After winning the combat for a moment nothing happened but then the system began to send notifications to Odin.
[System: For winning the World Tournament of Asgard, Player: Odin_Borson has been granted the class... Error, problem detected... Searching for a possible option... Reward found granting...]
[System: Player Odin_Borson has been granted: ...]
In one of the studios of Yggdrasil numerous shout and swear could be heard in Japanese. A somewhat fat Japanese middle-aged man was standing there shouting toward other employees.
"Kono baka! Dōshite sō natta?" ("You idiot! How did this happen?")
| The rest will be written in English, just assume that they are still speaking in Japanese. |
"It's not our fault!" Protested one of the employees pushing his glasses. "The AI choose to give him this favor because he was already in possession of an extremely powerful class!"
"If the system chooses to give him the World Champion class on top of his Celestial Ruler he would have been able to solo any dungeon or guild with minimal loss." Explained the other one seeing as their boss didn't understand. "And because no one anticipated something like that the system improvised, it chooses to grant him a passive and a wish but for the said wish to be granted he has to sacrifice something."
"What sacrifice?" Asked the boss holding his forehead with his hand, hearing no answer he looked up and saw the two employees looking at each other unsure about how to respond so he repeated a bit more rudely that he wanted. "What sacrifice?"
"That's the problem, the system had no specific idea in mind when it gave this condition. So it did the only thing that was coded in it, it searched a viable solution in our stored data."
"So this is a good thing?"
"No, boss." Answered the other one. "The keywords in the search were: 'Sacrifice'; 'Odin'; 'Borson'; 'Yggdrasil'."
Feeling an incoming headache the boss mentioned him to continue which the man did after gulping a bit.
"Now, don't get me wrong, but normally it would be really good but because of the particular ID the player has the result of the search were... more tuned with myths than actual data." At this point, his partner continued. "So he has to give up his eye and in exchange, he can literally ask for anything."
"Can't you just shut the server down and do something, like nerfing the reward?" Asked the boss angry at the answer he was getting.
"Normally we could but the thing is the system is blocking us, we have been working with the other programmer and developer but none of us are able to access the data we want to modify, everything about the Player Odin_Borson is completely locked by it, each time we want to modify it disconnects us from our own server." He said with a helpless tone before adding. "If I didn't know any better I would think the AI is alive."
"That's not so bad, he only has one wish and the system will stop him if it breaks the balance of the game too much but what I am really concerned about is the dragon..."
"Dragon?" Interrupted the boss, not comprehending what they were discussing was related to the great creature.
"The system thought that the reward was too poor... So... It chooses to upgrade his current race class from a Dragonoid to a Dragon..."
"And I suppose that..."
"We can't do anything about it neither." Completed the two employees with too much enthusiasm for their boss who replied with annoyance.
"Remind me... Why am I paying you?"
"Because we made the game?"
After the system announcement and his reward being gifted Odin left with his girlfriend toward a scenic spot that only the both of them knew.
Odin stood up at the peak of the mountain and his gaze swept past the surroundings. Even with Odin's eyesight, the forest beneath the mountain looked like small figurines.
The sky seemed to have been cleaned of all its clouds and it was pure blue!
The cold breeze swept past Odin's face and his white robes filled with golden runes fluttered in the winds. His golden hair drifted in the winds showing his dragonic horns and Frigg stood behind him silently. Looking at the tall and slim back view of Odin, Frigg suddenly felt a deep reverence that was soon overwhelmed by affection.
Even though they were only a couple of steps away from each other, Frigg felt as though Odin was high up in the skies! In this life of his, Frigg felt that she would never be able to achieve such heights! Not wanting to left behind she quickly advanced to be next to him but not before seeing him.
Odin's silhouette was clearly outlined by the sun and it seemed as though there was a layer of golden light covering him.
"This game is like a chessboard, everyone is nothing but a pawn, who will be the Kings and Queens? Who will rise and who will fall?" Odin's eyes were narrowed. Despite only muttering a single phrase quietly, powerful confidence and arrogance could be felt.
A thousand mountains and rivers were all beneath his feet! Recalling the tournament and the rewards that were offered to him a bit of arrogance couldn't help but be present in his heart, after a moment he turned to his left where he looked at his girlfriend and asked with a gentle smile she couldn't see.
"Do you want to fly for a bit?"
Jumping of the cliff of the mountain a roar suddenly sounded and an enormous golden dragon suddenly flew up and stood next to her, and with a smile and quick step, Frigg began to climb up its body before it was on its back, and with a final roar, the dragon with a flapping of his wings, left the mountain, women on its back flying toward the setting sun on the horizon of Asgard.
And a short time later he disappeared.
