simply aren't there and "Chapter 1" here on Webnovel is actually "Chapter 3" in the raws, I knew that things were looking bad. The first 50 chapters or so were translated decently, but after a point it just goes downhill and never recovers. When it gets bad the translators are completely unable to keep characters names straight (for example, there is a character who has been in the book since chapter 1 but it's a 50/50 shot if the translators will actually put her name or put "thousand night sauce" which is presumably what the MTL software spits out). There are idioms (like "even if it's a small mountain, if it has an immortal on it, it's an immortal mountain; even if it's a shallow river, if it has a dragon in it, it's a divine river) which get translated properly in early chapters and then absolutely butchered in later chapters. And, of course, there's the usual complete inability to keep any pronoun straight. In short, the later chapters are really obviously just machine translated and then edited (but not edited very much) and, considering all the ghosts and gods in the story it means that there are a bunch of literary terminologies that MTL software can't really translate properly, coupled with all the made-up fake names for every country, it leads to pretty much zero proper nouns being translated properly and a lot of chapters just being complete word salad. That aside, it's just clearly zero effort in too many places to overlook. MC has a cat that is with him since like chapter 5. It's a female cat. The translators have MC refer to it as him/"little boy" over and over again over the course of hundreds of chapters. This is clearly just laziness and/or the translator not being at all familiar with the story they are translating, and there are a LOT of mistakes on this level that crop up continuously. So, read at your own risk. If you do read, be ready to do a great deal of mental corrections for the constant deluge of typos and mistranslations in almost every single chapter. If you can look past that though, it's a pretty good story.

Finally finished reading. Foreword: I started reading this book thanks to "I'm Really Not The Demon God's Lackey", since it is one of my favorite stories and they told me that this book was practically the "father" and was very similar. I thank the author of this book, as probably without this story there would never have been "I'm Really Not The Demon God's Lackey". But now let's start that real review. The story starts well, simple, fun and good characters. When the world of the "game" started it continued to be excellent, but by the second access to the game, I started to lose interest. I don't like the fact that he used another character, making the monk useless (first character). However, the story remained pleasant, even if the customers of the library will become more and more useless and we could very well skip these chapters (the useless customers, those considered secondary characters). Normally when an MC op reveals itself after a long time, it is one of the coolest things to read / see. Reading about the reactions of the characters close to the protagonist and things like that is fantastic. But here is one of the ugliest things I've ever read. When he reveals himself for who he really is, it starts to turn into a bad story. MC who wants to have children with more women, reactions of the characters close to him (aunt) practically nothing, final written in a hurry and that does not close anything, in short, it is a shame. Despite the good amount of good chapters, I don't feel like recommending the book, as it is very disappointing.

Honestly, this book is so dumb, racist and just stupid. It's a rip off compared to I'm Really not the Demon God's Lackey. Please read the novel, it's so much better than what I have just read, I now need to bleach my eyes to recover from this horrendous novel.

I absolutely adore this store. The way the author weave the games, movies, etc. in this story is truly fantastic. :) In the fanwai, I hope the author introduced all of mc's children. There were only 3 children that were mentioned: the son of zheng manjing, the daughter of sylvanas and the invisible son whose mother i don't know.. p.s. Terrible translation, changing terms and genders on a whim, racist and nationalistic at every chance they get, the idea is the only redeeming point but that loses its value quickly when overwhelmed by the bad translation and pointless nationalism and racism.

This is like i am a cultivation bigshot but with chinese nationalism which is not great it is the same but worst in everyway i am a cultivation bigshot was already not that good.
