I liked your characters, especially your protagonist. He's not your typical righteous hero. He behaves more like an Antihero on various occasions, which makes him look more realistic. If you are tired of reading novels about villains who behave like jerks and classic heroes who forgive all their enemies, this novel is a good choice.
The twists and turns in the first few chapters alone had me reeling. A non-generic hero who kills the royal family in the first scene? Sign me up. Hoping our hero can stay on the straight and narrow... in all the right ways.
