Write a reviewI don't normally write a review be it the best of the best books or if it's trash...but this one here is the exception...the idea is definitely great and sort of unique but the inconsistencies in this book and the overall viewpoint is beyond lackluster. Starting from the first chapter the plot holes appeared with the relationship between the two siblings...or rather now step siblings...then it's the fact that the author clearly states that this is a different world without the countries from earth so how the heck was the previous owner of the body studying Chinese history Not to mention author said its like a European setting even mentioning European buildings and all yet the high-school is Chinese name with even his sister having a Chinese name Then plot holes like what do mean the mc regretted what happened on the beach with his male friend's jewelry...u only mentioned the female girls jewelry. The u also mentioned that the mc clearly has a adult consciousness yet he gets excited due to his younger sister's body... Like really Also another thing u said there's nothing magical about this world so where the heck did qi come from and what combat techniques are needed to slap someone with twice the force...not the face slapping I had in mind... But I'm not done yet, u said the previous owner of the body died due to fever then how was he writing on a desk when mc consciousness was there prior when what looked like he was getting trashed on the floor... Atleast the interactions seem to be flowing I just remembered something...mc only got 20 dollars...yes dollars in another world within a European society that has a Chinese name and u can go to uni after middle school...so instead of gradually getting more money...he wants to directly get 5k dollars to buy something to get more points...not to mention using all that 20 he had as bribary, yet not wanting to spend 5 on buying milk...not to mention the poor condition of his family Oh and BTW I still never get to ch20...so yeah...enjoy...im out.
the story is extremely inconsistent. author is extremely stupid. every decision made was never thought out through. it's like seeing a 6 year old kid doing decisions and running here and there.
one of my favourite books like the personality of the mc and good system too can anyone suggest more novels like this
The first novel I read on Webnovel, and the reason I initially came here was « The Wizard World » by Get Lost, which I really liked although it was not the best novel I enjoyed. So after a few years, I decided to give Mystical Journey, by the the same author, a try as I was attracted by the original setting. So how did it go ? The setting is quite peculiar here as it is plural. The main character is a transmigrator who travels from one universe to another (about half a dozen) as the novel moves forward. Each world has its own flavour, nations, factions and power system. Most are in a time period that goes from the late 19th century to the early 21th century, except for two, one which is a futuristic space opera/mecha setting and another which is a european medieval-fantasy setting (with heavy inspiration, I even dare say plagiarism from Dungeons & Dragons, especially Forgotten Realms and Planescape). They are good, but not great, as the regular switching from one world to another (mostly without coming back) makes it hard to grow attached to one setting and truly explore its depth. The same could be said for most of the characters, as they almost always restricted to a given universe, and are functional, except for a some of them with a few quirks (not always well written). As a result, you have hard time to connect to them, especially as the story goes on, just like the main character. Garen, as a protagonist, is not much of a hero, more an anti-hero.It is driven, careful, observant, but ultimately self-centered, except for the few character he feels indebted to. In fact, as the novel progresses, he grows more and more callous, detached from humanity, and while not sadistic, will casually kill any number of beings (human or others) if it serves his goals. By the way, his goals remain mostly selfish and vague during the whole tale, beside the quest for power and survival (sometimes in the latter parts, even the MC wonders about what makes him carry on, and can’t come with a satisfactory answer). I can sum him up as a cold, intelligent but undriven and unlikeable opportunist. With such a protagonist, it is hardly surprising that the story starts to grow stale form the mid-point. Each transmigration into a new world is maked by an early period of weakness, then a growth in power according to the rules of the setting, with Garen being primarily motivated by survival and not much else. Even if each world has its own secrets and plot, the cycle ends up being repetitive, and even if there is a multiverse plot centred around an ancient multidimensional civilization whose powers the protagonist tries to make his, it is not exploited as it should. In fact, the feeling of detachement brought by the main character gets so intense in the latter arc that you end up looking at him as a secondary character in the great scheme of thing, a passing journeyman. Add to this an abrupt and frustrating ending, and you’ll feel a bit little you’ve wasted your time. For the power system, well, each unverse visited has its own, sometimes multiple of them, with characteristics relevant to the world’s plot. Some lessons learned in a given universe can be used in others and there are a number of trans-universal systems, one of them used by the MC and which drives a part of the novel’s plot (that plus him own unique « cheat »). Sadly, as the tale progresses, the systems get less and less grounded. The translation is average, mostly correct, but sadly with a significant number of typos, mistranslations of homophones, changes of names from one chapter to another … It is still readable, but it can make the experience upsetting. The translator truly has room for improvements. In conlusion, with a varied but depth lacking setting, barebone character, defective protagonist and sometimes enjoyabe but ultimately repetitive and stale story with a frustrating ending, I can say that this Mystical Journey lead me to nowhere. My final verdict for this very average nove lis a 4 out of 10, a 5 in the translation is ever corrected, and I doubt it will. The Wizard World, also by Get Lost is much better. In any case, i twill be some time before I read another novel of his. Kergonan out. P.S : thanks to Get Lost for writing this novel. For EndlessFantasy Translation, thank you but you need to improve.
