I came upon this novel by chance. I was browsing for books that are generally in the Eastern Fantasy genre. When I read the prologue, I got engrossed right away and lucky for me, I was able to read the whole book for free because it was on a free-trial period for 24 hours. (I found a loophole to utilize the free chapters even when 24 hours are over. Sorry about that.) To be honest, amongst the many books that I've read so far, this one belongs to my Top 3. I would like to commend the author for this amazing storyline, for taking me to a world full of wonders. I felt like I lived through countless epochs and I got so engrossed with each chapter that I often forgot the passage of time. I would even find myself so hungry just by reading a few chapters for hours. I had a wonderful experience reading this novel. I hope the author will write more amazing stories and take us readers to more worlds of wonder and adventure. Good job, fellow daoist Er Gen. β™₯️

Amazing novel. I have read ISSTH and AWE from the same author before and I was looking for a more serious cultivation novel with mystery involved and was recommended this. I have read 650 chapters so far and in my opinion, it is one of the most engaging chinese cultivation novels.

I can't help but give it 5 stars. Just finished reading it and I don't know what to feel. It's been such a long and fulfilling ride reading this book I feel that bit of emptiness when you finish a really good book. Like every Xianxia, it has its great moments, and its relatively boring moments. But the overall feeling of it is unparallel. This 100% a tragedy, where the MC is dragged through painful experience after painful experience as he grows and loves. Amazing character development and introspection for both the MC and the supportive cast. As some of my fellow readers (and the author) have said, there's a part in the middle you might have to power through. But it has some really great moments that make it all worth it in my opinion.

Abyss builders was a stupendously great endeavour but it could've been better. MC is very passive most of the time. too emotional to my liking. dude literally forsake a perfect foundation of power to keep a scar. But better than most cultivation novels including other ergen works

Su ming’s journey to take control of his fate and find the truth of the world was one of my favourite er gen novel experiences. I can’t recommend it enough.

If you have read "Renegade Immortal" or "I Shall Seal the Heavens" then you should read this book. The mc gets screwed over and over again but still manages to not be broken.

My most favorite Er Gen novel in existence--and yes, i've read ISSTH, RI, AWE, AWWP but honestly, for me, nothing could compare to this work. I absolutely loved Su Ming as a character and how he grew throughout the series. I also loved most of the cast, and I think that Er Gen did the main villains justice, despite my searing hatred for what they've done. I enjoyed every book--though I felt that the berserkers vs immortals part in book 3 was kind of dragged out, but I also think that books 5-6 are what really hit me the most. Recalling it now, my heart hurts again.

4 stars.... but 2 stars for the the main character. Wish washy. Cant decide if he is determined to get strength or not. His whole path in cultivation can be summed up as. "I want something but I dont want to sacrifice and actually go the distance to get it. Oh yay the thing in the distance came to me." Gen Er had the writing moment where character development happened. But the strong character changes and growth was repeatedly put in place than talent away. This is to the point were you can see the tease coming of the MC truly becoming a improved version and then deciding not to, because 'LIviNg iN a DrEam iS fUn!'. So while the story beats are there the author doesnt decide to hit them. BUT when it comes to Eastern Fantasy. This is better than alot/most of the trash out there.

Slightly above average Xianxia. Not as good as Dr Gens other works. Suffers from being far too slow to get to the point. The characters are pretty predictable.

OMG ! there are some stories ,MC go through mentally defeated ,as even stories progress! you will find it some stage it's going to be OK, like If you read God Emperor you will know what I'm saying??? MC be like who am I, why am I ,why me?? ? if you read MC point of you it really gets you only negative stays in your mind! it's very good quality stuff this novel !but I dropped after 800+ Chapter , like I dropped God emperor after 700+ ! MC deserves mental peace even though it's story !

Much enjoying this one. Excellent translation, classic Er Gen cultivation novel, stays true to the genre while being interesting, unique, and even poetic and contemplative at times. Highly recommended.

I would really recommend this novel to many people, however this is not for everyone. Translations can be a bit sloppy but generally its very good. This novel focus a lot in story, development, beliefs and philosophy I guess. Don't expect a really flashy MC or fights like that. It has great fights but its story and development is its best selling point. However the story can be...quite messy in order and it. You will have to be patient on that. The beginning is weak the best parts start and the middle to end of the Story.

At the time of this review I've read 310 chapters. This novel lacks a coherent story, a sensible cultivation system, a meaningful setting and pretty much everything else. It feels like a random mash of the usual cliches (random mc OPness, random girls following mc, the random villain). Easily Er Gen's worst piece of work. Don't bother reading this as not only will it waste your time it will also leave you irritated. Consider yourself warned.

If you're here because this is an Er Gen novel, stop right there for a bit. Before it is an Er Gen novel, it is first and foremost a tragedy story. This should be a tag added to the novel a thousand times over. So even if you love Er Gen but don't like tragedy, you may find it hard to push through this one. That said, confession time. I came here because of Er Gen. I am NOT a fan of tragedy. And it was really hard to finish reading this novel. I don't consider myself a crybaby, but I broke down for who knows how many times while reading this novel. Even now, writing this review, I still feel myself tearing up whenever I think of our MC's life. πŸ˜–πŸ€§ In spite of (or maybe because of) above experience, I think this one is best out of the 3 Er Gen novels I've read so far (only missing the latest one). I know my review doesn't really say anything substantial, but I don't know what else to say about it. I do highly recommend it and hope new readers will make it through in better shape than me. Now excuse me please, I'm gonna go away and bawl my eyes out again. πŸ˜–

If you are a fan of the genre (wuxia/xianxia/faceslapping) or a newcomer to the whole novel culture, then this book is for you. It has an amazing world building, the translation quality is one of the best I've seen on this site and the skills really makes your imagination fly and you get to experience a style of writing without any bias. BUT, If you are neither the above, then don't even bother with this novel. Plot gets repetitive, MC is easy to predict, way too many huge timeskips and senseless powerups.

5.stars is deserved rate of this bok! If you're a first time reader, I will recommend you to read first the Renegade Immortal, and this is the second one, the third is I Shall Seal the Heavens and fourth one is A Will Eternal, all four of this book is completed and the fifth one is A World Worth Protecting, this book is still ongoing! Why did I recommend to read it at this sequence is bcz this five book have a connection to each other

After the Renegade Immortal, this is something interesting, when new races and other worlds appear. For fans of Er Gene, this is a new breath of air. And the beginning of a new incredible journey!
