Chapter 47: Help from the Quasiverse

Joshua and Doreen charge out towards the wasps first, both with their weapons drawn and ready to attack. They started swiping at the wasps as the insects tried to stab them with their massive stingers. The insects had hard exoskeletons, but they were not hard enough to stop their blades.

With each swing they would cut a wasp in two and to not waste a motion as they would raise their blade, they would strike another. It reminded Joshua of an old app game he used to play when he was procrastinating at work. Only instead of slashing fruit it was massive wasps that wanted to murder him.

Fireballs whirled around them as Lucy let out a barrage of the fiery blasts. Sometimes a fireball would connect with a wasp just as one of their swords cleaved into it. When that happened, their insides would be rapidly exposed to the increased temperature, and they would explode in a small area.

Each small explosion would shock the nearby wasps and cause them to lose their ability to fly.
