great read, tough there are some things i didn't like about novel (mostly talking about the amount of tournaments throughout the novel) but beside that a great read nevertheless. this is probably my second favorite DD serie after DD4.

There are some conventions in translation that are not followed and tha may cause a weird feeling. One example is The Blue lightin tyrant dragon.
The stry uses the split eprsonality plot and there is an excessive focus on "back and forth" kind of three lives drama, if you watch chinese dramas you know the type of enemies lovers type thing.
In my opinion it has much filler, and many things change from 1 book to the next. Its 250+ hours long but plot goes back and forth.
If you have read SL2, this one is better but also has worst moments, and more of them.
Sometimes its hard to keep track when there are memories or illusions mixed with actual timeline.
Still SL1 is the best

depending on the translation read, it became a fluent, heroic epos in a fantasy world, i love to visit while escaping real life sorrows and hardships. i read this story in several versions and this was by far the best readable translation. i recommend reading Douluo Dalu 1, 2, 2.5 and 4 as well in that order to avoid to many spoilers, since those are both history and future of the characters in this story. On the sideline, there are some other stories that cross reference the main storyline here as well.

This story is simply outstanding. If you haven't read it somewhere else i don't think it really matters. The writing is one of the best (if not the #1 best). My vocabulary has been expanding consistently while reading. Although I have to google many phrases or words it is a great feeling, for me at least. And I learned English around 4-5 year of age. Characters and story is enticing. There are some moments that are like "Dragon Ball Z" in where a battle can stretch out long but it always comes around to make sense. I HIGHLY recommend.

So for me I became a fan of this book when I saw it on Light Reader. Beginning structure starts with the Introduction of key characters and even side characters. Tang Wulin, his foster parents, Nae'r were introduced with Tang Wulin as Mc. Weak to Strong very nicely adapted. Forging at the age of 6 very nice. Mang Tian introduced as his teacher. All characters introduced have roles is what I mean in general. Gradual opening of the world's background e.g Doulou Continent. The Shrek Seven Monsters were introduced. Xie Xie and Yuanen Yehui, Xu Lizhi and Ye Zinglan, Yu Zengyu and Xu Xiaoyan and Tang Wulin and Gu Yuena became couples literally. The romance is at a good pace and not rushed. Each hurdle is crossed with brute force or creative planning. Character development also very key here. To me the EQ was so on point it made my eyes bawl out after reading Gu Yuena's last speech as well as Tang Wulin's. Each stage of their lives have been clearly reiterated. The Holy Spirit Doulou Yali, The Light Dark Doulou Long Yeyue, Sky Ice Doulou Wu Zhangkong, The Atlas Doulou Yun Ming, Boundless Sea Doulou Chen Xinjie, all their pasts have been well projected toward the audience. So overall I love this Book including all the others of the Soul Land Series.

You are missing chapters. Chapter 120 is one example.Doesn't matter how good a novel or the translation is if there are missing chapters. Even some of those rip off alt sites have the chapter. Please look back through the raws and fix this.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the book a lot from the beginning and I loved the growth and development of the characters a lot. It wasn't just centered around the mc everyone was given a chance to be those own star and I liked that but I feel Tang Wulin deserves a better ending to be honest he really suffered and didn't get much out of it

I have read this series ever since the beginning. it doesn't rush and actually gives the characters stories & proper backgrounds. over 128 different full character backgrounds & developments. this is definitely one of my top 3 favorite series trilogies.

This novel irritated me so much.
The author has to remind me non stop that the MC is by no means talented and comes from a common family etc.
And no matter how many incredible power ups the MC gets, his friends etc always stay around his power level because plot armor.
Also the MC is incredible dense, for god sake.. when you are 13-15 years old you do know whats going on between men and woman.
Also, half of the story is filled with chapters about the MC eating so much and people reacting crazy to it + every fight there has to be paragraphs of golden dragon body transformation and dragon roar descriptions...
It's just boring to be honest.
There is a lot more irritating stuff like the stupid blacksmith chapters that are all more or less the same about him hammering alloys and shocking people about his young age and blacksmith star level.
TLDR: This story got massive plot armor with a dense MC and lots of repetitive writing. Boring side characters who all have there secrets and author reminds you of those things all the time but it takes hundreds if not thousands of chapters and hundreds of author reminders before you get an explanation.

As the 3rd installment of the Douluo Dalu or Soul Land series, this is probably the least exciting of the three. This isn't to say the story is bad by any means as the story on its own is very well done. If I had to point out something I didn't like, it'd be that there is an excessive amount of tournaments held in this book and it feels a little under whelming.
With that said I did really like the characters and development in the story. Another excellent work produced by this author.

Great book!! I'm only on chapter 120 or so but so far it is an amazing book. I highly recommend you read this story! I have already taken the the time to buy the first fifty chapters that are locked and they don't even start for another 100 chapters or so.
