TLDR: This is one of the best novels I have ever read. If you are comfortable with all of the tags on this book, I strongly urge you to read it as well.
Long Version: At 501 chapters as of reviewing this work, this is one of the best written, planned, and executed novels I have ever read. While action, systems, magic, abilities, romance, love, and harems can be difficult to write well this is a master craft in not only exectuing all of them, but combining them into a tale that is funny, heartwarming, fear inducing, and constantly evolving. The 18+ sections and potentially traumatic sections are marked well so that people not interested can skip them without missing too much context, while used effectively to inform the reader about characters moral such as those who do and do not ask for consent in romantic and sexual moments.
The characters are rich and three dimensional, ever character of importance has goals, dreams, and acts based upon them rather than being only plot devices. It feels like a developed world that we are just following this protagonist through. Each battle has a purpose, every person has a role to play, however short, and theg come together to create a story unlike any I have read.
The fights, abilities, and system are some of the best as well. They make sense in context of use, fights are one by picking good strategies and taking risks as necessary. Growth is observed Often through battles as well as time skips to center on the most important moments.
This is to the stories credit, as some novels feel extra long to make more money when barely anything happens or changes from the readers perspective. This novel has every word count, they all are important to the story whether for laughs, or to inspire awe. I have never felt that my money was spent for nothing. However that does not mean that the author barrels through things, rather they take their time at the moments that matter, and allow characters room to breathe, grow, and understand their relationships.
There are very few novels I have read throughout my life that I hold this esteem for, and most of them are fantasy classics. If after reading this review you are still unsure I urge you to at least try the free chapters, and see if it is for you. I truly hope you enjoy this book, and that you grow to love it just as much as I do.
I will be sure to update this every 500 chapters or so as long as I am reading. Thank you, author, for this book, and looking forward to reading more!
Review after reading 1400+ chapters...nonstop...kekekekek....
Disclaimer: It really is addicting just like the author says.
I stopped reading other novels just so that i could catch up with this novel and man....i gotta admit that it was worth it. I am looking forward to next chapters author-san. Seems like this novel is ending which makes me sad cuz i'm gonna miss them(William and his group).
I wish Author-san would write their next generations as well.
While there was a time or two during the reading of this book where I wanted to put the book down and never come back to it, the author did pull it through in the end. So if you get mad at the author, persevere and read through till the end. This is a good epic fantasy story, that is a roller coaster ride from time to time. If you like heroic adventures, this is a story for you.
I love this novel it has a lot of comedy that will complete your day but the ending feels a little bit lacking but I still love it....................................
Very satisfied with this story, and very grateful that the author focused on the ending being as complete as possible. Already rewarding to have such an extensive series of “afterwards” stories, but I’d take another 100 chapters of just slice of life in the afterwards.
Thank you to the author for dedication and passion to making this through to the end!
As Eylons first book in his universe, you enter a realm of amazing writing and world building. He takes you in immense ups and downs. I personally have comments about dropping the book or finding him and torturing him if certain events happen. He keeps his promises, and you stay on the edge of your seat with his story.
I really enjoy this type of story. Thank you for letting me waste time and read instead of doing productive things. I will take all the chapters please. Don't stop updating them!
my first read and i love it so much and i dont' regret spending sleepless nights reading this love how the author bring emotions in me that helps me cope with my current circumstances in life.
Completed the whole novel... It's been a while since I had so much fun, The novel was quite fast paced but I liked it. Overall the ending, is the best ending I have ever read (author you have achieved of what you wanted).
Just read it, you would love it.
Bye Truck-kun is behind me, I need to run away rn!
I am always fascinated with novel such as RWTSS, thank you for bringing one of the best novel! Reading this will make you smile, laugh, pout, tear, and shed other emotions. Really great novel to read. MANY THANKS Eldon!
well the story got me emotionally invested, I loved all easter eggs, the only drawback is that becouse of how many heroines there all a lot of them got really little screen time.
**Genres:**
As an aficionado of well-crafted tales involving reincarnation, transmigration, and regression, I confess that my literary taste has matured faster than fine wine. No longer in the throes of teenage hormonal chaos, I harbor a genuine aversion to the harem genre.
Now, diving into this narrative with a blank slate, the initial setup presented a robust foundation. It may not have unraveled all its mysteries in the first chapter, but that was a deliberate authorial tease, leaving loose ends to be expertly woven into a splendid narrative knot later on.
**Characters:**
In the grand tapestry of characters, despite the overpowering narcissism of our main character, they all find their place, occasionally swooping in to save the day. From gods to humans to magical beasts, the diversity in personalities avoids the jarring monotony often seen elsewhere.
**Plot:**
The plot, akin to a delicately woven Persian rug, unfolds with finesse. The invasion of the Hellen Kingdom arc, replete with political intricacies, was a delight. Our MC's navigation through the storm of success, occasionally tripping on unforeseen obstacles, adds a delightful flavor. The stakes are high, but not high enough to induce the kind of stress that prompts one to abandon ship.
**Power System:**
I must applaud the three deities and their powers, especially the shepherd job class with its delightful intricacies. Who needs to be a run-of-the-mill Necromancer when you can lead a battalion of battle-ready goats? The fleshed-out powers of the supporting characters further add to the intrigue.
**World Building:**
This novel boasts one of the most meticulously crafted worlds I've encountered. The interweaving of politics and history among mortals and immortals lends it a depth akin to an intellectual abyss. Each square inch of this literary expanse feels as crucial as the next, making every geographical nook and cranny pulsate with importance.
**The Dreaded Harem Trope:**
Alas, here lies the proverbial fly in the ointment—the harem trope. It sends shivers down my spine. Despite the myriad elements that check all my boxes, the appearance of the harem genre feels akin to an unexpected jump scare. The desire of the MC to have a veritable harem of nine wives is, frankly, preposterous. How these continental beauties agree to such an arrangement is a mystery that eludes my comprehension.
The first lover, Wendy, nonchalantly declares, "As long as I am the first wife, I don't mind." Now, call me old-fashioned, but this arrangement strikes me as odd and entirely incomprehensible. The concept of desiring multiple partners remains an enigma I cannot fathom. Moreover, the inclusion of lovers with unique gender circumstances adds another layer of perplexity, leaving a less-than-ideal aftertaste in my literary palate.
In conclusion, despite these quibbles, the novel manages to weave a compelling narrative, proving that even a dreaded harem can't completely tarnish the brilliance of its other facets.
I’d say it’s pretty good, not too generic but of course every pretty woman is an eventual lover, the author does a pretty interesting thing where he has the nicest bad guys I’ve ever seen, the doomsday cults keep their promises, the undead help the living etc.
