Not going to lie, I stopped reading when I hit chapter 100+ thinking that it's as bad as RPS(Yes, I just compared them). But i was bitterly wrong now. The first half of the translation was crappy with how the names were being translated (I've written in detail in one of the comments, I'm too lazy to find it) Came back to try reading ahain(because why not). I don't like how RPS turn out because the ML disgusts me. But Red Envelope of Three Realms surprisingly has more class than the one in RPS. Definitely reccomend you guys to read because the story actually gets better when you read on.

I really enjoy urban fantasy novels, especially ones with a chat system. This particular one tries to be more comical than most, mc gets a "skill" that literally consists of just kicking people in the crotch, he makes super itching powder and puts it in a guy's underwear while he's in the bath so the guy literally scratches his d**k off, etc. Mc can sometimes be a real jerk out of nowhere, I feel like he's basically a self insert of the author, so when author is writing a chapter in a bad mood the mc goes around pissing people off, regardless of how jarring it is for the reader. It's a big power fantasy, really, mc quickly and easily gets all sorts of cultivation techniques, skills, and immortal treasures. Like sending spicy sticks and milk to gods and they just toss him an item that can defeat anyone in one hit or block any attack. This is kind of where the consistency falls apart though, he's got super high talent, off the chart techniques, the best cultivation path, all sorts of great things, but author still wants threats and ******* so nonsensical things happen left and right, he does the impossible and everyone thinks he's the best but then you find he's still behind x number of geniuses, then he surpasses them after a while and the power creep continues endlessly. Very first power he gets is future sight, but he just stops using it out of nowhere and it isn't brought up again for like 500 chapters until he has some thought about how it reduces his lifespan of whatever, sounds like author wrote himself into a corner and had to dig his way out. I think this story would benefit more from being like one punch man, he could retain being a badass and just focus on the comedy and drama, or have side characters be the ones facing danger, not inserting stupidity to force it to be both ways.

It's literally THE most chinese nationalist book I've ever seen, like the book itself it good, but there's so much chinese nationalism it actually sickens me, if they got rid of it, it would prob be one of my favorites, but almost every chinese author forces their nationalism into it, ruining their ideas and book. I'm not saying other countries dont do it, but they're much more subtle. Like they're literally saying, THE CHINESE ARE THE BEST, DOWN WITH THE AMERICANS, the book is so hypocritical and like every country does the same thing as America but this book is putting it as only america do experiments. Good idea, but chinese nationality ruined the book. Happened to other god books too.

So far, this is a good story. If I were to to talk about the biggest problems for me, it would be the women. In this story, they are desperately stupid, iq near 0, without logic and as clueless as a 3 years old child. I'm at chapter 1327 for now. And the worst for me would be Luo Puti. Her logic? : " huh? This place is deadly for the Mc? Plssssss bring me with you :3 because you know you might die alone, if I go with you maybe your chance to survive will be even less" I'm salty as hell first time I'm so mad against harem

The book is very interesting and I really loved it. The only problem that I really had was that the author was inconsistent. They would make multiple mistakes in terms of number.

This is probably one of the most funniest books I ever read. The mc is the best and the way he goes things are cool and funny. I give all my credit to the author for what they wrote.

Its bad. Nearly 500 in and It hasnt gotten better, only worse. Perhaps the most damning thing is the fucking nationalism. Nobody cares about politics. But of course the brainwashed author has to make Japan and Murica evil and most definitely make CHINA NUMBAH WON. Dunno how stupid author is but I dont remember any actual 3d characters or real growth. Mc is a paper cut out that just does whatever is needed for plot. Women have little to no personalities. I wanted to like this but theres no real plot,only face slapping and terrible politics. So much for a cultivation novel. Go red red packet server or cultivation chat group if you would rather spend your time usefully.

