lightning is the only way and sword god in a magic world ar 2 of my favorite storys especially the former, i have read that one cover to cover twice and i have started the 3de. I love how extensive the power system is in both absolutely perfect world bulding in my eyes.
I haven't given it a review yet? Time to change that. The beginning was pretty mid, but then it got better and better. The ending was pretty weird. Overall it was very good. It still deserves a sequel because the ending has potential. But knowing the author, there will never be a sequel.
One of the best works I've read on webnovel so far! I've followed it as author launched, and recently I've re-read it. It was amazing both times! Would totally read again
one of the first few novels i read , it was somewhat like a rollercoaster (i have never been on a rollercoaster before so i don't know but the phrase seemed right ). when i first got into it the writing style seemed so weird and there no paragraphs at all , Just for reference - the first novel i read was crime and punishment and the paragraphs lasted maybe the entire page. but here its like this i got used to it eventually though . then there is the scaling of distance and height ,like how do i imagine a bull whose leg is many time bigger than Mt EVEREST but compared to the trauma and then the subsequent torture , it was nothing . anyways enough about the bad stuff now time for the GOOD STUFF -> 1. world building is AMAZING and so is the little lore drops here and there , ex -in one chapter he explained how a focus was made step by step and which noone actually asked for but it helps me understand that the world has some history follows logic and i still somewhat remember it -pretty cool 2. time skips and growth of the world it fells natural and not forced when something new happens in the world and when mc trains (ignoring the questionable samity of the mc) the time should are soooo Smooth and the fine details are never ignored but they also don't seem like something extra and waste of words but rather tell us that the world is not only changed by an individual rather a group is always needed (still ignoring the mc ) 3. Fights awesome -unlike a certain GUILTY author who likes to use the word "harrowing" and "terrifying" for every single fight - here the fights feel like there are literally people on the other side and thinking like how people should think in a life or death situation even the whole- "mages are too op " theme seems natural since people are too afraid to choose any other pathway because it will only lead to a dead end of they would suffer an early death. there are actually a lot more things I wish to say but i want to get this out of the way as soon as possible-i have read this entire novel on a pirated site and because i now want to support the authors work i will read everything else on webnovel only and support the author whatever way i can . now I hope that whatever i have written here will help other readers in picking up this book , it has been an amazing read -it has even taught me quite a lot of things about sacrifices , morality , life goals and also made me feel quite a bit of emotion . i love this novel And i hope you will love it too

very good story especially time skips, they are handled very well. the only thing I hate is how depressing the story became the further we got. but overall I do say this novel is the best "sword" focused novel I have read
Review: Why You Should Definitely Read This Novel I’ve read countless novels with a similar or even greater word count. Some were good, others not so much, and to be honest, I can’t even remember how many I’ve read. As someone who spends hours reading every single day, I can confidently say this book is truly worth reading. So, what does this book offer you? I don’t believe what I’m about to share contains spoilers, but it’s your responsibility if you continue reading. First, we see how an ordinary person starts a quest for power, then struggles to survive, faces conflicts in social relationships, and eventually becomes indifferent to other beings. Throughout all of this, every motivation and cause behind these changes is conveyed brilliantly to the reader. It truly feels like a living piece of fiction. Alongside this, we are introduced to a world that serves as a great introduction to a larger universe, in my opinion. The main character and the world-building are essentially excellent material for the author’s other books. I believe the author may write several different novels, eventually merging them into a final book set in a grander universe. The novel is outstanding, but the author is even more so—I’d prefer to rate the author rather than the book. My rating for the author is a solid 10/10.
The mc's personality is not understandable at all, if he at least had a reason for sacrificing everything for power, than I could at least somewhat relate to his thought process. You can argue that everyone has different goals and thought processes etc. But I think he is not thinking like a human at all. I can understand the motives of other characters, and I liked a lot of them. The general plot and the world building was good too, so I read on, but the moment he killed Jerald I didn't want to read anymore. I think he is just too much of a psycho at that point.

This was one of my favorite books, the characters are amazing, the world building is good, the progression of the MC was perfect.But the ending is the worst thing that ever happened in the book, its so bad that I literally can't enjoy the book anymore.The mc was shang from the beginning and then the author seemingly wants us to like Alex? Horrible the worst ending possible, hope there is no next book after that

Good read but too many pages wasted explaining battle mechanics that could be condensed to one line
Only read this after fully published so can’t speak to uploads and all that but from what I know it was very consistent. If you have read litow this is a very similar universe yet still manages to be incredibly unique and interesting throughout the story with much higher peaks of storytelling/emotions/twists. 9.7/10.

Definitely different! The creativity is there. World building is pretty outstanding. Don't get discouraged by the maths, I'd still recommendreading it. The main character is very one sighted but the ending kind of made up for that and the twists were pretty awesome. All and all, worth a read.
I had this book for some time in my library already and Im glad I've finally read it. Now I only have a question to the Author if youre planning to write a sequel in which Alex is Mc, not Shang.

i honestly love the the power system, the characters and even the interesting world that offers a lot to explore but I just can't come to terms with the unnecessary amount of tragedy just so MC suffers more. I've read about 550 chapters and this is honestly just too much. MC starts to kill because of the tiniest reasons.
What a great novel! I don't like the ending but this novel almost has no boring chapters. It was entertaining to read. If only the ending is good...
I finished this a while ago but I figured I’d leave a review. My only complaint that I had was small continuity errors like a side character having no element but then retconned to having earth and retconned again to be metal. But these changes were pretty far apart and honestly not impactful to the story whatsoever. At times I felt like the mc’s personality was a little off but then the ending up making everything make sense. So overall a 10/10

The wrost ending ever. If you wanted to end it like that then why did you make the mc behave like it in the first place. Totally disappointed with the ending. If you leave that thing aside then the novel is pretty good read even though it has some flaws which can be ignored.
The sword god's development was very interesting. The story is worth reading to the end!

This is the first novel I’ve ever read. The most noticeable problem I’ve had with it was the time skips, I understand that it was made to showcase the gravity of things, but i think it could’ve been made better. The world background for me was perfectly showcased, and the explainations were mostly great with some hiccups. I can confidently say that this novel is worth a read.
The best novel overall in webnovel by far, especially since I like anti-hero and villain main characters that are designed just so good. Shang is most literally a well designed character and the plot is well thought out too, after this I am reading LITOW. THIS NOVEL IS FIRE!
Five stars because I like my story. Welcome to my second novel! I already wrote and (nearly, depending on when you read this) finished my first novel Lightning Is the only Way at over 1300 chapters. There have been some mistakes in my first novel since it was, well, my first novel. This one is my second novel, and I rectified those mistakes. When I write, I mainly focus on emotions. It doesn't matter which one, power, loss, depression, happiness, whatever. I believe novels have to evoke emotions in the reader, and that's what I focus on. You can give me whatever feedback you want, as long as it's actual feedback. Have fun reading!