Although, there are some little grammatical mistakes here and there, it is actually a very good novel. It is well thought-out with a good many power systems mushed up together. Though, there are many power systems, it is not chaotic per say but it is different, giving it a unique charm which forces you to read on, and continue with the story. Personally, I can't wait for the second part to come up. I'd started it just a pass-time, but seeing as how the first section of the story was gaslamp fantasy, I was totally hooked. After that was the Sci-Fantasy section, I think. Then it was the Blood Breeds and Witches section, which was honestly not very interesting, but was good nonetheless. Then it was probably Mech world, full sci-fi section and martial art section, the most interesting one for me. And lastly it was the God world section. Basically, with many power systems it also has different genres, cultures, societies, etc. This novel is very interesting and I hope that part 2 comes soon.
Reveal SpoilerA really frustrating story with little to no real progression. that are only spiraling in infinites cycles of no evolution with a really dumb MC.
Reveal SpoilerJust finished the story. Took a long time because I'm a very slow reader, was definitely worth the wait, and may read again in the future. I recommend this book to others who wish for a thrill ride with an mc who is advancing and changing everywhere he goes. It does kinda end on a cliff-hanger and I would love if it continued, but I understand that it had to end. If you ever want to continue the story author-chan, I would definitely continue reading in a heartbeat. -Pudge
I finished reading this story a few years ago. It was a generally enjoyable experience with a handful of lives/worlds each with different cultivation systems like martial arts, spirit beast powers(iirc), becoming a literal mech god, a world where there's no limits on the body's growth through pure exercise growing in height and becoming fast/strong af, witches vs martial arts, and becoming a dragon god that Garen has experienced. Of those lives/worlds the mech god, spirit beast, and dragon god ones were boring and slow and can be passed or skimmed over to the next arc in Garen's journey. The most satisfying worlds/lives Garen has experienced have been the world's closely aligned to more modern 20th century martial arts/supernatural type of novels. Also Garen finds out about a gathering of fellow reincarnates who rank themselves based on how many world's cultivation systems they can accumulate to strengthen their souls which is the foundation of their power that gives them the boost they need dominate in the new worlds they are set to reincarnate into and harness the world's power. But upon meeting the conclave at their home base(?) he quickly dies not murdered and reincarnates into the dragon world where the story wraps up. Expect a couple time skips per each world where Garen grows in power while skipping all the stupid boring grind of typical cultivation novels where the mc has to go through a litany of fights to grow in power while you have read every single one of them no matter how trivial it is.
Reveal Spoilerthank you for the enjoyable read. The amoral but kind to allies character decently done. i look forward to read the continuation of this endless journey.
This is a good novel in terms of story and world building. You can easily engrossed with it until the end. The only issue is the translation: there's severely lack of proofreading which causes interchanging names, duplicate names, interchanging he/she. If you can get past these translation issues, this is good novel to read.
It's probably one of the best novel I've read so far on this site. I must say it's quite interesting, thank you very much for the good chapters!
this is not your typical review but i just wanna tell the author of this novel that YOUR SENSE OF NAMING CHARACTERS IS really horrible...are you, perhaps, a chinese??? this is not your typical review but i just wanna tell the author of this novel that YOUR SENSE OF NAMING CHARACTERS IS really horrible...are you, perhaps, a chinese???
nah! got a great cheat but leveled up like a snail!.. *sigh too weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weakweak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak, weak , weak, weak mc
The author constantly contradicts themself and I had to drop it when the mc tried to molest his sister. That whole relationship with the step-sister is just all wrong.
WARNING TO ALL POTENTIAL READERS: within 20 chapters the (mentally adult) mc has a wet dream about his sister (who is a child). I don't plan to read past that point as the author was kind enough to show the P H A T E S T red flag before wasting too much of my time. If this is any indication of the mc's future romantic pursuits, then I fear for the children when he gains enough power to be unopposed in his "affections." Now, this might just be my burnout of mediocre stories talking, but I'd rather read the life stories on recipe blogs than Power Abuse Fantasy #35927.
This novel seriously sucks BIG TIME ....................... Tooooooo many inconsistencies and other garbage fills this novel. Go ahead if you wanna try.
The concept of the novel is really nice but the immersion really crumbled under the translation errors. Moreover there are many parts where you just have to turn off your brain to not get agitated. The last world was definitely the best World it was similar to the World of God's of WMW but it was unfortunately rushed. Before you read this Novel you should catch up on the latest Chapter of One Piece or something else cause I would have rather done that than "waste" my time with this Novel. Despite my rant on it if your able to look past it's flaws I urge you to read it but generally I recommend you to do otherwise
yeah not my cup of tea. It's a bit too stupid for my liking. anyways. the writing quality is alright, nothing to brag about but not horrible either. [3/5 writing quality] the story is my least favorite part of this novel. this one's about preference so you'll have to read it first before forming your opinion. [1/5 story development] the character design are good I guess. [5/5 character design] nothing wrong with the updates [5/5 updating stability] world background seems like a knockoff of earth, but it's still quite interesting. [4/5 world background] turn off your brain if you want to glean any sort of enjoyment from this, oh yeah and feel free to leave recommendations in the comments for me. thanks
You just have to turn off your Brian at some sections I would generally advise that you shouldn't read this novel unless you really have nothing else to do. I couldn't have done so many things in the time I read this novel like catching up to One piece or Jiu-jitsu kaisen.
he MC is a middle-aged guy who fantasizes about his 15 years old sister (and the sister feels the same way too). It's a disgusting novel.🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