This story is interesting in the earlier chapter.. But after that is just a plot loop.. Mc meet new guy -> mc got underestimated -> mc plot armor kick in -> mc win -> repeat.. Yea.. i know.. a lot of chinese novel have this kind of plot loop.. But this trully boring.. I try to read till chapter 237.. if im not wrong.. in chapter when they have competition with japan student.. Its trully forced.. first the rule say that no maiming or something similiar.. but when 1st contestant from japan lost.. he suddenly got up and sneak attack the chinese student.. and stab him in the neck until blood come out.. And japan student declare as a winner.. How the heck that allowed.. that attack have an intent to kill.. if not because the mc.. that chinese student will die.. And they do the competition in chinese.. in mc school.. Its like wth.. are they all stupid? I just dont understand.. Well in conclusion.. Wow! This story is bad! This is a perfect story that showcase a reactionary main character! This story has no overarching goal unfortunately... Let’s start with the good: translation is actually good. It has less of the strange phrases or idioms that come from translating from Chinese. The world building is decent, but you need to know quite a bit about Chinese culture and their literature. I had to go investigate quite a bit so I could stay up to date with the story. The bad: everything else! Please allow me to elaborate! 1. Story: the premise is interesting. Since the MC receives gifts from Gods and demons from Chinese mythology and literatures. These gifts do come with a price so the system is not completely overpowered (mostly...) AND the MC does use the cheat system a lot. So why does the story fail? Because the MC is reactionary! He does NOT forge a path for himself using his cheat system. His story is pushed forwards by the actions of his enemies. In fact, at no point in the early chapters does the author tell the readers what the MC’s hopes and dreams are. No overarching objective(s) as I stated earlier. The other reason is that the author is VERY busy at adding filler chapters! This causes the story to be chaotic. Thus the pace is constantly been interrupted by filler content. And what angers me the most is that about 30 chapters in, the author gives the MC a gift that almost negates the cost associated with the divine gifts! 2. Main Character development: the story started out ok. The MC did not appear to be a bad guy at first. But with the gifts, and then the removal of the costs, he becomes insufferable! And since he flits from one disaster to the next, there is no incentive to grow since the gifts bail him out each time. There were many opportunities for the MC to grow in so many different ways, but the author fumbles each times! In fact, the author succeeded to make the MC become less charismatic! The excuse that he is young is pure sophistry! Many people of honor start out been good people at a young age, and adversity make them better. The MC gets worst as time pass by. In fact, he slowly becomes like the horrible protagonist of so many stories on this very website. Characters who are think “might is right.” So let me summarize the MC: arrogant, belligerent, spendthrift, unfaithful to whatever current love interests, selfish (all actions are calculate your how they benefit him), conman, thief, budding mafioso and slave owner (think brainwashing food.) 3. Secondary characters: like many many Chinese Webnovels, this story is trying to bury readers with secondary characters. Which means that each one barely gets any characters development. The MC’s friends: used to puff the MC up. The female characters: used to suggest potential harem (since the MC is trying to get under each one’s skirt). The enemies: are one dimensional and used for canon fodder (unless the author forget them as he is pumping out filler chapters.) For example: in the early chapters there was an enemy who murders many people, this would usually push the story intensity up one notch. But the author decides to delay that storyline and pump many many chapter of crap, including a transgender storyline with some gay bashing for laughs. 4. Cheat system: this one is interesting at first. Since the MC need to negotiate to get useful gifts. Gifts that would make the MC overpowered. And the gifts come with a price. But the system was wasted, since the author decided to give the MC a few objects that allow him to bypass that restriction. AND the MC uses the gifts only for his benefits (please read my summary of the MC’s personality traits.) And since this story is reactionary, the system is completely wasted. So overall, this story had a lot of potential. But it never had a chance because of bad story planning, bad character development and an overwhelming desire to add filler chapters. I advise you guys to give this story a pass.

This is painful. Nothing against whomever is working on this. It's just bad. The MC has no temperament. You literally have grade 10 god beast meat pies falling from the sky and the story doesn't get better. (This here will be my new signature, A bunch of authors seem to like to delete my reviews. Good novel overall, but always the same pattern. MC plays tough, villain and goonies mocks him + MC's friends try to dissuade him, and then MC slaps them. And the maths :o numbers keep changing from a chapter to another.

Pretty good story, thanks to the added information from the translator, even someone who doesn't know a thing about Chinese mythology, history, etc can still follow the story and interactions between characters. Still minus point for the overly detailed descriptions of characters that are wrote, again and again and again and again, but it's a trait shared by a lot of Asian novels.
