"W-what are you doing?" My voice betrayed me, coming out in a whisper. Why did he always create these awkward tense moments? And why, why did I always fall for them?

His eyes bore into mine, his face so close that I could feel the warmth radiating from him. He licked his lips, the movement drawing my gaze, and when he spoke, his voice was a low, dangerous rumble. "I just wanted to ask . . ."

My breath hitched as he leaned in closer, the faint scent of soap and something distinctly him filling the space between us.

"What do you want to eat first?" he murmured, his lips brushing the shell of my ear as he added, "The food . . . or me?"
