The sound of a chair being pushed back echoed in the building. Everyone in the place took a look to see what made the racket. There, in the direction of the noise, was the muscular man standing from his chair.
Seeing the man and having heard the loud words of the young lady earlier, everyone was quickly able to put two and two together. A show was about to happen.
But contrary to what everyone thought, there wasn't a single angry expression on the man's face. However, he still made his way toward the young lady's table which was what everyone expected.
Watching the guy draw closer, Key made no signs of moving to help out. This was his nature, like in the past. Unless it was life and death, or a friend couldn't handle their own situation, he didn't poke his nose into other people's business.
For Ethia, she didn't fall into either category. He didn't see her life being on the line. And given how she was stronger than him, if she couldn't handle it, could he? There simply wasn't any point in being, a white knight in shining armor.
The waitress didn't have these same thoughts. She was well aware of the muscular man's reputation. Listening to the disrespectful young woman would make her the next victim on his appetite of destroying young flowers.
Her options were to choose the young woman or herself. Only an idiot couldn't see the correct choice in the circumstances. Not wanting to be caught in the middle of the cross firing that was about to happen, she left without any courtesy on her part.
"What a hag! Could she be any ruder?! Key you saw that right? There wasn't even a thank you for the kind advice." Ethia's actions showed that she didn't have any care for the man making his way to her table.
Key continued to drink his water. That question was just a decoy to get him drawn into her pace to take the heat that was about to come. But would he? Since she made the trouble, it was her own responsibility to fix the problem.
"Hello, miss! I don't mind the rejection as we are still strangers and have yet to meet and greet one another. So allow me to correct my rudeness. I am Pierce. A name I take proud in as there isn't anything I'm not good at stabbing. Can you give me the honor of knowing your name Fair Tigress?"
"How is the sushi? The flavor for mine is terrible. This town is too poor. How does anyone stomach this?" Ethia was evil, ignoring and embarrassing the guy like she that. Did she want the poor guy to become a shut-in?
"It's lacking the main ingredients but its better than what I've been eating." Since she asked, it would be rude not to answer right?
Small veins popped on the muscular man's forehead before slowly leaving as he calmed himself down. "Fair Tigress, your earlier words were truly too harmful. Lesser men would even be willing to commit suicide out of shame." He didn't lack patience.
"Why haven't you died yet then?" She didn't turn to face him at all. The muscular man couldn't even see her face because she had her glass of water blocking his view since she was taking small sips.
Key tried as hard as he could, but he couldn't hold in the small chuckles leaving his throat. She was overly brutal. There was no problem in a man trying to ask out a girl they liked. But the two was making the situation escalate by being insistence and rude to each other.
"Do you think I don't dare to kill you? Filth has no place in making noises before me." Tired of the embarrassment but not having anyone to take it out on, he chose the closest target that was annoying him.
After all, it was one thing for the woman he liked to shame him. It was another matter if a lowly tamed speck did the same.
Blinking, Key was stunned inwardly. Did the guy have some screws loose? He couldn't win against Ethia, so he was shameless enough to target a bystander? There was no reason to humor this guy.
"Please! Common trash barking and growling to shout out to the world how pathetic you are, and you're still hoping to save face? Since you want to dig a hole for yourself to crawl in, let's make a bet. At least this way, it can be fun." Ethia interrupted.
Angry, but still hoping for a chance to continue pursuing the woman before him, Pierce asked the terms of the bet.
"They are simple terms that even common trash like you will understand given a few hours or more," Ethia paused while given the muscular man a glance. "Probably." She was being ruthless again.
"Just state the terms!"
"You should have a tamed speck entering the tournament happening soon right? If not, I wouldn't be surprised since its... well... you." Pierce ground his teeth as he stood there enduring Ethia's disdain.
"Of course I do! You think I can't afford a lowly tamed speck? I have dozens! DOZENS!" He was rich, why wouldn't he have slaves?
"Not that I don't have the money, but... my tamed speck just happen to run out of his pocket change and would like to make some more with his own ability."
Key raised an eyebrow as he heard what she said. He indeed needed money and was planning to earn some after the selection test. But accepting her methods was fine also since it would save time.
Did she cause the trouble for this very reason? If so, he needed to be more careful around her. She was too sly.
"Ability? I doubt it! That is the real trash, not me."
"No my words are always correct. Regardless of the outcome of any previous events, the money we bet will double each event, and you can even choose more than one person to represent you. Only those that are White Adapters or lower can be chosen for the bet. My speck will be the only one to represent me. What do you think?"
"Don't regret it."
"One more thing, the comments about my speck being filth better not be repeated. This is my last warning to you." Her look was evil.
Well, I was going to make this longer but I ran out of time. Oh well. I'll try with the extra chapter. Enjoy and look forward to more chaps.
