Slow and steady, Firecracker sets up an interesting world that's easy to envy not being in!
Characters are slowly coming into their own more, and things have just started to pick up in the most recent chapter at the time. Descriptions are good, dialogue is easy to follow and the world feels real.
The author is clearly focused on the intricacies of the world and the science counterpart that fuels it. Lots still left to learn, as it feels like only the tip of the iceberg has been revealed in terms of how crazy things can get.
Overall, it's far from kicking into an insane plot but it's a promising start, that I can't wait to see more of!
First of all, I love the title and the cover. If I saw it at a bookstore I would def pick it up.
The world-building is amazing! It's the perfect choice to introduce the protagonist as a child (a literal infant, even), learning alongside his brother and adoptive mother. This way, the readers are immersed through experience and not simply through an info dump. My gripe about children in fantasy novels is when they don't act like children, but this story doesn't have that problem.
If I am to comment on one thing, it's the lack of punctuation (commas and/or periods) between dialogue, but it's nothing to sweat about. The rest of the characters are well-developed, with their own personalities and motivation, making this story an easy read.
Overall, this story is great for fantasy nerds that craves for that slice of life in between action and solid science-magic rules.
What immediately got my attention was the rich and excellent world-building. The magic system is intricate and well thought-out, and it made me want to jump in the novel and experience it myself XD
Characters are also fleshed out and their personalities are also realistic which makes them relatable.
But probably the most gripping thing for me in this novel was the writing style. I absolutely adored the author's descriptions; it was simply fantastic and I could imagine it in my head easily. Very imaginative, and as for grammar and punctuation, no obvious mistakes.
Overall if you want to indulge in a fantastical world with rich lore, this novel is for you. I do think that it progresses a bit slow, but that's only my personal preference.
Keep it up, author! This is a real gem.
Interesting synopsis- check
beautiful cover- check
fantastic world building - check
The flow between dialogues and actions is smooth and the descriptions are very well done
I have to confess that I have a weakness for medieval stories, especially this one. Good story, great characters with unique personalities. And the fantasy plot is very well explored by the author.
This is a wonderful world that you created! You definitely set quite a high bar when it comes to the characters' personalities and the worldbuilding.
Right off the bat, I was hooked by the way you described everything, especially Aurelia and Lara's interaction in the prologue. The sheer detail that you put into constructing this story can't be emphasized more.
My one critique is the lack of action in the beginning, but that is more of a personal preference. I feel that if you had started off with a bang, it would have increased my overall investment with the story. Unfortunately, it's been quite a while since you first published the prologue, so I don't know if you would be willing to change anything.
After further reading (I haven't read your entire novel), I can already feel the tensions brewing. I'm sure that it will get more and more exciting as the plot progresses. Keep up the good work!
The characters are relatable and you do a really good job setting the pace, easing us into your world instead of immediately dropping us there. Good luck with your writing!
What can I say but THIS IS SO FREAKING GOOD. There are a lot of mixing emotions at the first part, and well-written lines. You "SHOWED' not "TELL" the audience, so 1000/1000 for you, author! <3 Cheers!
The story development of this book is slow but even at that, this book is perfect. Nice words by the author to protary each action. The words as relatable which is actually very good. Nice work author.
It's like those books, if you have read the series, The Stormbringer. It's slow yeah but like an iron pillar where you don't get to make holes like the wodden ones. The plot is thickening. What do you want in these few chaps. The Stormbringer I mentioned above you should goggle it not here in webnovel.
