If asked to describe Derek Haven, there were many words that Emily could use. She could use determined, hard-working, stubborn, intelligent...

But if she were asked to describe Derek as a lover, before the two of them made love. Emily would have given answers from the top of her head. Basing them on how Derek behaved on a regular basis.

In giving those answers she would have been very wrong.

When it came to being intimate together. Emily had been of the mind that Derek would be selfish in some ways. That just as he was used to being given whatever he wanted, at the snap of a finger. He would treat sex the same way. That he would take his own pleasure, before hers. 

Never in her life had Emily been so glad to be wrong about someone's character.

Hours after her and Derek's first time together. Emily lay in bed staring up at the ceiling. Next to her, Derek was fast asleep, his soft snores filling the room.
