Review based off 124 chapters read of the translation, and complete 487 chapters of the full story via machine translation. I've read quite a few chinese Marvel fics and I have to say, this is definitely one of the better ones. Probably in my top 3. There is also no blatant racism or chinese propaganda.
It's also a crossover fic for those who might be interested to know. I mean, besides just being "Superman in Marvel". The MC, Luke, will crossover into not only different Marvel universes but also Watchman and several DC universes. It might be handy to know this before you get too invested because if you only have knowledge of the MCU you might get a little confused down the line.
The MC is... unbelievably a pretty good person. While he might be more gray area than a traditional comic hero, especially compared to the OG Superman, as far as Marvel fics go he's practically a shining beacon. Maybe my perspective is just warped from reading so many MC's being frankly a lot more sociopathic or just plain psychotic.
Now the story itself has its up and downs. It does a lot of things a little differently from what I'm used to seeing. For example the MC starts at the same time as Captain America but instead of either of them going on ice they actually stay. So he actually pushed things forward a bit by introducing tech advances and ideas that would had otherwise come about in the next generation. Such as putting forward the ironman suit idea to Howard to see if he could make it, and even establishing SHIELD much earlier.
The only real complaint I had with the story was that probably from chapter 200+ it begins to feel a bit... rushed I guess. That may not be the best way to describe it but there are a lot of small story elements that come up, plots that happen and seem to build up to something... only to then be basically never really touched upon again.
like for example we hear that he's putting together this magic congress... but after putting all the pieces in place it all becomes background noise. We don't ever see it nor does it play any further role in the story. All the build up for only to get no real satisfying conclusion. There are a lot of moments like this where the MC gathers something with implied intentions... but we never see what it ultimately leads to.
I feel like the author might had wrote himself into a corner and just ran out of ways to make the story interesting so he just rushed to tidy up an ending to call it a day. The reason I think that is because after a certain point in the story the MC has stacked so many Superman templates ontop of each other that he is basically a god who can punch through dimensions.
Despite my complaints I did enjoy the story.
(I have reposted this review several times. Between WebNovel inexplicably destroying the formatting and making this a giant wall of text instead of including my spacing, or just not showing my review to public eyes for some reason I'm frankly done trying to fight with it. Hopefully the stars still count for something.)
Really annoying to get a half dozen messages from people I have never met telling me to come read this on my other writing platform accounts. I get wanting people to read your work but that is just annoying and makes me not want to read at all.
i am writing this after fully reading this work at the end I can say that it was worth the time i gave to read it in between it becomes a little slow but as a whole it was a great read if you want to read an awesome story about an actually powering up superman than this can also be your piece of cake
This is good, but after certain chapter. The sorry feels rushed.
I rarely leave review but seeing some people comment, I just know the can’t read and leave the book a bad review.
(This book is translation btw)
At the beginning the plot was fine, especially because I like the idea that the protagonist has Superman's powers, but when I discovered that all the chapters of the entire novel were focused only between World War II and the beginning of What it happens then I realized it wasn't for me anymore. I thought he was going to write a story about fighting Tano and the usual stuff, not this one.
It's my favorite fanfiction Thanks for good fiction
And can i get your contect? I'm Thai and i really like this fiction so i would like to translate this fiction to Thai for fan of these two movies. Please [img=recommend]
Уныло, ужасно скучный фанфик.текст растянут и в главах очень много воды и мало самого сюжета, так скучно что на 18 главе уже хочется спать. Разочарование 😣😣😣
Really had to forced myself to push through italy arc but it got alittle better for while but after the red skull death, author went crazy and starts introudcing superman level mob army with odin blood or something and there were chapter after chapter worth of filler, its like for every 1 real plot there are 20+ people just thinking, talking in the middle of battle, or just right out doing nothing.. its the most mindnumbing writing i've seen in a long time. 1 good chapter between 20 chapter of bloodboilingly frustrating and boring is not worth it imo.
Great book , excellent writing quality . Fights were not as impactful as the could of been , but all rounder great comedy , great interpersonal relationships and characters .
Read till 80 chaps.
it's not a good novel imo. The start is strong, you're curious about how the entire double super soldier, one being ssuperman will go. But it quickly becomes clear, there's no substance.
Cap America is sidelined to an npc, he's no longer the war hero.
The writing quality is subpar, especially the dialogues, it feels like a badly translated Chinese novel.
The novel has an identity crisis. Sometimes it's like a Chinese modern mc face slapping everybody and trying to create hidden gangstas, getting women with no personality and other times it's a bad rendition of a superhero.
The story also doesn't rely on narrative, the simple power of mc being superman, growing with time would have been a good enough thing but no, he also has a gacha which gives him dc powers. I don't have novels like that, but they have a particular casual atmosphere. This novel here doesn't match with that. It feels out of place.
The mc has no personality and the timeline is also pretty messed up, i don't like different takes on the original timeline. but the one here imo leaves a sour taste on your mouth. why? because here the author uplifts the mc by trampling on character u like. like captain America.
people read fanfics to see their favourite heroes in different settings. when u trample said characters to make your own mc better, it takes the joy out of the fanfic.
I wouldn't recommend this novel unless u have nothing to read.
this is one of my favorite superman novel now... even though its Chinese... MTL but not bad at all... easily readable. the ending could've been better... I'm gonna miss this.
Definitely a story worth reading in my opinion. The language/translation is not the best which made me quit reading the first time finding this series, gave it another shot and i'm glad i did. Solid main character (Heny Cavil *winkwink*), with an interesting upgrade system. The Mc makes his own way in the world so you won't be to bored with it following cannon etc. There is Crossovers between DC and Marvel happening later in the series to which i found great. Cheers.
A story to pass the time, another excellent story
