MAVERICK'S POV

"Sir, are you sure about it? This idea seems pretty –" Clark stopped speaking as he looked at me, hesitancy clear in his eyes.

I raised my brows at him.

"Do you think I would call you back from a mission and waste my time over something I am not serious about?" I asked him, and he shook his head.

I know what they were thinking. 

As an alpha who has kept powers to himself and never tries or interfere with matters that don't interest him, I was indeed making a bold move this time.

However, I was done keeping things in check and acting like the good guy. 

'Let me make it clear: no one thinks you are a good guy,' Reaper interrupted my thoughts.

I glared at the wolf, who smirked at me. He, for sure, knows how to get on my nerves sometimes.

'Would you have taken a different step if you were in my place?' I asked him.
